Well I have to ask when 20,000 US troops are being called up to be moved around on US soil. Something is going to happen soon folks and I'm sorry but I have to ring the conspiracy bell. Remember your Amy isn't there to make keep things safe they are a business. Take this as an oil prediction.;);)

another oil prediction from runningman. you claim to have 'predicted' it would go down to $75 and now you're making another prediction. Well, it can be inferred that you're not predicting that oil is going down any further, I think it is reasonable that you are supporting the idea that oil is going to quickly skyrocket.

could you at least post a link or something so we can read this and get a little more detail/context? Hard to make heads or tails of it without that.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

We've had US soldiers on our soil for a long time. In fact, pretty much all of them come from the United States and live here when they're not sent off to duty somewhere overseas.

This comes down to if you believe in the constitution or you don't. I don't want to hear the round about gas. Either you are for it in the event of terrorism or you don't want it. Let me know and please enough with the attacks on me. I am just bringing it to your attention Jeez

I didn't say this was about oil production. I was answering your question about the tea leaves (they- the tea leaves). I was saying that my gut is telling me something is going to happen the same way that I felt about oil coming down in price when I was right and you were wrong.

Troops on US soil Bad Economy Pending war with Iran and Russia There is more.......

I was saying take this as a runningman guarantee.;)

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

Yes, the troops on US soil are there to keep the peace and quell unrest. And yes, they are probably more concerned now about the potential for that unrest given the current economic conditions. I expect continued concern of terrorist attacks also plays some factor. It's both good and bad. On one hand, it's in their job description to do basic safekeeping of society, government, law, etc. On the other hand, yes there is always the risk of misuse and violating peoples' rights. It's bad in the sense that it is a reflection of the perceived growing risks we face today, so you're right from that perspective.

Again I have to say that this thread quite possibly takes the prize as the funniest yet...and I HAVE to say: "a war with Russia" are you insane?? I would say that ranges from impossible to extremely unlikely about equal to man walking on the sun in distant future.

Maybe those troops are really Russians in disquise and they are all called vladimir or boris and their generals are jack-off and who-d-u-nick-a-bolock-off...equally unlikely.

Are you joking? you must be joking?

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

So let me get this straight: NORTHCOM is amassing 20k troops to quell a nation of 300 million?

Do you really think the rest of the military would stand for its own troops moving in on its own people? The easiest way to fragment the US would be to deliberately impinge on the citizens of the US.

People speculate a terrorist attack, followed by martial law and enforcement by this group of 20k troops. The terrorist attack I can foresee, but not 20k troops taking on citizens, many who firmly believe in the 2nd amendment.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

I love it I ask if you are for or against and I get attacks.

20,000 troops is a starting point Localizer. Also the 20,000 are to further support local authorities so it isn't just 20,000 troops. It is 20,000 troops plus your local law enforcement who are also dressed as commandos in a martial law environment.

Look up your history why Washington and the gang knew why having an army on your soil was a very bad idea (Does Military Dictatorship ring a bell??). Look up Rome if you really want to understand.

Now does anybody want to answer the question?? For or Against?

well yeah. The law of diminishing returns, combined with the nature of the acts combined with the scope of who is doing them, means that it will eventually happen again. (not hurricanes, terrorism). Even the Bush admin (and I think Obama too) has said just as much. It isn't a question of IF, it is a question of WHEN.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

i meant my comment in the "pick up a hammer and saw and build" sense. that region still isnt even close. 25000 guys and gals on a regimented daily schedule would get shit done very very quickly. the ARMY can build a bridge in 3 days when needed in a foreign country, they can build a fucking neighborhood when we need it here.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

^ great point. imagine all the work that we could get done rebuilding this country, if they were put to that imperarive use around the clock. not sure where i will be stationed in the coming years but, i do hope to be stateside for awhile in the usaf. the army is really hurting right now though, we all know that.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

If that was to be the case they should be discharged as ARMY and enlisted in a new organization.

#1131613Post 22 of 43

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

the training you get in the military is most certainly not the same as some guild, lol. they can do many tasks. discharge would corrode their proficiency over time -- do to affiliation with a softer establisment.

as far as troops on our soil. idgaf. hard rimes mean tough measures. and i've read all the conspiracy lit., and most all of that speculation and quackery stems from mental illusions, astral glamours, fears and panic. for example, william cooper died because he got too preachy and devotional with his postulates; and not having been thoroughly informed thru hierarchical emissaries. now all the quacky loons are being even more raging/sensational, and they are surely a detriment and festering pool of compulsive confusion. granted we are at a major turning point, and we either make it or not... we grow thru the obstacles. also, im confident in the global/international cooperatives at this point; it just needs some lovin renovation and evermore fine tuning.

Yes I am thats kind of the field of my degree...I would say that there are a million reasons why you could predict a war between Russia and the US or China and the US but the fact of the matter is that private individuals stand to loose far too much money if a large scale international conflict breaks out so it simply won't happen. Todays "superpowers" are super economies more than super armies and these economies are far too intertwined and co dependant on the international scene for anything large scale to occur. You can't predict the future of politics and international relations on the basis of the past the world has changed a lot...its far too complex now for you or anyone else to say that because there is an economic uncertainty there will be a war or because the US supremacy is challenged by Chine there will be a war or whatever. There might be some proxy-wars thats being set up as we speak but a direct conflict will never occur.

#1131627Post 26 of 43

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

And believe me when I say if a large scale conflict occurred I would be on the front line faster than you can snap your fingers...I don't stand to loose much and I have no problem with war profiteering and I don't feel that I belong to either side...so I would go for the money. Anyway who wants to live for ever todays world is boring anyways we need something crazy to happen to get us all of our asses and to test our capability of survival...

well that's it folks.. Shpira you just made my day with your comments. Hey your right your 21 you should join the army.

#1131652Post 28 of 43

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

hehe...no. I am of the opinion that joining an army is for idiots...the only reason why anyone should join imo is for adventure...all other reasons freedom liberty etc are nothing more than a perversion of the truth. If you actually read what I wrote I didn't say I would join an army or that I would actually fight in the war as a foot soldier or that I would pick a side...I said I would go to the front line...purely for personal gain and adventure, no other reason is justifiable especially if we are talking about a war between two superpowers. I know some will disagree and I know that there are some here who are actually serving in the military forces...thats fine its normal for people to have difference of opinion. The last war that was morally justifiable was WW2 and the US, Britain and the USSR manage to fuck that up with civilian bombings, a-bombs, mass rapes etc all other wars were fought for personal gain of individuals and companies...so join a military force no thanks. I don't believe in democracy, freedom or any of that shit. I can't find a single reason why I would join the military.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

"Technology changes. People do not change."

Thats a fair point...but even if you think that you could argue that there is more in favor of small wars than a big one. What I mean to say is that if you start with the premise that most wars (if not all) are fought for national gain i.e. realism etc. Then you could argue that there is more to gained from small wars rather than big ones as business can continue as usual while the government can exercise control over industry and everyday life.

"Great. Then I guess you won't mind having those freedoms and benefits you currently enjoy taken from you in the event that war ever erupts again and your own community comes under attack!"

As for this...I really won't. As I said I think the current system fosters mediocrity, weakness, laziness and stupidity all traits that if nature had its way would be to a certain degree abolished. Furthermore I don't believe that we are "free" I think its all an elaborate illusion put in place for population control...not in some conspiracy theory sense but in the true meaning of population control...through national identities, religion, social groups etc.

i see where you are coming from... but c'mon man, you cant take for granted the basic liberties and rights this country stands for. yea, the current system does foster all of the above(it's quite sad too), only if you look at it like that. WE HAVE A CHOICE. it sure is hard at times, but we all posses the will and discrimination to take the wise steps or not. it's so easy to fall into those stagnant and retarded states forsure, but at the same time we do have infitite amounts of opportunites before us, as well as the potential to accelerate far beyond our conditions/handicaps, and become who we always wanted to become. despite all the bull shit, we should be thankful to be citizens here. true... "freedom" is a much abused term and rarely understood state.

^^I understand what you are saying, but I tend to disagree to some extend. For one I don't think that there are opportunities to excel as much as this point is advertised in our "democracy". Without a doubt if you come from a privileged background you have a far better chance in life than someone who doesn't and the size of your bank account does determine the amount of "freedom" you have access to...furthermore, most families and individuals that are now rich have made their fortune on morally corrupt enterprises that have since become "illegal". Now don't get me wrong I am not advertising communism here as that would also foster mediocrity big time. All I am saying is that if there was a war at least it would bring some much needed change to the system we live in. All this might sound cruel or radical or whatever but everyday I believe more and more that maybe the restart button should be pressed. You can call that selfish saying who gets to decide and blabla ... but the really selfish thing IS this system - if a global poll was conducted with the question "should we redesign the global system?" i think the wast majority of the worlds poor souls would vote yes. I admit that I am probably amongst the more fortunate ones. My family is well off and the mere fact that I have time to think about these things means that I live well. I don't really know the answer its just something I think about often.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

well we have the opportunity to express ourselves, and absorb myriads of cultures for one. look at that in contradistinction to other countries. you get the picture.

ie. you read one of the more recent headlines in the news, regarding iran and what they are doing to the kids dressing in those 'satan western looks?' check it out.

'democracy' is in it's premature infancy still... imho.

Re: Would it bother you if your Army was on your own Soil??

As for you Miro...No, what I am saying is that I would welcome you and your friends to try and come to do all the things you dream of doing :) Then you would be introduced to some things I keep in the closet in the "just in case" box...

"Some people can also argue that there is more to be gained from a big war where they take out a nation that stands in the way of their dominance, lets them take their resources, etc."

Yeah, but its not about nations anymore. Its all about companies. I think that national sovereignty has been slowly but surely eroded during the past 60 years or so...if you look at the way nations compete world wide with best tax breaks lowest minimum wage etc you see what I mean. Corporations, bankers have a huge influence on national governments. It is essentially they who decide on issues such as war etc...not directly of course but through their influence on key pillars of government and through media influence on the nation.

I think "democracy" is long dead. If indeed it ever existed. What we have today is a "version of democracy" just as the USSR was a "version of communism" ... more like perversion the both of them if you ask me.

But about Iran...thats partly my point why is it do you think ppl hate the west? Is it because of our way of life? If you believe that then your crazy...or I suppose you could say they hate our way of life in some sense...they hate the way the west exploits the whole underdeveloped world, the way the west attempts to spread its value system world wide and in the process destroy any kind of national identity or local culture.

All of these things are all the more reason why things should be changed...I don't know how and any of my suggestions would be very impractical borderline impossible. About 3 years ago I spent considerable time drawing up a new political system (I had a bet with one of my teachers, this was a way of getting an A even though I skipped most of the lectures.) and I did think of one that was partly based on Plato's republic partly on some ideas advertised by Rawls and partly on some ideas Marx had...but it was very radical and cruel to say the least.

ya its all fucked up, but i can endure this shit and handle it. it's better than nothing, atleast we can work with it.

the bulk of people here arn't the reason why they hate us, its the fucking media, shamless commercialism, etc. etc. etc.

edit: oh and they hate us also because they are still stuck in mideval thought patterns and beliefs, and they know it sucks balls, and they don't wanna move on.
