not calling out o[pinion, but the answer to that is, plain and simple, it goes against every idea this coutnry was founded on. for the people, by the people.

however, i truly beleive socializing a few major industries would work and have a monster trickle down effect in the positive.

socialise pharmaceudicals, not medicine and healthcare as a whole, but perscription making. but and a huge but, they better pay the doctors very very well.

socialise corporate and business liability insurance. that way, illigitamate business practices would be open for suit at a whole new level, criminalized, and eventually weeded out.

lastly, i am in agreement with paulsons idea of having a stake in banking, that will tie the overall economy to the industry and push the taxpayer into the "rah rah" aspect of industry.

IMO Democratic socialism is probably the only half decent thing that can save America from the all the shit thats made it into what it is today. . . no offense intended to anyone. It just seems to me that ppl are more focused on labels than on substance. Its clear that there is note of socialism in him from all the policies he argues for. . . redistribution of wealth through taxes i.e. taxing the rich more so that some of the poorest have better living opportunities is essentially a socialist idea. If this really bothers you than don't vote for him. Countries all over the world are embracing democratic socialism as its the only political idea that makes ANY real sense in this fucked up world only the US seems a bit slow to catch on.

I've got 2 close friends who work for Homeland Security, and the daily bullshit they have to deal with, would make your head spin... Try dealing with state / local goverment, and add a bullshit factor of +90, that's federal government for you...

Look at those rodeo clowns in Congress, with like a 9% approval rating... And you'd trust those idiots to make your healthcare decisions, determine what a "fair" tax rate is for you vs. your neighbor, or generally decide what's best for Americans? You're kidding right?

Honestly, government [I]creates[/I] most of America's problems, and then conveniently offers a "fix" that pushes us one step closer to socialism anyway. And if government is so good as regulating business today, why are we in all this financial chaos today ???

Your right that the US was not founded on the ideas of social democracy...but so what? The ideas the US has been founded on are some what outdated as are the ideas any nation was founded on. Its time for the US to adapt to the new world. There is no more land that the you can stake a claim to, there is no more gold that you dig out and call your own and there is no more oil that you can drill for. So. . .the world has changed and the US tries not to. The ideas o rugged individualism made a lot of sense back then but make little sense today. As for the trickle down effect. . . that really does not work so well ask anyone who has the trickle falling down to them.

this is true. if we start going down the path towards socialism and then communism, then we are fucked -> good bye free world (or whats left of the 'free' so far)
