Take the stated amount of drinks when the following occurs:

Raises arms off of podium in unison = 1 drink Awkward, forced smile (e.g. ) = 2 drinks "My Friends" = whole beer

Please add as you see fit.

Good move switching away from the green background, BTW. After all the mocking they took for that, I was stunned they did it again.

I'm watching NBC -- he actually got a decent amount of air time.

I do kinda wish the louder protesters would cut it out. The sign dude was cool, he was just sitting there and quietly holding a sign. The attempts to actually disrupt the speech are a bit disrespectful IMO. Doesn't put Obama supporters in a good light.

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

McCain sucks at reading a teleprompter, Barack Hussein Obama sucks in a debate setting when there's no teleprompter in site... So what ???

I'm not crazy about McCain, never have been... But, Obama is an empty suit, and McCain is anything but...

Explaining duty, honor, and sacrifice to leftoids is like teaching quantum physics to a cantaloupe, so I wouldn't expect any Obama supporter to understand 99% of what McCain had to say this evening... sober or not...

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

I've missed most of the speeches during both the DNC and the RNC. I only just caught Obama's speech today thanks to the link Toasty provided.

I tuned in late to McCain's - painful for the most part. The PoW camp story was good but overall I thought both the content and the delivery was weak. The guy has no presense and kind of a whiny voice. I also felt that people were cheering at completely off moments. Anyone see the lady yodling?

I'm disappointed I didn't catch Paulin speech, will have to search it out since everyone seemed to like it.

I caught part of Biden's and thought it was ok, nothing special.

 @ 88Mar

thought mccain stumbled quite a bit through the speech, but did a fair job in the end sort of getting the message across that he's different. guess we'll see what the polls reflect tomorrow.

Duty? Honor? Sacrifice? What good are those things for an american president? Sacrifice what for whom? Liberties for scheming terrorists? Or was it for blastocysts? I forget.

Duty? He was in a military family. He joined the military. Duty is required.

Honor? McCain has very little in that department. He's not only denied benefits for his fellow officers and servicemen, but he exploits his POW status to no end. If you want honor, he's one of the last hundred or so guys I'd choose. Ron paul never bragged about that stuff, and only responded when asked. McCain went so far as to say "I have the scars". Well whooptie fuckin do. Your judgement sucks and your character sucks.

Hey i get it, his speech makers and handlers are beating a dead horse with the whole POW thing, but there's not a one of us that could have endured what he went through in captivity. I myself would be in a corner drooling in a cup if I got .01% of the beating McCain did in Vietnam. You can see that it has destroyed him physcially & that it makes him uncomfortable to talk about it, but he earned the right to stand where he is today and speak his peace.

Ron Paul is a whole different issue, he's not standing behind that podium because he's made too many enemies in the republican party. McCain may not be the best candidate, and more often my libertarian side says to sit this election out...

i just take issue with the patriotism jokes, references to "cliche", and such...

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

constraint bruva! it's your friend! ;)

overall the whole thing went ok and predicable, minus all the protesting quacks raging up and being nubtards. mccain knows how to hit the humanity keynotes while speaking too, (or all speech writers are just that pro.) if only the candidates technical policies didn't fuck em' all over so hard, while they try to appease all.

not gun lie, i'm a bit drunk from the parameters of this game tho as well! :Cheerz:

I would refer to what the former Supreme Allied Commander of Europe, General Wesley Clark said about McCain. He got SHOT DOWN and taken prisoner. He had terrible things done to him and served courageously, but that doesn't make him commander-in-chief material.

bunch of nondescript older white dudes in suits and Stepford wives going through the motions by mumbling in unison = the very definition of cliche. That was the most obvious, expected, homogeneous crowd I've ever seen in my life.

You could tell their hearts weren't in it, though.

I'm not a McCain supporter, and would have a tough time voting for him... But I would say that his time in Congress, is what earned him his party's nomination...

Using General Clark's (undoubtedly flawless & unquestionable) logic, what exactly are Obama's qualifications to be commander-in-chief ???

Cliche? You know who makes them cliche? John McCain does. Sarah Palin does. Ultimately the best argument for voting John McCain that any republican has asserted (notwithstanding that he isn't obama) is that he has COURAGE, and HONOR, and FORTITUDE and VISION. And Palin has STRENGTH and INTELLIGENCE and BABIES and FAITH and ...you know what? Fuck that. Shitting buzzwords out one's mouth does not make a good platform.

Yet this is what we get when voters are educated solely on what they watch on television at 8pm monday through friday.

And yet the left still wonders why they can't (and arguably won't) win the presidency... You just spelled it out... The left looks down with contempt on a large portion of the American electorate and middle America in general ("clinging to their God and their guns"), and yet they think these people don't notice...

McCain runs on his national security and military-related "strengths" and really nothing else. Obama is running on a more economy-centered message. With Clark's argument applied to both of them then, McCain has nothing and Obama has economics. A similar argument was used against Clinton in 1992, and yet the "it's the economy, stupid" message eventually prevailed.

So yeah when you have senior military officers striking down the only basis of his campaign, it's noteworthy. Presidents also have other responsibilities besides commander-in-chief, but it seems McCain is running for just that one aspect of the job.

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

McCain is the pick not by an affirmative campaign, but rather, responsive to those whose campaign did not last as long as his. In short, nominated by atrition.
