Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game
And yet the left still wonders why they can't (and arguably won't) win the presidency... You just spelled it out... The left looks down with contempt on a large portion of the American electorate and middle America in general ("clinging to their God and their guns"), and yet they think these people don't notice...
I love the irony of a dude form South Florida telling me, in Missouri, that I look down on middle America.

What I look down upon is ignorance. What I look down upon is those who carry themselves with an unearned air of self-importance.

When I watched the Democratic convention, I saw real people, an actual cross-section of America. I know some of the delegates who went from Missouri, and they are regular people with regular jobs. The GOP convention, by contrast, looked like a bunch of party insiders (if you take out the veterans, who were not the subject of my initial post) who sit at their desk with their suit jacket on and engage in competitive consumption. It is the very definition of cliche.
Obama is running on a more economy-centered message. With Clark's argument applied to both of them then, McCain has nothing and Obama has economics.
So I could say I'm running on a "pretzels and beer" centered-message, and therefore I am an expert ??? I must have misuderstood, what exactly are Obama's "economic" credentials, therefore making him an authority on economics???

Was it possibly his experience with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers? When they worked together to help disburse more than $100 million to allies in the Chicago School system.

That must have been what you're referring to... no ???

Hey, isn't that guy a professor of teaching things or something at the University of Chicago? Whoops, that makes him a part of the dangerous "academia" class, so nevermind, my bad.

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

correct me if i'm wrong, but is not the University of Chicago the most prestigious conservative-oriented school in the country?

So if I understand this correctly, if they don't think like you, look like you, or if they have some mischevious "party insider" grin on their face or some evil look of self-importance, then they are to be looked down upon with contempt?

What exactly are "real" people anyway? Living down here in south florida I must have forgotten what they look like...

"Real" people must be the ones that think like you, vote like you, and look like you... How very progressive...

Here's a recap of tonights speech
I am a victim, a dedicated if imperfect servant of my country, not perfected until I realized that the State is far more important than I am, I love peace, I hate war, I will wage war, I will smite the Muslims, I will kill the Russians, I will strike down anyone who fails to bow the knee to me, I will drill, I will build nuclear power plants, I will care for the jobless, the homeless, the bankrupt, the sick, the oil men, the bankers, the arms merchants, the soldiers, the lobbyists; I was a POW, I bear the scars of Jesus on my body, I was wounded, I was hurt, I was crippled, I was jailed, I was tortured, I was imprisoned, I was gaoled, I was in captivity, I was behind bars, I was held against my will, except when I decided to stay, I told nothing, I told nothing, I told everything, country first, country first, freedom, low taxes, I will stand at your side, not in front of you, world empire, everything for the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State, hail me, hail me, hail me.
Listen dude, I'm an attorney in the real world and am myself very politically involved, so they actually look exactly like me, and I spend every fucking day of my life dealing with these self-absorbed pricks. And by "these self-absorbed pricks," I mean literally these very same self-absorbed pricks -- saw a lot of familiar faces when they panned across the MO delegation.

So I'm actually harping on people that are in some respects very much like me -- the primary difference is that I don't believe my own bullshit about how awesome I am.

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

In all seriousness though, I think the best drinking game bar-none would be "Try To Find The Minorities at the RNC." If you find one of them, everybody else has to drink a fifth of vodka.

#1076427Post 60 of 70

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

^The Republicans struggled to find one minority to put on the stage during the convention. The only guy they had stayed in the south to prepare for hurricane stuff. So, they had not one minority. lol. Not ONE??? Nice work guys. Panning through the crowd, the obligatory shots of veterans with their hats on got to be a bit much imo. They also kept giving shots of the same group of young college aged girls, as if to say, "see, we have young people that support us too." The rest of the crowd needed a diaper change and a new bottle of oxygen.

who cares about minorities? it's the IDEAS that count. And they were lacking more in sound political philosophy than they were in minorities last night.

Check this lovely bit out from his speech:
"I understand free trade is not a positive for everyone. If a worker loses a job we must retrain them and prepare them for 21st Century jobs. That's why I have proposed a comprehensive reform of our unemployment insurance and worker retraining programs. We will use our community colleges to help train workers for specific opportunities in their communities. And for workers of a certain age who have lost a job that won't come back, we'll help make up the difference in wages between their old job and a temporary, lower paid one until they've completed retraining and found secure new employment at a decent wage. "

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

Also, i know they're just buzz words, but i think it's pretty funny that McCain has taken a page from Obama's campaign, obviously noticing what americans want to hear seeing Obama's success, and now McCain is running on "Change" and "Transparent Government" + "POW" "Military" "Safety" "Terrorists" etc. I expect a "Kitchen Sink" ad in the coming weeks.

lol wait wut? he did talk about the economy, go back and read/listen/watch the speech

what was obama's talk of the economy? ill do everything for everyone... i'll pay for everyone and for everything. how?

imo speech was ok, thought the best part was when he said he will stop sending billions of dollars in aid to those who dont support us. im sick of my money getting spent on people who hate us while people here at home are suffering...

btw, did obama change his stance on becoming oil independent in 10 years? did he realize how assinine that was? im glad one of his 5 million advisors finally told him what an idiot he is... much like the whole georgia thing (let's let the un security council deal with it)...

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

Hey don't get me wrong I don't like either of them..

It seems that you have your pick as Americans to vote for a noose (McCain) or lethal injection (Obama) either one is going to fuck everything up

Mind if I ask what you are doing to change this? Not saying this is you, but so many people making this same statement still drive large SUV's they really have no need for. We (as Americans) make a lot of symbolic gestures but nothing that actually does anything to change what we complain about.

At both the DNC and RNC you saw people waving mini US flags around... which were made in China.

i do have a need for a large suv as i have a decent size family, 3 dogs (1 big), and the need to haul stuff around...

but asking what else i do with my $? i do donate to various charities throughout the year (local/national charities). im just sick of our money going out to help other countries (most of which are against us) when our country and economy is going to shit

btw i wasnt referring to globalization, but all the money we are giving away in aid. yes aid is good, but we should probably aid ourselves first. unfortunately obama wants to give more money in external aid as well...

Re: John McCain Acceptance Speech Drinking Game

^^^ Sorry, my brain crossed your two paragraphs. For some reason I thought your statement about money was related to oil independence. Guess I should stop trying to multitask.
