Re: The New Atheists

neither system works

in capitalism you have ppl crying that they dont make enough and high skill jobs generate too much wealth

in socialism you have the opposite. the rich get screwed.

no win situation. either ppl can get lazy and accept socialism, or gain desire and embrace capitalism. neither idea meshes well with the whole of society when dumb and smart ppl are together.

Re: The New Atheists

so lets place the dumbs in a socialism state and the smart ones in a capitalist state .......... and i dont know if im late here but i think religion is just a control mechanism the worked pretty well for the monarchys in old centuries .. now itis crumbling appart

Re: The New Atheists

You see that's where I disagree. I'd like to see the built in incentives of the capitalist system incorporated into a socialist mentality. I haven't exactly worked out the details, but I believe taking those into consideration will at least address the inherent weaknesses of both systems.

Re: The New Atheists

the cheap bastard in me cringes every time someone collects a welfare or unemployment check. im sorry, but even wal mart hires retards... anyone can get a job. its my goddamn money, im keeping it. im just gonna stop paying a portion of my taxes to rid myslef of the anger that my state houses should-be death row inmates and gives ppl like ol dirty bastard a thousand a week.

Re: The New Atheists

^that's what you get when you live in a police and welfare state like we do, pay it out your ass one way or the other. ;)

Re: The New Atheists

i hate socialism as a theory, i understand it and why ppl beleive in it. but comon.... if you have to rely on the government to keep you living. maybe its time to let darwinism take hold.

Re: The New Atheists

^^^ ur saying smart tax payers money goes to help dumb bastards on the streets ? i blame that on how social services are managed here .. if im paying taxes to help build a better community i would want my money to be used in hospitals and schools... but hey its a democracy right?

#754828Post 88 of 133

Re: The New Atheists

there is no reason why anyone outside of those with a disability or an abandoned spouse with dependents should be relying on the gov ernment. im sorry, if you didnt learn a job skill when you should have, its only your fault. im just gonna stop working and collect.

Re: The New Atheists

lmao.

urbandictioary definition number 9 for socialism
pussified capitalism
and
if you are stupid and have no skills, then this is for you.
#754837Post 90 of 133

Re: The New Atheists

Capitalism in urbandictionary:
5. Common synonym for greed
or similarly:
A form of government based entirely on the foundation of greed.
and lastly, the one I find quite on point:
A economic system which is usually short lived before becoming corporatism. In this system, everyone is said to have an equal chance to become rich, depending on how hard they work. While this is true of capitalism, usually by the time a capitalists become rich, corporatism is born. A system where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. While Capitalism is a good idea, in theory, it is not in practice. Just like communism. Neither work. Usually, the only way for a semi-capitlist state to exist for any length of time is through democratic socialism.
Re: The New Atheists

I'm all for the benefits a socialist state can give, provided the taxing revenues are managed in the right way, and also for the incentive that usually come with capitalism. Sean, yours and other Americans' remarks have made me realize how incredibly negative any form of socialism, or rather, caring for each other, has been portayed by the US government and elites. It's in-fucking-credible that all I ever hear about socialism is that it is 'taking money from the rich and giving it to poor people who are too lazy to get a job'.

How fucking narrow can tunnelvision get???

How about more money available for education, making it accessible and good quality, or making health care affordable and good quality? Don't you think that an educated and healthy population might be the bedrock of a productive and strong economy?

Probably not, since the policy in the US has for a long time been to make people believe that the only way is to fight your way up in a system that structurally disadvantages people from lower ranks - you guys have an income gap that matches that of many southamerican countries and an electoral system that is still in use in the UK and Africa....(and is over here widely regarded as retarded, seriously)

No offense meant bro, but all this Euro-bashing of late because of our more socialist nature is so off the right track...I just needed to vent a little here ;).

Re: The New Atheists

well too effing bad commie boy.;)

if i earn it, and want to earn more to accumulate wealth, i have every right to and im damn hell bent on keeping it mine. i earned it. difference in philosophy. im not about to cheer the fact that my government gives out grants to, for example, and artist, who cant hold an income producing job becuase he studied something that, usually, doesnt generate income.

Re: The New Atheists

fundamentally, i firmly believe that if a higher taxation would lead to better education, then i stand behind it. give the teachers higher pay, god knows in areas like brooklyn they deservse it. but if my taxes are paying for a guy to sit onhis ass because he doesnt want to go grab a mcdonalds job for the time being, then fuck em.

#754868Post 99 of 133

Re: The New Atheists

Yao, you might as well give up on the American's view of socialism...most of these dumbasses over here can't figure out the difference between communism and socialism, they tend to think and argue that they're one and the same and this is essentially where this prejudice comes from. I was always a strong supporter of socialism and have constantly found myself in the position of teaching people this (and I'm talking fairly intelligent and educated people).

Every American has been brainwashed to believe that "Socialism = Communism". The funny thing about it is that this country has a ton of socialist policies and programs and the population and politicians still have no clue.

exactly. Laziness is not my cup of tea either, i'm working damn hard for my money. There's enough people out there that are willing but need some help though, and one should not be left behind if he/she is willing to make an effort.
