Reading over this article I see that lawmakers who voted for this are not sure about its constitutionality.

Hello! What the hell is wrong with these people?

Sad day in the history of the USA.

Oh...by the way. MercuryNews.com....haha.

Nice going. You've just lowered yourselves to the level of all those 'insurgents/terrorists/rogue states' yourselves...

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

what the hell are you guys talking about?

Its about time we put into writing what we can and cannot do. get rid of the gray area so we know when were crossing the line.

P.S. We found out about the airliner attacks foiled in london because of water boarding.

make these guys talk, but know where the line is so we dont go as low as they do

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

But in the meantime, let's just grab random people, oh say, people like Arar, who were nothing more than guilty by association and have them taken for almost 2 years without any due process....This sounds so reminiscent of issues with Asians in the late 1800's/early 1900's that were living in the US at the time. We brought the terror to ourselves, they were just the messengers.
make these guys talk, but know where the line is so we dont go as low as they do
And where's that line? Your president said it was ok to torture prisoners as well.

Btw, you have a "War on Terrorism", but the Geneva Convention on POW is not applicable on the guys you've been letting rot away in Gitmo and those secret CIA prisons with this new bill. WHAT WAR THEN???

Osama Bush imo :BSPost:

well at least there no bones about it...ids duh law... how can you take anything a person is saying while under torture seriously..its beyond me...i mean one usually classifies a human who hasnt slept in four days delerious..or at least temporarily insane...and thats just lack of sleep...

an interesting doco/movie comes to mind.....road to guantanamo...

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

Thank god most of the US peepz I know on this board don't agree with that law either...t me they represent the sensible portion of the nation. It's not like I'm mordicus against some level of torture when it can save thousands of lives, but it should never ever ever be written down or made good practice! But Bush has done a great job instilling fear in a lot of Americans, so they agree to shit they would've never agreed to before 9/11. He's milking that cow like a sexed-up farmer.

...and now this. Asserting that we as the US have to right to deny someone else access to space if it poses a threat to our security is retarded. I hate all this side-stepping talk-over crap. No one can speak to the point anymore.

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

there is nothing wrong with a little sodium pentathol outside of morals. grow a pair you homos. if someone plans on trying to kill me again, i dont give a damn what some sick interrorgator is doing. im sorry i dont. not being raggy, not being inflamatory. just the truth. sadly, we might have to let a handful of interrorgators go to this level when some fucking camel jockey is willing to kill himself.

#731050Post 16 of 58

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

and if you bring up arar, then dont ever ask your government to try any legal cases, b/c every single country has people in prison who are innocent, dont try murders or rapes, nothing. innocent people caught in this should be given a free pass when proven innocent. i mena a complete pass, like a gov't funded pension nad home.

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

So now the US is putting an indirect claim on space? (rather, Bush wants that). I'm getting weird nightmares about a powerhungry Texan yokel in charge of a superpower running amok.

I disagree mostly. I would understand if it is used as a last resort, but not as a standard way of extracting information.

I understand your sentiments. But I would say we are not discussing here what you just said. The fact that the US has taken the route it has since all this crap began is the main issue. If the US had, as you say, grown some balls and just killed all the creeps in the first place rather than this poppy cock invasion/occupation nonsense and the systematic destruction of freedoms in the US in the name of protection, the situation would be vastly different.

The way I see it, all the pent up anger and hurt among all peoples involved has just continued to grow. The resulting future conflict is going to be tragic beyond anything we have already seen.

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

that space article is dumb, but i see what the admin is aiming for. its a continuum of clintons policy into bush's world of he hate me. now instead of ensuring freedom, he is ensuring that no one stops us......what a way to change the wording of an initiative to make it yet another reason to smack a texan.

so sean, I gotta ask, are there no limits to the amount and type of torture that interrogators are allowed to do in order to extract information in your book? Or are there some limits?

We have enough problems with fundi's as it is, and my stance would not change on this matter if we were a target - it would mean that my standards are pretty bendable when they're put to the test. You see, we fighters do have a spine when the shit hits the fan, in more than just one aspect of life ;). Do you think I'm all cool with what's going on in the Middle East with all those threats towards the US? Do you think I was taking the news on Van Gogh's murder like everything is peachy? Dude, I'm a member of a Moroccan forum here and regularly check out some fundi sites, and it ain't pretty what they think of us. I'm not blind, but I do have certain standards by which I live, and if yours are different then that is totally fine, but I haven't been caught calling you a cunt based on your political/personal conviction, have I? btw I have a background in judo, pencak silat and thaiboxing. To me MMA is still very narrow in the use of it's techniques in fact...

Re: Bush Signs New Bill on Detainee Interogation

whaa?....so how credible is what this man who is in (obvious suffering and pain and discomfort) and what he has to say....

thats what i was refering to earlier...sure ok you want to legitimize them against international law so you can prove whatever, but what the fuk has this unnecessary sick phychological and physical suffering brought us?....were letting it happen to people who havent even seen the light of a trial or a hearing....not been able to represent themselves or have someone represent them...not have been able to have the liberty of one phonecall...

then specially designed activities enforced to completely emasculate and humiliate them purposfully disrespect and disregard all that they cherish....

im sure some of them had ill wishes for the u.s before they went in....but after everyone of them held without any sort of just, democratic procedure or reason other than suspect and alligations or being at the worng place at the worng time...im positive they have even more distrust and disillusionment with the u.s after experiencing what they had in store for them....

none of the ones released so far have recieved any sort of acknowledgment despite having been put through this 'torture'....

i reckon they passed the bill so they wouldnt have to use other countries which have no such laws and manipulate the system....theyr trying to cut some costs...north korea might be expensive....
