Has anyone heard about the bill trying to impeach Obama? Because his war in Libya was without the consent of congress and therefore illegal. They want to make sure he doesn't do that with Syria.

Re: The Obama Impeachment

Speaking of Syria:
A Russian military unit has arrived in Syria, according to Russian news reports, a development that a United Nations Security Council source told ABC News was "a bomb" certain to have serious repercussions.

Russia, one of President Bashar al-Assad's strongest allies despite international condemnation of the government's violent crackdown on the country's uprising, has repeatedly blocked the United Nations Security Council's attempts to halt the violence, accusing the U.S. and its allies of trying to start another war.

Now the Russian Black Sea fleet's Iman tanker has arrived in the Syrian port of Tartus on the Mediterranean Sea with an anti-terror squad from the Russian Marines aboard according to the Interfax news agency. The Assad government has insisted it is fighting a terrorist insurgency. The Russian news reports did not elaborate on the Russian troops' mission in Syria or if they are expected to leave the port.

The presence of Russian troops in Syria could be a "pretty obvious" show of support to the regime, according to Russian security expert Mark Galeotti.

"No one thinks of the Russians as anything but Assad's last friends," said Galeotti, professor of global affairs at New York University. The Iman replaced another Russian ship "which had been sent to Syria for demonstrating (sic) the Russian presence in the turbulent region and possible evacuation of Russian citizens," the Black Sea Fleet told Interfax.

RIA Novosti, a news outlet with strong ties to the Kremlin, trumpeted the news in a banner headline that appeared only on its Arabic language website. The Russian embassy to the U.S. and to the U.N. had no comment, saying they have "no particular information on" the arrival of a Russian anti-terrorism squad to Syria.

Moscow has long enjoyed a cozy relationship with the Assad regime, to which it sells billions of dollars of weapons. In return Russia has maintained a Navy base at Tartus, which gives it access to the Mediterranean.

Last week Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia had no plans to send troops to Syria.

"As for the question whether I consider it necessary to confront the United States in Syria and ensure our military presence there… in order to take part in military actions -- no. I believe this would be against Russia's national interests," Lavrov told lawmakers, according to RIA Novosti.

Russia's Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov denied reports that Russian special forces were operating inside Syria. He did say, however, that there are Russian military and technical advisors in the country.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland said the U.S. government had not heard of the reports of Russian troops in Syria and declined to comment.
Re: The Obama Impeachment

Garrick, I am saying I have my doubts the naked emperor will give up his throne even if he is voted out later this year.

Concerning the campaign, the following uttered mantras need to be aired by Romney's deep pockets: "Under my plan, energy prices will necessarily skyrocket." Pile on comments about the healthcare "reform" and how it will lower costs and you can keep your doctor. Replay comments made with Barack campaigning against high gas prices. Open and transparent administration. Comments about getting unemployment below 8%, halfing the deficit.

TONS of fodder that can be shoved down the throat of the populace leading up to the election.

Not sure it will matter if he wins anyway, as only RP had a serious budget plan..."I'm f*cked anyway" seems to fit the national mood to a "T."
So you and G both think Mitt will take down Obama? We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
Mitt will win. He's hands down a model citizen. Incredibly intelligent. Hard working. And he's to the right of McCain.

The only reason why Gingrich is in the race is because that Adelson guy in Vegas wants to torpedo Santorum's campaign. If Gingrich left, a lot of his support would swing to Santorum. By keeping Gingrich in the race, Adelson keeps Santorum from winning. And seeing how seemingly unintelligent Santorum is, this is a good thing imho.

Also, now that I'm discussing the remaining candidates, people who support Gingrich aren't interested in beating Obama. They're interested in completely mocking him during an eventual presidential campaign. Gingrich has his own problems, not least that he's pussy-whipped by his wife. I think Gingrich vs. Obama is a close call and I think the Obama campaign will smear him left and right from day one, so I give Obama the win over Gingrich (particularly because he's got dirt on him).

And that aside, Gingrich isn't going to win the primary. Just impossible at this point.

Obama vs. Romney? No chance in hell Obama wins. Obama is alienating the jewish bloc. He's alienating the catholic bloc (which counts in the Northeast where Mitt is strong). And he's hilariously struggling with the female vote (because the democrats are notorious hypocrites ... Romney has the advantage with the female vote imo).

Side question: which is more likely: that Obama gets the same number of votes this fall as he did in 2008, or that he gets considerably fewer votes than he did in 2008?

Anecdote: I've seen precisely TWO "obama 2012" stickers on cars. I saw probably hundreds in 2008.

Anecdote: blacks are doing terrible under this administration. if Obama ever decided to identify with his white half, I think msnbc would start calling him a closet racist for how badly the black communities are hurting right now.

Obama will also be facing a few other things in the summer and fall

 1. higher gas prices.
 2. lots of talk of a secondary housing bubble to pop
 3. all the new grads in the summer who can't find work
 4. potential war in the middle east (of which he'll notoriously mishandle.)

a few other things, but minor ones.

Romney's biggest threat is,

Re: The Obama Impeachment

Gingrich is on his 3rd wife which is great lulz there. He has no chance and should just shut the hell up. Sheldon Adelson does want him to win, but he ain't going to do shit.

Romney will get the nom no doubt, that is inevitable, and honestly he looks like the most sane candidate from the Repubs IMO. It will be a close-ish race I think, but I wouldn't put anything past the American voters. Obama won't in any way get the great numbers like he did before. Since he didn't turn out to be Black Jesus like I've said 100x and turn all of us into millionaires in the 4 years he had to turn the world around, he isn't going to do so well, but I think he does have a decent chance. Also I believe Obama still has a very high black vote support if I'm not mistaken. But I think it will be close race...

But...It is like Jenks keeps saying...Every candidate now sucks ass. Both parties are extremists now and want all or none and will do whatever they can to fuck over the other party to get it, which makes it worse for everyone.

#1600526Post 21 of 176

Re: The Obama Impeachment

I disagree...Ron Paul is the most sane because he hasn't been bought by the same vested interests that are in part responsible for bringing us to the brink of cataclysm, not to mention his housing bubble predictions as early as 10 years before it happened. The spending under Barrack is actually making us all poorer by reducing the value of the dollar, so he's done the opposite of "making us millionaires."

Finally, it is difficult to distinguish between the lists of Mittens and Barry campaign donors; many of the same players very clearly playing both sides. With these two candidates, the status quo continues uninterrupted. Mitt is talking a good talk about needing to cut waste, but will he act on it (can he?)? Yes, big money is needed to win elections, but the election-buying isn't going to work in perpetuity, especially when the majority of voters begin to vote for the candidate who promises the most freebies. This is unsustainable, and this is Barry's modus operandi of late (we will help you...be more dependent on the govt). I can't understand why the black community would have the same enthusiasm 4 years later aside from those who vote based on race (and those who are the most gullible about govt. handouts and the unsustainability of hollow promises).

^exactly. what people say and even what headlines say is one thing. What goes on in the voting booth is another story. I know the more conservative members on the board are holding on to the hope that Romney is going to win, but I personally don't see it.

Shitt Money is as full of hot air as the current occupier. Flip-flopping is his specialty. O'Commie's projected deficit at the end of a 2nd term is at $20 trillion. #1600933Post 40 of 176

Re: The Obama Impeachment

^It's not quite that simple G. In order to out seat an incumbent you have to be a lot of things the incumbent is not and the American people want. It's difficult to out seat the incumbent. I think Romney will do well, don't get me wrong, I just don't think he has what it takes to out seat Obama. The American people, who have been rightfully pissed off, have aimed their frustration and rage at Obama, and that's partly the presidents job, to take criticism and deal with it, which btw is something Obama is pretty damn good at. Even though his approval ratings have diminished a lot, I still think more voters view Obama as the man who has their best interests in mind > a Romney candidate. That's simplifying things greatly, but that's what I think will happen. I don't think a lot voters are going to be walking out of the voting booth with huge smiles on their faces, but I do think more of them will choose Obama than Romney. As the election gets closer and the debates begin, I think a lot of this will become more clear.

I also think the majority of American's fall into the middle/lower class category socioeconomically, and I think they still feel burned by the Bush Admin and the Republican Party. I learned this first hand after having hundreds if not thousands of conversations with PISSED off replublicans 2 years ago during a campaign.

But we'll just have to wait and see...
