Re: Inglourious Basterds

Inglorious Basterds far exceeded my expectations - Tarantino delivered some absolutely riveting scenes of suspense, and got a very hype worthy performance from Christoph Waltz. Extremely well done, and nothing like I was expecting.

Great use of the David Bowie song for the framing of the final chapter, hard to believe that about 2/3rds of this film is subtitled, and absolutely amazing climax to the film. I wouldn't call it a World War II movie so much as it is a Western/Revenge film set during World War II.

One of the best films I've seen this year.

Re: Inglourious Basterds

It felt like on screen masturbation for me...I thought Waltz was very good..in fact the only highlight of the film...maybe a couple of funny jokes. However judging film as what it is I would give this an easy 4/10. The only Tarantino I didn't like...I just couldn't help thinking that the man is doing too much coke these days and that if this film were made by anyone but him it would have been a massive flop...that said... to each his own.

Re: Inglourious Basterds

^^that is too bad. i totally enjoyed this and it was much much better than i thought it was going to be. brad pitt really was not that big of a character in the movie like the trailers made it out to be, and that worked out to be a good thing imo. there were other great characters in this flick, and like others are saying, Waltz I hope gets an Oscar nod for this role, he was amazing.

The introductory scene, and the scene in the bar? Intense, so awesome. And what is even better is that almost all of this is subtitled, so great. I am really looking forward to watching this again, I loved this movie, easily one of my top fav movies of late, and of tarantinos.

Re: Inglourious Bastards

He needs to branch out and do something serious ... will wait for the DVD, his last one was pants.

#1279158Post 13 of 48

Re: Inglourious Bastards

this was brilliant. the acting was aces, and there was plenty of very clever, subversive humour.

So-so.

Re: Inglourious Bastards

Saw it last weekend and I enjoyed it way more than I anticipated. I also thought Brad Pitt kept the momentum of his accent well paced throughout the flick (other than his frowning brow which is becoming a little monotonous through his acting).

I'm with steph, the farm scene and the bar scene were just absolutely riveting.

Will easily give this an 8/10

Re: Inglourious Bastards

Pitt and the Jew Hunter were great. Pitt's really good with the accents.

Re: Inglourious Bastards

Thanks for giving me my next one from Blockbuster guys, I should look here more often. :)

Btw Because he is so pretty we tend to forget that Brad Pitt is actually a really good actor. I'm trying to remember the name of a film I saw ages ago where he managed to make himself ugly in every way.

Found it, Kalifornia :D

Re: Inglourious Bastards

That's how I felt about Kill Bill, but Inglourious Bastards was different I thought...well written, and full of suspense.

You didn't like Kill Bill?

#1329789Post 32 of 48

Re: Inglourious Bastards

^It was ok.... but I liked Inglorious Basterds better...

That whole kung-fu swords anime Uma Thurman style alot of people drooled about I found rather boring.

Maybe one day I'll watch Kill Bill again and like it, who knows....

#1329926Post 33 of 48

Re: Inglourious Bastards

Kill bill 1 and 2 are the ultimate tarantino movie , I' ve watched it a zillion x the times you've watched "the big lebowski" ... dude! lol

I think Kb 1 is definitely more into the martial arts but 2 is defo more into dialogues , though the spaghetti western theme is still ingraved in both of them .

Kill bill One i adore but kill bill 2 took me places ... it such an epic movie to watch

Re: Inglourious Bastards

this movie was the stupidest movie I have ever seen. I am not kidding. I want those hours back more then Will Smiths Ali. What absolute nonsense that movie was.

I already saw this movie about tough jews.

it's true.. you know it. I mean what was the story line? Tough Jews go over and kill Hitler? I mean how do you even get funding for a project like that?

AWFUL
