Re: Transformers
my bet is that micheal bay is going to screw this one up ... i agree that he is good at directing big budget action films that people get to see something get blown up every 5 mins but those movies although fun to watch does not have any substance in them
transformers is more than just a big budget substanceless action flick .. i know lots of kids grew up watching transformers regiously back then and have wonderful memories of the show
having speiberg on board doesnt do anything i reckon, since he has already screwed up in my books with war of the worlds. lets hope im proven wrong in 2007.
hollywood has done it again! they're so dried up they have to make cartoons into movies. where's the originality these days?
where's the originality these days?
theres none im afraid :|
where's the originality these days?
Try watching some of the stuff coming out of Korea. Oldboy, JSA, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Attack the Gas Station and tons of others are fueling the truth that Korean cinema is the most original and exciting place for films to be coming out of lately.
Re: Transformers
live-action? i can't imagine it. the last manifestation of transformers i'm aware of was some jungle cat thing.
the original movie is great. orson welles' final flick. i think he died before it was done and leonard nemoy had to finish the voice of the planet eating robot...

I've been saying for years that Hollywood has run out of ideas. It's all sequels, remakes and video and comic book movies now. And lame ass romantic comedies, but they've always been the same movie anyway.
All of that said, I'm all over a live action Transformers movie. :D Who knows how sick shit will look by then. This movie could be mind blowing........visually at least.
Re: Transformers
What's next He-Man the movie???
Re: Transformers
You're about 18 years too late
Transformers: The Movie
This should be interesting to check out ... directed by Michael Bay.

Re: Transformers: The Movie
I have a feeling he is going to ruin it.
Re: Transformers: The Movie
I hope it will be at least decent. Transformers is a childhood classic. Anyone know what the storyline will be?
Re: Transformers: The Movie
Some robots transform here and there to cars and tanks and save the world. End of story.
Re: Transformers: The Movie
Actually I think it is about an 80s series that gets rehashed into a CGI-driven formula movie in an effort to make money by selling merchandise and DVDs.
Re: Transformers: The Movie
there goes another classic down the toilet
Re: Transformers
it will be a cartoon or computer animated?
Re: Transformers
last i heard its a live action movie .. so i assume that the robots would most likely be CGI
Re: Transformers
The official title is now Transformer: Prime Directive.
Isn't Prime Directive a Star Trek thing?
And apparently we'll get to see ipods, xbox 360 and plasma tvs transform too.

Re: Transformers
Here is something that will get most hardcore fans quite upset, Megatron is not a gun nor is he a tank or canon, he is in fact an alien jet. And that is my biggest problem with this script, Megatron has to resemble what the fans remember from the cartoons and comics. He has to be a canon, tank or something of that nature, not an alien jet.
i hope that is not true ... it would just ruin the entire movie :(
why cant these people get the facts right when they adapt comics into movies ... they have pictures to follow for crying out loud
Re: Transformers
hmm... I really loved Transformers. Hope they won't f*** this one up
Re: Transformers
You know, just be glad they did not make Megatron a dildo or anything of the sort... only THEN we can cry foul. ;)
the original movie is great. orson welles' final flick. i think he died before it was done and leonard nemoy had to finish the voice of the planet eating robot...
You are dead on 100%. The old man never made it all the way through. Oh well. I first heard about this new project months ago and either way, I can't wait to see it. I'm curious if it's gonna be more based on what we saw around here in the States as children or the original series version that was portrayed in Japan. I've been collecting the japanese series and man, they've got some great storylines going on over there. Did you know that the cartoon is still going strong over there? It's not the candy-coated bullshit that we got here in the US. Figures. Just like how they totally fucked up Macross and made it into three generations that didn't relate in any way. :roflmao:
Re: Transformers
I need to bust out my VHS copy of Transformers: The Movie... but I have the bitch version that Rhino released with the edited intro credits, makes me mad. I hope the DVD version is not the same, as I was planning on getting that at some point.
Aaaaand I am a fan of the American Robotech... despite blaring continuity errors!
Re: Transformers
That bit about Megatron being an alien jet, that's based on the more recent Japanese version. He's called Gigatron, leader of Pedacon or something ... and he even transforms into a claw ... like, Gigaclaw.
Hey they have Hello Kitty vibrators ... wouldn't put it pass the Japs to stick vibrating Gigaclaws into vaginas. Puts an all-new spin on fisting
Re: Transformers
I love fisting.
Re: Transformers
The 80's movie was amazing, some classic lines (and songs too - Stan Bush-dare is awesome!)
Megatron must be stopped............no matter the cost!
This will be a turkey......guaranteed

List of Transformers revealed
There was a yahoo live webcast with the writers of the Transformers movie earlier today. They officially announced the characters that are going to be in the movie as well as answered questions sent by the fans, Here are the characters as followed.
Autobots:
Optimus Prime noble, elegant and shakespearean leader of the Autobots
Bumblebee scout, smallest of the Autobots, most connected to humans
Jazz very eager, very contemporary and very stylish; looks at human culture and picks out what he likes best
Ratchet medic/science officer, smartest of the Autobots; vehicle mode: Emergency vehicle
Ironhide tough and gritty soldier, the muscle in the Autobot team
Decepticons:
Megatron most advanced being in the universe, not purely evil, has a darwinist approach towards humanity (survival of the fittest), treats humans like we treat animals
Starscream plotting to overthrow Megatron, the classic "banter" between Megatron and Starscream is intact
Brawl a pissed off, eager brute who charges into battle, even if there's no point in doing so
Bonecrusher the most Constructicon-like of the bots; a fascist who hates all Decepticons except Megatron
Barricade a scout, a camouflaged hunter, vehicle mode - cop car
Scorponok most BeastWars/Dinobot-like bot, makes total sense in the environment he's in (desert, scorpion)
Frenzy infiltrator; the character evolved from Soundwave to Frenzy; very small
Blackout transport for the Decepticons, kind of like the Decepticon version of "Ratchet"; sends out an EMP-blast to block out all electronical detection devices prior to a Decepticon attack, so "you won't know what hit you".
Re: List of Transformers revealed
Wtf. No Soundwave!!!!?!?!??!. Fuck This Shit.
Re: List of Transformers revealed
You can't have a Transformer movie without Soundwave.
