Re: Sin City

i can't get a grasp on what this movie is exactly. it looks like it could either be a HUUUUUGE flop or one of the most innovative movies in recent years. whatever it is, it has really caught my attention. i can't wait to see it.

Re: Sin City

Looks interesting. Might have to go catch it on the big screen.

Re: Sin City

This movie is a defeintly see movie on the big screen and I think Bruce Willis is back after the recent bad movies he's done although the comedies he's done was pretty funny with Bruce Willis forget the name of it right now.

It's this year's Pulp Fiction. Trust

Re: Sin City

Looks real interesting considering the forces behind the movie. Frank Miller who wrote great stories for comic books and Robert Rodriguez directing. Dont' mention Quentin directing a scene I believe and the many stars in it.

Re: Sin City

I have been looking foward to this for such a long time....

#378542Post 10 of 85

Re: Sin City

I'm sceptical about it. Must probably it will be just another Hollywood blunder. I doubt that any movie based on Miller's work will ever stand up to the original , becasue it takes alot of vision and balls, and almost never brings $. Sad but true

On the other hand the trailers I've seen are more than tasty, really creative camerawork I have to say.

Re: Sin City

this movie is going to kick ass, i'm counting the days. I've read all the books (well, 3/4 quarters of the way through hell and back) which wont be in the movie but all the books are fucking amazing. They are exactly the way the trailer looks.

according to Miller and Rodriguez (co-directors) They said they basically reproduced frame by frame from the comics

Re: Sin City

Too much hype. Too many big names. From the technical side of things it will definitely be awesome and I will see it just for that... but as a whole my money is on a flop. I did see the first six minutes.. many unfinished shots and you can tell its ripped right out of a comic book which in my opinion doesn't really translate well to motion picture.

What worked well in a comic book won't nesessarily work in a movie, esp since the narration flow has to be continuous in a movie. Anyway as palmer pointed out there is way too many big names on the payroll and it raises a red flag.

Re: Sin City

Don't forget what Rodriguez did to us with 'Once upon a time in Mexico' he has all the self control and grace of an obese person on rollerskates after an experiment with a mescaline derivative. I wouldn't hold your breath.

this may be the best analogy i have ever heard (or read, in this case).

looks fucking great, will definately be seeing this when it hits theatres

Re: Sin City

OMG  :RightOn: :Respect: I was a disbeliever but now stand corrected. This movie is stunning! It has balls, it has vision, it's pure Sin City brought to the big screen.

Rodriguez with his violent humor and Frank Miller adding wicked visual concepts really formed an extremely powerful duo. This movie looks like nothing before, but it also got great script with lots of memorable lines.

The crew responsible for casting should be given tons of oscars or other sheah as they selected none other but the ones, that should be playing roles in Sin City. Mickey Rourke simply blew me away :Bingo: Jesus I don't remember when I saw last so many big names playing episodes :P

Ah there is also kickass music, lots of trippy John Zornesque jazzy phucked up sounds :D I love it.

I could write a lot more (e.g. mention the ridiculous amounts of beautiful women), but it really makes no sense - u have to see it for yourself. This will surely be a clasic. Full stop

Re: Sin City

EASILY one of the most ground breaking, shocking and inventive movies ever made. I saw this movie a good 5 hours ago and even now I cannot stop thinking about it...it's that memorable. How this film got away with an R rating I will never understand. WARNING: if you are easily offended or grossed out, do not see this movie. Not 30 seconds goes by between the next naked hooker, beheading, mutilation, profanity, you name it...this movie is so over the top I'm at a loss for words to describe it. I'm not going to attempt an actual "review" because I think I need to see it again to really grasp all that it presents to you.

If you are at all interested in pulpy, dark, ultra-violent, yet freakishly funny movies GO SEE THIS ONE TOMORROW...NOW EVEN. Love it or hate...you will never forget it.

Re: Sin City

HMMMMM Don't get out too much to the movies...believe that the price to watch a film (10$) is crazy...but may make an exception for this film....

Re: Sin City

this movie was amazing... one of the best movies i have seen in a while... lived up to the hype by far... cheers :Cheerz:

#405265Post 24 of 85

Re: Sin City

I've seen it 4 times so far, twice sober and twice high. Both times the experience has been amazing. It's gotta be one of the best movies of the last 5 years...

#405456Post 25 of 85

Re: Sin City

The movie was good. I didn't like the 1st story, but the second two were great. I can definitely see Tarantino's influence in the movie though. Wow! Jessica Alba... Hot, hot, hot!

#405468Post 26 of 85

Re: Sin City

Amazing movie. I saw it last week and can't wait to own in on DVD. This movie isn't for everyone. It's definitely for the type of person that enjoys Tarantino movies.

#405470Post 27 of 85

Re: Sin City

Tarantino only directed one sequence, that's why he is credited as "special guest director," instead of getting full credit. The scene where Dwight is talking to Jackie boy's dead body while he's driving down the road. When his slit throat keeps fucking up his talkng...that's it. Everything else is Rodriguez/Miller. But I can see what you mean. Alot of the scenes are Tarantino-esqe. Maybe Frank Miller was a big influence on him...they share a similar sick sense of humor.

Re: Sin City

I think it is a copy of Kill Bill

#428164Post 29 of 85

Re: Sin City

Care to explain how?? Kill Bill is a kung-fu revenge movie, Sin City is a comic book based action thriller. Where are the similarities?? :NotMe:

Re: Sin City

This movie is weird but so fucking kicks ass man...Have to see it again to get a grip on the storyline I tell ya. Barely getting to grips with it.

For me it might very well be the ultimate movie...it's just so ?bercool!

#429944Post 31 of 85

Re: Sin City

Agree with you 100% man. :Bingo: I haven't gotten around to seeing it again like I thought I would have, but I definitely still want to. It's just too much to take in at one time.

Re: Sin City

Just had the opportunity to saw this movie yesterday and what an outstanding movie indeed, its one of the best movies i've seen since Pulp Fiction, talking about PF it sounds like it cuz Quentin Tarantino was a special guest on this one producing some parts of the movie. Rodriguez did it extremely well reproducing the Miller's books into cinema, the environment is great, the scene is completely digital, the stories are fantastic, so much violence, crime, corruption.. all in all its a superb movie :)

Couldn't agree more. It is quite violent, so probably not a good date movie, unless your girl is into that sort of thing :Die:

Re: Sin City

this movie gets an A for originality. i dont know how they pulled that off making it look like a real-life/ digitized/ animated feature. ive never seen anything like it. the stunts that big ugly guy pulled were amazing. it`s like a comic-book on the movie screen.

#437951Post 36 of 85

Re: Sin City
it`s like a comic-book on the movie screen.
Exactly. The film crew gets a "Mission Accomplished" on their execution. If you look at one of the graphic novels it is literally frame for frame off of the page.
