Damn the soundcloud link is all used up. :( I was waiting so I could download in off peak. I'm nearly out of bandwidth.

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010
Amazing how many people judge with their eyes instead of their ears
So true. !!! Sort of sad that although this site is a Digweed Temple we can't get the best quality. :( Btw I'm assuming any recording is going to lose something, so recording in a higher bitrate would make sure you don't miss as much. Your 320 recording will not be 320 quality, but it has a chance of being closer to the original .

@simonr . Your right, bad music is always bad, but good music can become great with better quality. . One of the reasons I am enjoying music as much as I ever have in my life is the extra quality we have been getting from some of our Djs The MS birthday mixes are just amazing. !!

The saddest thing thing for me is that in this digital age we accept less ??? Hard drives are ridiculously cheap, storage shouldn't be an issue.

Btw, Haven't listened yet, d/loading all the different ones to compare. But the hype has me excited :D

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

Much wisdom and truth in those words
Working with John Digweed was a very rare opportunity, because he is an artist that doesn't fit the general preconceptions that apply to some DJs. He doesn't play any gimmick on stage. He is not distant, but he doesn't pretend that he is in a state of exhilaration either. His performance is entirely about the music. It looks like choosing the right track for the right moment and for a particular crowd is for him an utter act of kindness. He is generous but patient. Popular but somehow mysterious. Both light and dark. He is central to what is happening but at the same time he is mostly away from the limelight. He likes to think of himself as somebody that can keep calm and quiet right in the eye of the storm, but also is capable to react quickly and unpredictably.
Pablo Casacuberta

I am only an hour into this mix and WOW... Digweed has really pushed it on this mix, every track sounds perfect and in just the right place...plus all new stuff to me... Will be listening to this for a long time...

I saw him two weeks ago in Basel, Switzerland in a very small club for 3 hours and he was top notch as usual .

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

Anyone have a direct MP3 link to the download? I see no point in there being a .rar or .zip for a set, whats the point of the extra compression on the file? Just give us the .mp3.

#1377945Post 103 of 212

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

Why can't you just uncompress the RAR file? :p:roll:
All based on his magnificent set from Sankeys a couple of weeks back ... what a night that was :P
Is this the flyer? Do we have pics from the night? Or anything we might use as album covers?

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

would i be right in saying that we got the best sound out of mixes back when ALL DJ's played vinyl??? You cannot beat that warmth.

#1377968Post 106 of 212

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

This isn't a vinyl vs CD/mp3 issue, we're discussing the fidelity of the rip.

yeah that should be the flyer for that night. Im even more annoyed now that I see he played for 3 hours. Just looking at his dates for the next couple of months to see if I can possibly make any of them. Seems like he really is on fire at the moment.

Re: John Digweed Radio 1's Essential Mix, May 29, 2010

I would really be interested to see how long a DJ plays for is decided. Digweed said in an interview that they weren’t paid by the hour, but I'm guessing they have to to a point. Otherwise everyone would book them to play longer. I'm sure they would get paid more for a 6 hour set than 90 minutes and if they where having a good time they mite carry on playing.

If its a three hour set we must sent tones of emails to diggers to air the third on transitions !.

But if they let them play longer they can only book so many DJs. A lot of promoters think that more DJs bring more people.

He condensated the 3 hours into two. It's not the first two hours of his set at Sankeys. And I think he said at the beginning of the mix that he played for 4 hours.

correct he "based" the emix on the 4.5hr set he played at sankey's, the emix is a studio mix that reflects the kind of set he played at the club a few weeks ago

Just getting this im a little behind but excited to hear.. I still think his best emix was 2002 I believe from bedrock that was unbelievable at a time when so many were churning out boring sets.
