humph

i'm not too sure

the tunes were good, and he played hard tough acid tinged dingleberries - but it didn't flow for me, his techy stuff is great on a CD, but 6 hours is a little much. so i'm a little disappointed. but he did rock the place. i have to collect my thoughts. and yes - shock horror - i left early.

hopefully i can give you peeps a sample of goodness when the pics and vids arrive from the dove from above.

morgan it was great to finally meet you, although i lost you as soon as we hit the dance floor. MJ was schnozzled again. just ask him what he thought of the music. har har. silverfoxx it was nice to meet you too. and sevan it was good meeting you....looking forward to hear your mix for jibby!

techy stuff is good. well...tech-housy stuff or techno stuff? hmm..either or him playing techy stuff is a good deal. :D

i would love him to play some bangin techno for once. oooooofa! that would be great. 8)

can't believe you left early though. damn.

Re: john digweed @ fabric 12 february 2005

jeez Hos! six hours of techiness?!?!?! i can't blame you for leaving early...

anyone got any track id's from the show??

#358119Post 6 of 64

I never thought I'd say this... but I was very, very disappointed. :(

Having heard the Fabric 20 CD before we went out I was even more excited and although the first hour was pretty good ? good tempo, shades of early Chicago house and a bit techy ? the rest of the set was just too banging and way too techy. There just wasn't any structure, the occasional prog. tune offered promise but quickly slipped back into the acidy tech stuff. No melodies, no tunes ? from the man who's given me so much, last night he gave me but a glimpse of the Digweed I know.

We stuck around till 6am in the hope that things would improve but it just didn't. Honestly, I don't think I've been that bored in a club for ages. As Hos says though, the place was rocking. It just wasn't for me ? or anyone I was with for that.

And to say there was more room on the dancefloor when Sasha's been there recently doesn't say much. We settled behind the DJ booth where the acoustics weren't so good but at least we could breathe.

Sad to say I didn't meet anyone either :( Next time eh

Roll on May 21...

Re: john digweed @ fabric 12 february 2005

hey dont write the guy off so soon it wasnt long ago some people were slating sasha for his albeton adventures!!!!!!(and some still are) im going to see digweed next week i hope i have good things to report back and we can call fabric a blip from the man like DIGWEED!!!!!!!

berps ps hos how long till u get any photos/vidz u took @ fabric sorted ??????

#358195Post 11 of 64

shame on you Hos... shame! :|

#358213Post 12 of 64

I'm not writing the guy off, but imagine spending a shitload of $$$ to go see him in Ibiza and London like we did last year and getting to listen to 90% of shit he never played before and you don't like. It's frustrating that's all. At least I'm not the only one saying that the shit he's playing doesn't really work for 6+ hours.

#358216Post 13 of 64

^word. i'm not slating him. and i didn't say it wasn't good. it was just commenting on flow and, yeah, i think it didn't flow because of the style he was playing. i think there are better djs out there at playing this style.

#358218Post 14 of 64

My God HOS! Good for you! you are one of the few people out there with the balls to say that. I'm proud of you. I feel the same though.

#358223Post 15 of 64

cheers bro. and unless you're on something you can't enjoy yourself in that sardine tin that is room 1

#358227Post 16 of 64

I know, I haven't "been" on anything for years so, yeah that room can be a bit too much! I was there last October for their 5th birthday and it was PACKED. While waitin in the queue for 3 hours after Audio Deluxe I heard a lovely debate between a girl gooner and 2 man ure blokes, it was class!

Re: john digweed @ fabric 12 february 2005

hey guys i wasnt cussing you because of your opinons i was just refering to the comment "FALL OF DIGWEED/RISE OF SASHA"

After hearin a recent mix he did for dance department (which sounds like the way he played on saturday) i didnt like and that was only half an hour so i feel for u guys that went and paid ya bucks to listen to him play something you werent to keen on for 6 hours. Ive always rated digweed for the way his sets build up and blow you away(remembering some of the final hours of his shindig sets)Then i heard fridays transition show and it was totally different, some thing that im used to hearing from digweed.Mr reliable is maybe mixing it up a little bit,but not got it quite right yet.

It maybe needs a little more thought to get the balance right like i said im going to see him next weekend i wouldnt miss it for fear of missing an absolute stormer of a set if it turns out he plays the same sort of stuff and with no flow like he did saturday then i may think twice about going to see him again but thats the chance you take i suppose.

just my 2 penarth

#358242Post 18 of 64

yeah berps i know you weren't cussing, i just wanted to solidify my positon on this.

you should definitely go. because you might like it. i honestly think i would have got into it more had i been on something. just ask MJ!

Al, those were the days for us gooners, everything looked so bright in october

#358244Post 19 of 64

Yikes - this doesn't bode too well for Godskitchen - plus I'm just not digging the stuff John's playing this year and I'm not that fussed on tech.

Still its nice to have some honest reporting - its a big shame for the like of Hypoluxxa who travelled half way round the globe last year to be disappointed.

As John will play a shorter set at Birmingham this may work in my favour - hopefully with less fillers and more substance. I'll report back in a few weeks.

the rise of Sasha was in 1990 mate, end of story!

#361027Post 26 of 64

Re: john digweed @ fabric 12 february 2005

I'm beginning to lose faith aswell......

That's the last bedrock and now fabric where digweed's been below par for me.

Clever mixing and intricate bassllines - I'm all for set building, but it's frustrating that we have to wait until 5-6am for things to get going. Not that it reached anywhere near the level of sasha pre-christmas. Having to take things just to enjoy it, is not my idea of a decent set these days.

Maybe I'm turning away from the darker side, but in retrospect, waiting for lisle and gerrard next week would have been the smarter move.

#361138Post 27 of 64

Thats what you'd expect when someone plays in a house club. I doubt the owner would like him to play 6 hours of dark prog. Even though he'd make just as much money because it's digweed.

#361145Post 28 of 64

errr, i was there til 8am. tho i didn't go onto the dancefloor til about 4. was way too heaving. I loved virtually every minute of it.

It has nothing to do with any "little friends" Hos! It isn't there anymore, hopefully he'll leave that genre its proper DJ's and get back to what we all know and love, and bring the voertex back. We'll find it around 4:00 am even without "little friends". :D

isn't it crazy the sheep mentality of forums? you get us here, generally being a little dispondent, whereas on bedrock everyone is creaming. i'm scared to post there now for fear of virtual interweb castration!

I'm glad you're being honest. Nobody really talkls to me there except for Andy anyways, I guess that my less than enthusiastic response and complete disgust with Diggers latest CD didn't make me very popular there. I still love that board and hope that one day I can like what Diggers plays again.

I've noticed this too. It's funny - on gu it's the same. I think it depends on the first post in a review topic - if it's similar to yours you tend to post some confirmative response, if not you simply don't post there. That's why it seems that the whole board shares one opinion.

Hear, hear...

I'm still feeling despondent and slightly robbed ? 3 months in the waiting and over ?50 spent...

Seems to be a few in agreement on the Bedrock board though, or some murmurings anyway :?
