^^WOW. Obvisouly the complexity of this mix is doing what it is supposed to. Getting a wide variety of opinions.

I thoguht the whole thing was brilliant. So much different then anything else that has ever been released as a comp.... & btw chimpmunk track doesnt bother me one bit.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Agree with all the people that says this is a grower... After a couple of listens don't like Cd2 that much (though not bad at all) but Cd1 is a great piece of work imo..

possibly in my case, it is impossible to read a better review than that .. here or anywhere

.. especially in this case of henry saiz .. knowing where his mind can go when the issue is to create music

like here in this proyect, where henry several times told to us I'm going to Lanzarote island

.. just to simply continue doing what ..the best review possible up there .. says!

listening to the first 15 minutes since an hour ago .. and makes me remember how 15 years ago, it was possible to appear in other worlds just finding flutes .. . . and then we were still seeing the others from afar

no idea what comes after this 15 * but this is the sound I would like to live outdoor with saiz
tried this mix again today. Cant get into it all. That chipmunk track on the first cd must be the worst piece of music on a balance cd thus far
Couldn't agree more, I have to flip past tracks 6 and 7. They kill the vibe. Sounds like Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are having a three way on ecstasy.

" But when I heard it I loved it. :D Love the way the vocals come together with musical instruments ! Interestingly it is in the mini promo and it does sound bad. Unless you hear it in top quality it doesn't work.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

The second track or whatever it is at 7 mins on CD 1 is AMAZING. That sums up the fresh and musical experience to me.

Ohh the reviews are good. CD coming in this weekend. Seeing the prophecy in July and cannot wait to experience this on the dance floor.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

...I've heard CD1 more than 10 times now.. I love Honey wine into Little Mountains, Lady Mirror, and Eterno Retorno.. but, there is something missing. I keep trying to find what it is, and that prevents me from enjoying the whole mix. I think it might that the build up to Lady Mirror is too slow and it can't keep me interested.. i was thinking it might be the slower BPM in general, but then I really liked Cattaneo's Parralel, so that can't be it. I keep comparing it to Balance 18..i know they are very different and I shouldn't, but can't help it :) CD2 from Nick's is just brilliant.. Its somehow.. more precise..it has more "bang" which I really like. There is nothing on Saiz's CD1 that can make me move like what Nick does for pretty much 80% of his CD2..

It is all personal preference... while listening last night, I thought that the difference reminded me of going to a Digweed show (Balance 1 8) and then going to a Sharam show (Balance 19).. while I would have fun at the second party and I will enjoy myself, it won't have a lasting effect.. while Digweed.. well it blows your mind and you want to go back for some more the next day!

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Just finished a proppa listen on the home stereo. and my gosh!. i cant beleive barely anyone is hyping cd2. it blew me away much more so than cd1.... for some reason cd1 sounded better the first time on headphones at work. at home wasnt totally into it.

but cd2 is just on another level.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

I did mention a few pages back I was more partial to CD 2

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Ok, finally gave it a listen last night. For me disc one is 10/10... loved it!!

Disc two wasn't as interesting... just seemed like banging track after banging track. But in the right environment I'm sure I'd love it more.

Overall awesome compilation.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

So, after listing to Henry transitions mix from 2 weeks, which I fokin loved and all the debate that is going on here. I decided to pay Balance 019 and I am happy that I did J I personally love Henry Saiz sound ( his kiss mix from 2009 still one of my fav and get the frequent play time). So listened to CD 1 and though it was good (nothing amazing) i think i need to play it again couple of times, but CD 2 it bloody brilliant IMO.

I think he is a brilliant DJ & producer and I defo love this comp J

I'd put CD1 up there with one of the best discs in the entire Balance series. There, I said it.

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

After several listens to this, I have to say again that so many Djs try this weird/different sounds thing, and all it sounds like is ordinary music , or sometimes very good music, with weird/different sounds added  Every sound on the album is an integral part of the music. :) He really is a bit of genius . :D Plus he worked bloody hard at it

CD 1 Absolutely love !!! :D But CD2 absolutely loves me. I get lost in it !! :D

#1519726Post 145 of 218

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

^Ditto.

After 10 pages there's absolutely nothing else I can say about this. What an amazing fusion of experimental, progressive, and minimal tech house. Composed by a genius. CD1...still speechless. This is coming close to record of the year so far. Just awaiting Sasha for Balance 020 :D

And yes this track is on fucking repeat:

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

im with the guy above me...blown away. it was everything i hoped it would be and more. what i did is listen to disk 1 for about 2 weeks then after i felt like i got a good feel of it went for disk 2...holy shit. it was like getting hit by a bus. reminded me what i love about house/prog/whatever you want to call it. it honestly remnded me of digweed @ vagabond when at certain points of the night i was left speechless by the sounds coming out of the speakers.

its real hard when listening to my headphones while at the supermarket not to bust out dancing in the midlle of the bread isle :)

i would easily call it album of the year but havent to listened to much else yet. but def one of the best i've heard in years.

#1524249Post 147 of 218

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

^^ All of the above particularly the bread aisle bit !

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Henry was criticized for including mostly his own tracks or remixes. However, I quite like this and think in some ways it could be the future for mixed albums.

With so many 'free' sets available online this approach of entirely exclusive tracks is what sets it apart. Sure, perhaps more down tempo mixes don't really fall into this category but I still like the concept as it creates a really cohesive piece of work (reminiscent of Sasha's Involver).

#1524290Post 149 of 218

Re: Henry Saiz 'Balance 019'

Ok who criticised him??? I want to hunt them down

Seriously, his tracks are great , he should use them. !! What is important is that the whole is wonderful !! If he can do that with nearly all his own work , all power to him !!
