I keep thinking I'm on the wrong site :lol: What has happened to the banners??? No Hernan, no Danny, no Nick , no Sasha :( And John only rates a part of the bedrock sign :(

Villalobos I can understand... sort of... I mean the guy is a huge "leader" in the electronic scene nowadays. Matthew Dear... well yeah, he´s good, and achieved some success... but, Claude VonStroke? Seriously, it´s not a matter of him being good or bad, but if he has achieved "MS Banner" status, than I can safely say that there´s like, 50 other artists in our DJDB who deserve to be there too.

I mean, why him, why not Troxler, Gerber, Liebing, Beyer, etc?

As for Ida, well it´s because she´s hot, right, because even though I think she´s an amazing DJ, she´s nowhere near the status of someone like Magda, Anja Schneider, even Cassy, except they don´t look as good.

(oh and I feel pretty safe in saying this because I don´t even listen to Danny, Hernan, Sasha or Diggers´ anywhere as much as I used to).

I thought it all a bit weird i have to say. In the banners thread somewhere else i suggested a Weatherall banner or maybe Jeff Mills, which was laughed at......

fair enough, they may not be as photogenic and shiny as people here would like but when i saw one up there of Ida Engberg (whoever the fuck that is? I had to check DJDB to get the surname) my heart sank.

Bad choice imo, better to have no banner at all than ones of "pin up dj" - bollocks

Some people (me, for example) don't like John, Hernan, Danny, Nick, Sasha, Bedrock, etc, but instead like other genres. If you think the artists in the banners above are bad, gimmick, etc artists, then welcome to the world of seeing Digweed and Sasha at the top for 8 years :lol:

I spent some time creating some new banners to try to keep the site feeling fresh. If anybody wants to help create banners for the site, please feel free to submit some. If you do decide to submit some, please submit one for someone who doesn't have a banner yet, because I don't want to have 50 banners of Nick Warren when we have thousands of other awesome artists out there. If you don't want to take the time to create a banner, please recognize that I also don't have time to find and create 1400 different high-res banners for every DJ that someone thinks is the hottest new artist, and I'm also not going to give your destructive criticism much credibility :)

I'm amazed that some people would rather have no banners or recycle 8-year-old banners than for me to put up a banner that leads them to learn about a new DJ

hey Adam, personally, I could give 2 shits about who´s up there (TBH, I wouldn´t have ANY DJ ;), but that´s just me and I´m no one around here), and like you, besides John I´ve barely listened to any of the DJ´s you mention for the past 3 years myself. I was just trying to understand the criteria.

I have no talent whasoever in graphical stuff, but maybe I´ll try my hand at doing some for Donato Dozzy, or Traversable Wormhole, I like them and they have the added bonus of being ugly fucks :lol:

There's no criteria other than I don't want someone who already has a banner :) I just want some fresh content up there, and something that might spark some interest in others to go investigate the artist. If we can get enough artist banners up there, maybe I'll rewrite the banner so it can be a clickable link to the DJDB profile

I think i prefer the banners without djs on. The old one of the plane wheel, the whiskey glass, that kind of thing. Just sayin.

That said i'd be very happy for our man Nikoa to have a crack at doing something black with the Dave clarke pic i posted. I think it'd look good but, again, that's me.

The banners are fucking great , its very refreshing and pleasing to see them . Sometimes I spend minutes watching them kindda like a slide show while Im listening to music.

I was very pleased to see villalobos upthere... :) I said it before new times , new music , new sounds and new artists are always welcomed in my world :)

Personally I'd say stick the glowy ball on the top link bar, get rid of the banner and save my mouse wheel 200px of scrolling on each page :lol:

It's still a mixture of artist banners and general ones, just the ones you have mentioned aren't online right now. The new motives are a nice Change imo and we are updating the rotation motives regularly (and also use older ones again) so your heroes aren't gone forever, don't worry. ;)

Misunderstanding, at least from me, I'm not complaining about the banners that are up , I welcome diversity. But why scrap the others. ??

Btw I see the banners as my welcome to this forum :) Not an educational tool. Plus we already have the reccommended Djs Just quietly those Djs I mentioned are the reason that a lot of us came to this forum, other wise we would be on RA. ;) Not that there is anything wrong with RA :lol:
