It seems like the only sets I ever hear from Hernan Cattaneo are his weekly Metrodance Radio shows

Has anyone heard any actual live sets recorded from when he tours??

I agree. I have seen him live twice and both times were amazing....

I wish there were more sets floating out there actually recorded live at clubs....

I just listened to his Metrodance set from January 15, 2005 and both parts are simply amazing. To me Hernan is the most consistent dj that is playing the best music out there....but i guess everyone has diff tastes

But try and compare him to Tiesto...Man thats just anal

no not really. look at the band wagon here at MS. i understand he is a "house" dj. I have given him plenty of listens. The only "decent" and I use that word vaguely, have been his kiss mixes. He is a good DJ, and sometimes even surprises me with some of his "throbbing" baselines. My valid and functional comparison to Tiesto still stands. I am sorry. But that guys shares the same groupies as Tiesto. You soon will see a headline "Tiesto Vs. Hernan Cattaneo 4x4. "

... Hesh.

hernan rulez :Respect:

If Tiesto is comparable to Hernan, I will have to give Tiesto another listen.

I think the vast grey area being overlooked is programming, genre means almost nothing to me, it's all about the vibe and how the tracks go together IHMO.

Hernan is solid. I second your sentiment Kobe.

You wanna go see him live, you would never breath Hernan and tiesticle in the same sentence after that.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo

Hernan's The Masters Series cd is pure masterpiece, his metrodance radio shows are great, but ... I saw him twice in last couple of months, and his live sets are just average and nothing more. Track selection is good, mixing skills fine, but something definitely missing :NotMe:

#345135Post 23 of 115

I hated his master series, BUT I love his live sets. I haven't been let down every time I've seen him spin. He always makes it a point to say hi because we're fans of the best football team in Argentina, if not the world. :D

#345141Post 24 of 115

and he an argentine, you can't beat that

#347317Post 25 of 115

his metrodance sets are the best thing going today  :D he is like a machine, always on

#347493Post 26 of 115

metrodance sets are average to me, a good way to pass 2 hours, but theres better stuff around for sure

yes really...so the only "decent" mixes you've heard are his Kiss mixes..I've seen him 3 times and he was the shit everytime...to compare him to Tiesto is way off the mark...Tiesto blows, and has always blown...hell, while talking to a well known trance producer/dj, who shall remain nameless so as to not incriminate him, I was told that Tiesto pays people to make his music for him...so not only does he not produce his own stuff, but he's a shitty dj as well...couldn't match a beat if his life depended on it...transitions are the worst I've heard...Hernan, on the other hand, can match beats, plays great sexy house music, and produces his own stuff...I think the comparison was completely unfair...

okay let's see....Armin Van Buuren (trance, trance,trance,trance,trance)... Dieselboy (jungle, jungle, d&b, jungle, d&b,d&b) Miguel Migs (Deep house, deep house, deep house, deep house) 50 Cent (Rap, Rap, Rap, Rap, Rap) Metallica (Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock,Rock)

...what's your point?

#347779Post 30 of 115

I loved that 20 min Cream mix from November ... pity that's all they aired.

The Electrofly@Proton set [ms] hosted in September was very dark ... but amazing - easily one of the best sets from last year.

Can't wait for his May/Jun Uk tour.

#347781Post 31 of 115

Re: Hernan Cattaneo

one of the best sets i've heard from him is his electrofly set from proton radio. Its only an hour long but its fuckin great, it should've been his 2nd cd on his renaissance cd.

Re: Hernan Cattaneo

WTF?????????????????

comparing hernan to tiesto?????????

je je, you just show you do not know anything about this music man

hernan is probably 1 of the more insane dj's around this times along diggers i guess, if you ever seen him live then you cant say nothing,

#348215Post 35 of 115

there is no fuckin way that tiesto compares in the slightest to hernan. I would put hernan next to digweed if anything. just too bad he went with perfecto instead of bedrock, but i guess money talks eh..

Hernan no 1 dj in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This man rockzzzzzzzzz.........

#349486Post 40 of 115

I saw him ...oooh... about 6 hours ago and I wasn't particularly overwhelmed. That's the same feeling (or lack of it) I got the last time he played here as well I'm afraid.

Mixing was generally very, very good. A couple of key issues, but nothing dramatic.

Tracks were often from the bigger end of the box, which never scores points with me. Some nice squelchy stuff but then he'd dive into prog trance and back out into house. Huge build-ups, big long quieter sections and repeat. Basslines were uninspiring. Just meh.

Programming. Not happy with this generally, but I think that's mainly cause I wasn't properly on board to start with.

He'd basically halved the size of the dancefloor 2 hours into the 4 hour set. Plenty of people still going mental.. just not anywhere near as many as at the start!

Anyone who's interested in Hernan's stuff will no doubt want to take a listen to his new Jan 2005 promo I put on inthemix: http://www.inthemix.com.au/fm/19485/

Enjoy :)
