Re: [ms] DJ Database

I standardized crop ratios on the My Artists photos on our homepage and all on artist screens. All photos used to come across in any image dimensions, now all are the same size
I just added new functionality that automatically tags the last 2 years worth of threads for an artist when a new artist is created.
THAT'S what I'm talk'n about!!!

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I THINK the code that recognises DJ names in posts and link them to the database is affecting URLs ...

Look at what happened to Homegrove's Soundcloud link:
http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/showthread.php?98649-Homegrove-Ideas-of-March-(Spring-2011-Promo)&p=939783&viewfull=1#post939783
You're definitely right.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just added some new code that should prevent it from happening on new posts

Awesome stuff so far pickle!

Re: [ms] DJ Database

Yeah amazing work. Seeing those auto-links in post was a pleasant surprise :)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I did some tweaks to the Artist pages. You can now subscribe to/unsubscribe from an artist by clicking the link to the far right of their name, or at the bottom of the screen in the same position. I realized how annoying it was for new members to scroll to the bottom of a bunch of artists just to subscribe to them
I just opened editing/tagging to all active "veteran" members :)
Just tried editing an artist and discovered this to my delight. Added a genre and fixed a URL on one with success. Bravo!

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just figured out how to take over that collapsable sidebar on the right of the forum home. I put some DJDB content up there :)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I think that looks really good Adam.

Is it possible to switch back to the view of recent posts if you want to?

#1483378Post 334 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I can only have one view across all members... if people were using the recent posts one I can probably add that back. I wasn't sure what was being used.

Also, if anybody has any ideas for additional/new content on this bar, let me know!

I find the view of recent postings more useful than pictures of djs that i've already subscribed to, i'd reckon.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

Agree! I would rather have info I don't have, although I admit I just saw a Dj on my list that I want to take off.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I turned them both on :)

Do we need both new threads and new posts? Or only one or the other? Sioce they're collapsible I don't mind both, but I don't want something that nobody uses
Do we need both new threads and new posts? Or only one or the other?
I would prefer both myself, both being of more use to me than pics of djs..
I don't want something that nobody uses
I speak only for myself of course, but the pics of djs in a sidebar is something that i don't think i'll ever use. It does improve the look of the page imo but not the function.

#1483722Post 339 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I see that there is both Subscribed Artists, Recommended, New Thread and New Posts! I like having all 4 that's a score for the board imo. good work adam!

#1483731Post 340 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

imo the forum threads and new posts should be at the top.... Maybe you can add some drag and drop arranging functionality :p

Yah, one day when the database is full of dj's it might make sense to have a recommended list, but for now, it is pretty far from my tastes as well. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm annoyed though .

#1483813Post 346 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

There are too many there I have been talked into trying before I knew just how far they were from my taste. So much great music I love , so little time !

#1483816Post 347 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

Tell me some artists that you like that you aren't subscribed to so I can try to figure out how to make it more accurate. Eventually people are subscrubed to everyone they like and it may not become so useful to them, but that's only one hundred of 47000 members :) it can be collapsed for those who are already subscribed to everyone they like

#1483818Post 348 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

There will always be new music and artists out there for me, but half the fun for me is actually finding my own. Ways I do this is through Djs I already follow., and people whose taste I know and who actually know mine, I think it's called community  And it's not something that any app can replicate yet. Although I'm sure someday it will

So how do I collapse it. ??? :)
