Re: [ms] DJ Database
The situation seems to scare off other users.
A big part of joining [ms] for me was the sharing of good music. I like posting a set i think is really good for other people to enjoy aswell but if every set that is released is being posted here first before anyone else gets a chance then i think it takes a bit of the fun out the board, well for me anyway.

Dont want to be over dramatic or anything but there you go

Re: [ms] DJ Database
Im glad you guys are seeing this too.

They might be nice guys but they are constantly posting every single mix they can find out there and then argue about whos link is better.

Think they are kinda ruining P & R for the rest of us tbh....
Well I actually hadn't noticed it, and even it I had I would have ignored it. It's just not a big deal, and sometimes posts like that give extra technical info when they argue about which is best. Definitely not ruining P & R :)

As if you could scare off people from P & R

In your opinion of course. ;)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I'm far more like the general population here in my browsing habits. If it doesn't worry me I would say it doesn't worry the majority. :) Just look at how many people are browsing P & R at any given time  I like that you guys do more important things than that. :)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I didnt say it worried me, i said it annoyed me with the scale of sets that get posted.

Its not a major thing, just my opinion.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

its true that the P&R is flooded with sets and it gets a bit annoying that everyday it fills up a couple of pages with every set thats out there, but as long as its not reposts i personally dont mind it...One man's junk is another man's treasure ;)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

DJ Database was created because of all of the content in P&R. :)

if you don't want to see all of the stuff you don't like, then subscribe to the stuff that you do. I'd love to see P&R activity double, IMO :D

#1451595Post 254 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

^^ actually since the DJDB i havent been scrolling the P&R like i used to, i just go there for the TL and feedbacks on sets directly from the homepage links...:hatsoff: Adam

So much damned good music here ;)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just finished a very large behind the scenes update. I've been working on this for a week now, which involved writing 100 lines of temporary code to change every field for all 1300 artists that we have stored, added an additional 75 lines of permanent code to be able to handle all the changes, and changing 150 lines of existing code to interpret user input differently. Long story short, I made a lot of very different changes to the way DJDB works and how it uses the data. I did a lot of testing before changing anything so we should be fine, but so much was changed that it's possible I didn't catch all errors.

There was no added/changed functionality in this release, so you shouldn't expect any visible changes. If anybody notices anything strange over the next week please let me know ASAP so I can investigate if I missed something :)

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just added a screen to show the latest artist submissions in increments of 50. Because this exists, I'm now going to stop posting the 100 latest artists in this thread--you can use this report to browse through all artists in order to make sure that you don't miss any.

http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?action=find&item=newest_artists

I have also added a link to this at the top of the main Artist listing screen.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just added some small updates.

Artist real names are now searchable Tag results display monikers/real names if a match was found on them instead of the DJ's name A "You are subscribed" checkbox is now displayed next to artists in artist search results and member view pages

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I just fixed a bug with the DJDB RSS feed... last week I made a change that accidentally caused the RSS feed to be delayed by about 20 sets. The fix has been made so that the RSS feed updates immediately when new sets are uploaded. Sorry guys!

This is the first time this has happened. Thank you to everyone for all of the efforts to make this a success :)

I FINALLY fixed the IE8 issues! I've been researching this for months and had given up at least ten times. If anybody who uses IE8 still sees issues with artists overflowing past the screen, please let me know.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

Quick suggestion, perhaps we can add a collapsible side widget that lists threads tagged with recent sets of subscribed DJs. (or perhaps a small text box under the header image with the last 5 threads.

Re: [ms] DJ Database

Judging by Latest Additions and Micko's thread it looks ok now.

Where, you mean on the forum view home? We already have subscribed threads show up on the Main CMS page

#1461156Post 278 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

yea but to get more traffic to the subscriptions, it'd be worth it to get it more face time rather than the CMS alone, don't know how many people actually just go there.

#1461329Post 279 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

I spent some time yesterday to patch 3 or 4 bugs, but I ended up breaking the thread tagging during new thread creation

This has been fixed now, and you can now search/tag an artist during new thread creation. Huggie, thanks for pointing it out :)

#1463201Post 280 of 352

Re: [ms] DJ Database

We don't need to tag threads anymore... [ms] does it automatically now :o:

If you type an artist's full artist name in the thread's title, they should be automatically tagged! For example, adding "john digweed" to the title will tag him, but just "digweed" won't. There will be a few occasions where it won't be able to find a tag, but the large majority should work ok.
