Re: Arranged Marriage
where have you heard that from? any sources? I'm from a state a couple of states north and I've never heard it even from the numerous keralites I have known back home.
Have a few Keralite colleagues out here, also from my sister's husband who is half Keralite, thankfully he doesn't have any brothers so no awkward predicaments there :-)

The 22% is of 12% of muslims and so that's a pretty small number, even for muslims in India. yea its very common in the Muslim world and even with Sindhis (another caste in India). I actually met a girl (a Sindhi friend of my wife) and she married her first cousin. stunner she was but she never did leave her family

Re: Arranged Marriage

punjab is a state that's partially split. the majority of the state is left over in india (after the india - pak split) and there are areas in pak also known as punjab. now being in pakistan, they do share a lot of the local customs. just as muslims in india celebrate diwali (the largest hindu festival).

Re: Arranged Marriage

Extremely interesting topic here. I know quite a Few couples who have had arranged marriages all very interesting stories to say the least. A few of them also very happy to have their parents do the leg work. I however cannot fathom marrying someone that I have known for ad extremely short period of time and of course as haziel pointed out - the issue with sex.
