Tsunami hits South East Asia
Re: Tsunami hits South East Asia
Did you guys hear that Sports Illustrated model suffered a broken pelvis and lost her boyfriend as she held on to the top of a palm tree for 8 hours. I saw it on the KTLA morning news, but I can't find anymore info on it.
how sad... a model lost her boyfriend.
how sad... a model lost her boyfriend.
I hope you weren't trying to be funny.
My heart goes out to everyone.... Horrible! Damn- I had tears coming down my cheeks reading the article & the Mom w/ 11 kids & searching for them & seeing the pics of the children & about them digging w/ trucks holes big enough to bury the children, etc.. SO Sad!!!
the worst part is ... it is mostly children. x2
40,000 dead till now this is without the lost people that they r lost unfound really bad situation but this is what god decided to do!

how sad... a model lost her boyfriend.
I hope you weren't trying to be funny.
I was.. and I think I succeeded
who gives a shit about a supermodel breaking a hip or losing a boyfriend. There's 39,999 other people dying and at least 400k people losing their spouses, children, or parents. I hate to be blunt about it, but in a situation like this I could care less what happens to 1 supermodel
some soccers players were there, like Maldini, Nesta, and Inzaghi, but they are all right. and auistralian football player is missing...

hopefully someone won't make a smart ass remark about his life being less important just becasue he's famous, and wealthy.
charts are saying 52,000 now and won't stop until aroung 60,000 they think.. what a horrible day in history.. any word on how tall some of the waves were in this tsunami??

-Psynce-
maybe some well know surfers could be dead...near the epicenter of the earthquake is the wave called "Tehupo". well, i supose they died surfing......

This is a good site aswell:

Very good information about "Tsunamis"
"The giant waves that rose to a maximum height of 1,720 feet (516 m) at the head of Lituya Bay, on July 9, 1958, were generated by a combination of disturbances triggered by a large, 8.3 magnitude earthquake along the Fairweather fault"

Very very sad. Its said that there will be as many as 3x the death toll due to the disease caused by the tsunami.
Anyways on a side note the quake that caused this was predicted earlier this month and this guy has a very scientific way of predicting them. If more people would listen to him maybe people can reduce the counts in the future:

Who cares about Jet Li? What about the 40,000 people? Do their lives no matter because they aren't on TV? The people that work for free in homeless shelters or volunteer at hospitals weren't important?
Fuck 'em. One life matters, but not any more than any other. It sucks if he's dead, but it doesn't suck any more than any other person that may be dead.

I never said it sucked anymore, or that it was more important. I'd like to see if you, or most of us could hold on to a palm tree with a broken pelvis for 8 hours that's all. You've got your opinions I've got mine dude. At least idon't make fun of people losing their loved ones no matter what their tax bracket is. It sucked for alll 40,000 plus people that perished.
yea, the count just keeps going and going, it reached over 26,000 already. They just keep finding more and more, not counting how many they havent found yet. That is some scary stuff.

check this out.. http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/12/28/quake.celebrities.ap/index.html
This part of Asia is the most populated, nature somehow control it's population. It's not good to say so, but it's true, the biggest catastrophes are there always there, epidemies are started there.
epidemies are started there.
stayed tuned on this one, the post tsunami conditions are ideal for disease
Re: Tsunami hits South East Asia
My heart goes out to all those people affected by this tragedy. The pictures on tv are sickening, to see the death and destruction that the tsunami caused is unbelievable. Just goes to show that we are at the mercy of the earth and the elements.
Re: Tsunami hits South East Asia
On CNN it says its over 80 000 victims now, and its estimated that in many countries about one third of them are children. It also says that in Thailand for every Thai that died, two toursits died. Khun Poom Jensen, the grandson of the King of Thailand also died.
I agree with picklemonkey. thats very comendable that she did what she did, and very sad she lost her bf, and that jet li may have died or is missing. BUT.. if she wasnt a model, would it have been on the news? i bet there are LOTS of amazing stories of survival and tragic loss, but we wont hear about them if they are not famous. I am not taking away from what these people endured, but like "they" always say, they are just people like me and you...
it's somewhat like the Pat Tillman story.. I mean yes, what he did was incredible, and unthinkable for the majority of us.. BUT.. 1000's of others have made similar sacrifices. just because he was an NFL player, doesnt make what he did any different than a man that leaves his family behind to serve his country.
Re: Tsunami hits South East Asia
This is interesting:
"Workers walk on the foundation of the damaged Yala Safari Game Lodge close to Yala Reserve Wildlife Park, 200 kilometers (125 miles) southeast of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. Wild life officials expressed surprise Wednesday that they found no evidence of large-scale animal deaths from the weekend's massive tsunami, indicating that animals may have sensed the wave coming and fled to higher ground. Re: Tsunami hits South East Asia
this is terrible, there are over 25,000 dead in Inonesia, over 15,000 in Sri Lanca, 9,000 in India I would really like to do something for the people who suffered this disaster since Im a part of the medical/rescue team.
325,000 and growing
strange thing ... all elephants made it. they can not find bodies of any large animals. makes you ponder.
this whole bloody situation makes you ponder.. what the fuck is going on? 1st the massive hurricane season on this side of the globe. of course no where the scale of this event. now they are saying this earthquake made the earth spin faster, and tilt more on its axis. its the end of the world as we know it...
now they are saying this earthquake made the earth spin faster, and tilt more on its axis.
I'm calling [bs] on that one.
^^^ nope it is true ... stopped the rotation for about 3 microseconds.
