#328544Post 83 of 114

At least I don't need a visa to get to London... And the flights are quite cheap now. So there is a chance. :D

Hello mate - yeah may well be. I was gonna take these 4 days off work as a complete rest, but tomorrow night looks likely. And I'd love to see Norman Jay......
How 'bout Winconsin! I know Iowa and its no different than Missouri, Illinois, Kansas and Ohio.. fuck you mioght as well drive to Chicago. Wisconsin seems different, but Kenosha is cool and there is usually a nice country club somewhere in the middle of nowhere that will make for a nice size venue. But seriously we should be thinking about a central location eazy for all of us to get to.

BTW Merry Christmas!

Haha...Im in Kenosha right now.. what a shithole... but you could definitly find a cheap venue, have it in some abandoned motor shop...

great idea about this party.. I'll only go if I get a headline dj spot though

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

Sounds class, I'd be up for anything in the UK provided its fairly straightforward to get to. If youre gonna do it at a club, London must surely be the most natural choice as there's so many potential places. If you wanna do it in a tent then there'd need to be ten times as much organisation involved with the music/bar licenses and such like. Its pretty hard to get these though - me and some friends looked at putting on a night in the middle of nowhere down Southampton way but got denied for everything type of license we applied for, and doing it ilegally is too risky in terms of PAs etc getting confiscated!

well the idea IS to get to know the friends you've made on here..... not make it a regular night out looking for the goods.....

Anyway, I support a stateside event, NYC would be awesome. I think they have some empty warehouses that would be available. Money, money, money, it is an issue, as always  :( . I know I am not the only one with kids and not a lot of money because of them. Sounds like a great idea -e-.

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

I go offline for a few days and look what happens...

I'd be up for a European [ms] party - London methinks

Couldn't we charter a plane from the US? Or have one in NYC? Any excuse to cross the Pond.

Licensing in the UK's pretty strict so we'd be best off finding a club/venue with a drinks licence and soundsystem, lighting, etc. An entrance fee would cover the hire and there'd be no messing about with setting up lighting rigs and all that... If the DJs do it for free and it's on a non-profit or for-charity basis we could ensure it wouldn't cost too much to get in. Fuck it, let's hire Fabric on a Thursday!!! :D :D :D

Spread the word on the web, other sites would take an e-flyer in exchange for one on here (just an idea -e-, don't wanna sell-out ), send details to listings magazines and distribute flyers in the months beforehand... There's enough talent and contacts on [ms] to pull this off. :ChatterB:

thats actually a good idea, if it made it cheaper id prolly throw down some cash for that!

id just need a lot of valium to deal with flying across the water...

it is a lot safer flying across water than it is over land.. besides, i have been back and forth plenty, and never one incident. actually my worst flying experience, though a short trip, was back from WMC '03. delays, and awful weather, the bloody plane was almost on its side. you dont need valium, just get nice and twatted before boarding, you'll be fine!

I was flying home from chicago not too long ago and I was freaking out..crying and all. Thought we were gonna die for some reason. When i was younger, I flew back and forth to california all the time without a problem. I can only imagine getting on a plane to europe..id flip out for sure.

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

if we did have this so called "party". Would there be "beer" there? would there "be" strippers "there". And if we did get "talent" or "djs" there, what "would" they "play". Do you think "Chloe" would play there? or would just have to "listen" to "mind-numbing" twats like "me"?

"just" some "questions" that I thought "needed" asking.

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

I've recently been investigating the possibilities of holding a live music event in summer 2005. I work in rural development in hertfordshire (the county directly north of london) which means I have access to a large no of outdoor venues and land.

A place I had lined up is right next to a junction of the M1 (big motorway)and close to St Albans (20 mins train ride from london city centre).

The main problem with holding large scale live music events is the financial risk. Although an [MS] event may be less prone, as many people would pre-book tickets. The other problem is the gaining of an entertainments licence - mainly due to the late night tendencies of dance music events and a district councillor's perception of them. But that could be overcome.

What sort of capacity would you guys envisage? And what of acts would you want to play? S&D style top end of the market, or smaller niche acts? Generally the bigger the better, bringing economies of scale but also greater risk. Its a real balancing act.

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

I def. love the idea of this! The WMC is a good idea because lots of people will already be down there (plus it's an extra incentive for those not planning on going). I'd be up for anything within reason, and it would be cool to try and get some kind of a "headliner" who would be willing to play for beer (not taking anything away from all the MS dj's).

#330360Post 111 of 114

[ms]@WMC 2005 is definately not going to happen. We want to make our own party...not one amongst 1000 others during WMC.

Before any rumors start spreading again.... at this point we don't even know who will play and where the party will happen at all.
