Tom and me were discussing this previously and since I'm over-ratedly excited about this but haven't still heard back from the rest of the mods, thought I'd go ahead and post this in here to get some feedback from the peeps I know for a fact will come out and be a part of this awesome vernture....

Thinking of getting some of the best talent from the forums together for a MASSIVE EVENT next summer in the UK (or anywhere else in Europre) ?

Spin out at this ALL NIGHT EVENT and party it out.... Can be in someone's distant farm house or whatever and have a mad MS get together ........

To make it more interesting, we can even hand out flyers etc. and make it a party.....we can promote it and charge a cover to all NON-MS members and discount a price for members. Get a local bar to cover the liqour (we charge a cut)...

... for all the members.... maybe could we give out a secret code word that will be cross examined at the entrance.... these guys will be let in for free.... around the same time, we get MS T-Shirts etc printed and hand them out at the entrance.

what do you guys think, I'm going NUTS thinking about this.....

Europe is overrated. How about we sell some t-shirts to offset the cost of airfare?

#325088Post 5 of 114

well thats why we have this topic, we mutually decide a venue by vote etc, decide the DJ's, decide on the T-Shirts, decide on everything.... we need to see who will and is excited about this to even have a go at it obviously if there is no response, then its not worth discussing....

#325092Post 6 of 114

i think it is a brilliant idea!

#325098Post 7 of 114

^^ Let's hear more man. Where do you want to venue to take place? Which dj's? ... Tell us more!

#325100Post 8 of 114

I think it's a great idea. I would be curious though as to the dispersion of talent (Europe vs. USA). Why not have a mutual party night; one going on in the states and one going on in Europe and have them simulcast? I'm sure there are some people with the brains to pull that off. It can be like that Guiness event that happens every year where everyone raises their glass at the same time.

#325103Post 9 of 114

^^ Well lets not make the Moonraker here..... lets just start small first and work our way around that one

I'd be up for working out an [ms] event stateside in the future too.. with jibby, sickboy, and of course my partner in crime thrualoooop.

just an idea -e-.. not trying to step on anyones toes.

I honestly could see something like this becoming an annual event.. [ms] gets alot of bloody respect.. it is kind of scary. but awesome too!

#325108Post 11 of 114

^^ that's awesome to hear cause I never get to hear any of it  sure I dont mind a stateside event either..... in fact I'd like to hold one within a week apart of both continents i.e. europe and US......

unome, what recommendations do you have for an event stateside ? would love to hear your comments on state / location / etc

#325111Post 12 of 114

Sounds great!!!! Hopefully it'll be in Europe and around September, we'll be in Ibiza for the Cocoon closing party. :D

#325112Post 13 of 114

there is this place in florida, near orlando, Wallaby Ranch. it is a hang gliding ranch if you will. A mate of mine attended a party there before. It is outside of course, but it has all the amenities of a campground. we had been in contact with them for NYE, but it just would have been too cold. It is an idea, and I know the party that was there before, was all night, they had bon fires and what not. And when we contacted them about new years, they seemed reseptive ot the idea.

#325114Post 14 of 114

^^ sounds interesting..... got any recommendations on indoor locations ?

#325118Post 15 of 114

I can only go by what i know in this area... there is a huge club in Tampa, Masquerades, it holds about 1500 or so heads. I would have to try to contact the mgr.. but I know a few people that have done shows there.. and EDM show, and KRS 1, and it is very reasonable. We might be even able to get around having a bar guarantee.

Other than that, there are a couple other places around, not quite as big, but doable. One is called Czar in ybor.. the GM, Sandra, loves house, and we have been trying to get the tampahousemusic dj's in there, but with the holidays it has been a bit hectic.

i wonder if anyone knows the owners of simons in Gainesville, that would be a great spot.. like Masquerades, it has multiple rooms, so we could have different dj's going on at once.

#325123Post 16 of 114

IMO its defo worth discussing. Gonna take a shit load of planning though. Where ever we decide to have it is going to mean some members are going to have to shell out a lot of dosh to get there. If we have a vote im sure the end result would be that its held over there in the states because there are far more American members than others. That in its self does not bother me because if we decide its going to go ahead then i for one will make sure i save my hard earned to attend the event.

As for some ideas... i`ll get back to you on that one.

#325125Post 17 of 114

with regards to all the top talent on here, im just wondering how many djs/producers are on here?? does anyone know?

This sounds awesome, im down for this but one on each continent would be wise, europe is damn expensive to get to.

#325137Post 18 of 114

^^ well MJ my intentions are STILL to have a do in the UK. I know a shit load of members are from the UK too and I've never been there so yea I'm DOWN for a do in your area....

-e-

#325142Post 19 of 114

So thats settled then, the UK it is. :D

#325146Post 20 of 114

Belgium!

#325149Post 21 of 114

This sounds like a fantastic idea, I've actually thought of this myself a few times. Although depending on when it is, and my financial position at that point, I probably couldn't make it to the UK. But then again, maybe I could. I dunno. Any way, this shit would be dope.
]Belgium!

-Psynce-
Actually, that would be sweet. MMMmmm, Belgium beer

#325150Post 22 of 114

^^ Right on man. It's not that far of the UK and I would be there too.

Belgian beers RULE!

-Psynce-

#325151Post 23 of 114

^^Stellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

#325158Post 24 of 114

Fuck, if it's in the UK I might even drop down from Ghana, that's waaaaay cheaper than the European mainland, or in any case Holland. Fuck, if I can make it, I'll be there!!

It's a brilliant idea IMO, the code is also doable. But as for non [ms] members...maybe you should get a rating on how many to expect before you decide to invite others, it could be crowded already if many decide to come (although I really doubt that). If the UK is a no go, Antwerp will have some nice venues, and Breda had the Mezz, with one of the finest sound systems in Europe...

But we should have Belgian beer and Whiskey!

#325199Post 25 of 114

Yeah, anywhere within walking distance of my house would be fine ^_^

Though I think something like this would be well worth a train ride 8)

#325208Post 26 of 114

The perfect excuse to fly overseas during 2005 summer... great idea

#325213Post 27 of 114

well aside from the UK, I may have the oppurtunity to talk to the part owner of Mandalay Bay in LV. If I can speak with him, I can see if maybe he wants to host something there? i think the only problem would be that we may not have a lot of say in what would go on....but i'll talk to him nonetheless and who knows, maybe he knows of places in the UK....As for the MS talent, how is that going to work? Are we gonna turn in mixes to the mods for them to decide?

#325232Post 28 of 114

"Winter Music Conference"

Re: As we stand on the eve of 2005...

that sounds fuckin great and all. But i dont have the cash for a flight to the UK...if this was in the U.S.A. I would probablyt drive...but yeah....all in all its a great idea. it would be great for all us geeks to get together and party...maybe we should change the event to the country/state where the majority of us members live? :NotMe:
maybe we should change the event to the country/state where the majority of us members live? :NotMe:
I hear Kansas City is right in the middle of the country... would be a perfect place for everybody to drive to. Except me.

#325291Post 34 of 114

realistically, how about an [ms] party @ wmc 2006. thats more than enough time to plan, and so many people already go to that its insane and would go off BIG. for many, like myself, getting over the pond 2 or 3 months after wmc 2005 would be pretty much impossible. not all of us has that much credit. me. :( love the idea kamal. i would certainly be down for some stateside action. really wish you'd consider something for wmc '06 though. there's enough promoters on this board it should not be an issue to negotiate a venue. and no need to mention talent. there's enough for a 4 day party in this community. another issue with the UK party is obtaining a passport. i have not done so yet, but have heard it takes a while to do. not tryin to be a negative, just pointing out valid factors people have to consider. please keep workig on this though. i'm down for the long run. btw, you should collaborate with this unome fella. he seems to have a good head for parties. 8)

long live mercuryserver

#325309Post 35 of 114

^ yeah, but what do we need to promote? I doubt any of the [ms] DJs that would play at the party would be asking for pay. The only reason that there would even need to be an entry fee would be for covering the cost of the venue. Any extra cash made can go straight to -e- or 3dx, as far as I'm concerned.

Especially if it's at the WMC, then there's not much promoting that should occur. Just post around on the net, submit it to the WMC master list, and things are pretty much set?

#325313Post 36 of 114

well i seriously doubt that 1000 people would show up just by word of internet. you would need some serious promotion around the party's town/city. wmc would be prime, because there's already 50,000 people in town for wmc. :) but would obviously still need promotion. there's literally hundreds of parties happening at once down there, so we'd need to entice people to come to ours. its a total possibility with the right people in charge.

#325318Post 37 of 114

I call "not it" on that one. If there's one thing Miami doesn't need, it's a dude from Kansas City trying to plan a party in a city he's never been to

Peoples from Tampahousemusic should do it.

#325324Post 38 of 114

thats what i think too. steve and kamal would make a great team throwing a party.

so get on it boyz.

South America....yeah....

Parties out in the open, nice temperatures and VERY HOT HISPANIC CHICKAS!

I'm in.

#325370Post 40 of 114

It's nice 'day dreaming' about having one big [MS] party, but I'm afraid it's extremely complicated to bring a lot of members together from all over the world. It's not only about planning, but also about money (a lot of member would have to take the plane), agreements, responsibilities ... It isn't easy to meet people from you own country, not speaking of meeting people from other countries (only guys I've met in real life so far are Troggers and Bluelove).

Don't wanna be too negative, just being devil's advocate. It's a great idea anyway, I'm further curious to other reactions.
