so the last time i tried to see dj three in nyc last year, cielo wouldnt let us in unless we ordered a 300 dollar bottle so we didnt go.

went to see dj three at club love yesterday, and so finally around 1AM, the man decides to show up and play for less than 30 minutes (AMAZING 30 MINUTES MIGHT I ADD HOLY F*CK) before he got off the decks and some crappy lady started playing some techno at FULL volume that patrons were literally covering their ears to protect themselves! I THOUGHT I WAS GOING DAEF. FURTHERMORE, she couldnt' beatmatch using a laptop! I mean...how hard is it to beatmatch using a LAPTOP???? how SAD is this??? we waited for dj three for another hour and a half before we could not take it anymore and decided to just leave.

i see him at least once a month, sometimes twice, so I can't help you there, sorry to hear about that experience though, sounds awful :(

Hate to bear this news to you, but you don't know what DJ Three looks like then & missed him. That wasn't DJ Three last night that played for 30 minutes before Cio D'or took over the decks last night. Cio D'or played until around 3:30 and then Three took over. Three played from 3:30ish till later.

lol so now all of the sudden three is cool ???

three is a djs "dj" and has been around for a long ass time .

I caught him many times but the one night that i still remember the most is this amazing gig in Nyc at twilo when he was resident as one of my most memorable edm experiences .

he does seem to keep somewhat of a low profile...

If that's the way the headliners go on in NYC, I'm not going to find myself going out to see these people when I get there. I'm used to DJ's going on at night, and Not early morning.

Btw Seen Three , three times over a few days, I thought he was pretty brilliant at times, not quite so, others. Plays more for himself than for the punters was my overall opinion.

That's the impression I get when I've listened to him. His 1998 set from Simon's is brilliant. He really was doing something different to everyone else at the time.

Some friends of mine did the same thing back in 1997. They went to see Scot Bond at a local night, when I asked them what the gig was like they told me Scot Bond hadn't turned up. Instead some fat ugly bloke played instead. When I asked them if they knew what Scott Bond looked like they said they thought he was some skinny good looking bloke.:roll:

I had one of those moments early on. :lol: There was a photo of Dave Seaman from the UK enjoying the beautiful Melbourne weather in the newspaper. Young guy with heaps of dark hair. At the gig that night I asked who the bald guy djing was :lol: I still think some random backpacker was having a laugh at everyone's expense :lol:

^ That reminds me of when I saw Dave Seaman at Creamfields in 1999. The order was running late so loads of people thought Dave Seaman was playing when it was actually Hernan Cattaneo

Seems like everytime Sasha is in the states Three is his opener, so not sure why it would be so hard to catch him, especially in NYC, think he is more of a FLA resident, not sure, alwaays sets the table properly, like JVM, Chloe, and Kazell.

Based on what he plays and the way he plays it. Whenever I here him play he doesn't strike me as someone who is following a trend or playing to a crowd. He always strikes me as a DJ who go's his own way, follows his own path and is less bothered if people like it or not.

I saw an interview with Woody Allen where he stated that he never read reviews to his films and wasn't bothered with what other people thought of what other people thought. He did what he wanted to do and that was it. I always get the same impression with Three. Maybe I'm wrong but its certainly the perception I get when I listen to his sets.

Btw, last time I saw Three he played after Sasha in Brooklyn last November. That's twice recently that Three finished the night in NYC recently after the headliner.

never seen that happen en masse, and he's always been on the forefront of music, never followed the masses, this is meant to be a good thing for a dj.. right? or should they all play the same shit that everyone wants to hear all the time, or play whatever genre is the flavour of the month you know, like a top 40/mash up/house/hip hop dj.. errr juke box

he is, if anything he may be at fault for trying to hard and thinking too much about his sets.. but again, is that such a bad thing?

I don't think I've seen a dj where I was on the floor the WHOLE time, that's nothing to do with what they were playing at the time, sometimes I just don't want to be on the dancefloor, lol

i saw Three once at the Sullivan Room on a random trip to NY a few years back. the place was kinda emtpy and he was really acidy for a while. it was a pretty good night now that i think abou it..........
