Any good clubs in your city that play good music and draw a good crowd? Most places where I live in Houston play rap which does draw some nice looking women, but sick of hearing Eminem and Ludacris.

One club here, 2401, was bringing good djs in that brought some good crowds.

Re: Club scene in your city -- any good?

well, mate ...

I live right in the fucking centre of ' Antwerp ' , belgium's best kept secret. Over 385 of the world's best beers are brewed right here! Chocolate, Diamonds and Style is what Antwerp's all about..

We have a massive ungerground clubscene, Caf? d'Anvers comes to mind where the cream of the crop of dj land has been to raise hell during weekends... it's right in the middle of the red light district.; always good for laughs when ur drunk :p

And Caf? Capital whom are building a serious reputation too...

World's best Bars Are giving quite a review on Antwerp...

What they forget to mention is that all bars are almost within walking distance from the centre, everything is open till the crack of dawn! They'll serve liquor till 8 in the morning..

Au contraire to the UK i've visited recently, where the pubs close at eleven!!

i say Antwerp's not that bad after al .. ;)

nyc scene = return of the mega club  velvet ropes, bad attitudes, and moronic patrons are pretty much the lay of the land right now. only the double-secret mini venues are worth the trouble anymore.

#323605Post 8 of 61

Re: Club scene in your city -- any good?

this scene in my home town is terrible, but if my crazy plans come together, within a month or two it will be sorted

#323613Post 9 of 61

what club scene? :P

there's no clubs in my town.

somtimes i got to party in a city near here with some dj friends and the same people, that's cool, but private parties.. not much clubbing scene :(

Definitely have to agree with this take.... the only worthwhile places are NA, Cielo, Sully Room, Canal Room... and some of the smaller bars that host local DJs and the like (Leopard Lounge/Sin Sin, Mark Cafe, Le Souk, Nascimiento)...

here in lima peru is the summer season all the clubs move to the beach and you can find everything that you want

#323623Post 12 of 61

hey champi.. bienvenido :)

you have good nights in Lima. Most djs play there before coming to argentina :)

#323638Post 13 of 61

well dallas is suriviving.. it sure inst quite as viberant as it used to be, but i guess you gotta take it how it comes.. we have many clubs that have music playing every nite of the week with headlines everyweek plus pretty good locals.. there is no shortage of spots, but they are all mostly a lot smaller & low key than what they used to be.. not many elaberate sounds systems, lights, etc as other cities.

it seems that the promoters & partygoers alike have learned to look at the brighter side of things & appreciate the talent & dedidaction we have to keep things going.. cause to be frank, we see examples of this in houston & austin who at one time both used to be the kings of music in texas & now barely have much going on..

#323643Post 14 of 61

Can't say that the scene is good in here in Windsor, actually...it's shite. Blast was the only place left w/ hope but they're closing their doors right after NYE. I have to commute to Chi-Town, T.O. or the good ol' D for some decent night life.

Have to give props to Montreal, Chi-Town, and Sydney, Australia for some of my most pleasurable nightlife experiences.

Cyke: Seems to be a lot of people from Belgium on this board, and coming from Breda I don't see a problem in coming to Belgium. It's deffo time for a meeting, and clubbing night...Psynce and Gloomy are Belgian as well....

Re: Club scene in your city -- any good?

eeehh, avoid the big clubs and its great... well the big clubs aren't that bad if you go for a good dj, its just the crowd from 1-3 bites...

And Troggers too, don't know if he visits regulary still ...If you're up for a clubbing night, i'm playing tomorrow in Dixies, Brasschaat and on the 8th of januari at La Rocca in Lier. Troggers will attend that last one, maybe you too ? :)

In columbus ohio, we have one good night for prog house fans, it happens at a upscale place called the Carslile Club. I think the only real reason there is prog there is because the owners don't really care what music is played just as long as there are a bunch of people in there drinking. Plus there is a sweet downstairs that plays all the usual stuff, but that dj also throws in some house with the regular top 40 stuff too. all in all i'd say it's the best club night that Columbus has.

Can't wait to get to NYC, i'm tired of the clubs only staying open till 2:30Am around here. Plus i'd finally get to see the bigger dj's that never come around here.

#323722Post 23 of 61

Well...cant tell that much here too xcept resident djs who are spinning some good deep house sometimes ... but all I can say is that I used to study in LA for almost 4 years and man , I had a fun BLAST :Naughty: over there ... seen Digweed, Tiesto, Sasha, AVB, Sander K, Kazell, missed Deep Dish and so on... damn wut am I doing here?! :| :?

#323748Post 24 of 61

Re: Club scene in your city -- any good?

I'm from new york and the scene here is pretty housy, been to a bunch of deep dish parties and mauro picotto. I've missed Sander K but still trying to catch him, there are a lot of different parties going on all the time, so i try out and go see different parties all the time.
The cops are starting to come down hard though and closing down a couple of places, it blows

#324012Post 28 of 61

I'm always in for a meeting here in belgium, Yao. I urgently need a good clubbing night again as it's too long ago

#324109Post 31 of 61

Clearwater pretty much sucks, except Thursday nights - club down the street has decent stuff & UNOME is spinnin there the 23rd..... Club will see Lots Of Heads!!

#324117Post 32 of 61

All the clubs suck in Toledo. THere has never been a good dj to come around here. IF I want to go see someone good I have to either go to cleveland or detroit.

#324171Post 33 of 61

Toronto is really thriving right now. Actually there's massive competition between great venues right now.

The Guvernment, System Soundbar and Roxy Blu are mainstays in the market. Boa-Redux and The Docks have intalled great sound and are putting on fantastic events. Lucid, Arc and Republik (which opens this week) are new venues that attempting to break into underground scene. There's Film Lounge and the ever-poplular Comfort Zone that house the hardcore and tons of small lounge-type bars/clubs that host parties for the numerous small, energetic production companies that continually put together wicked little soirees.

Overall, Toronto is a hot bed for underground music. All the big and small names in the industry make their way through. We're very spoiled here... maybe that's why we keep getting the FUCK CANADA threads.

#324176Post 34 of 61

My town is full of beer heads who think a good night out is to sink as many beers as you can in the shortest amount of time, throw up a pavement pizza somewhere, piss in the streets and have a fight with someone theyve never met. We dont deserve a decent club here at all. Aint that right Ian?

#324177Post 35 of 61

Nope, Denver has some good clubs, but they all close at 2 am. Any night life that ends at 2 am is no night life I want. I prefer to stay home, get stoned, make my own music or listen to digweed, or hernan. My clubbing days are pretty much done so I don't care that much.

#324212Post 36 of 61

Boston is know for Avalon, and it is good there if you like the flashy lights and the big DJ's, but we also have some smaller places like Vertigo and Rise. Most of the locals like Micali, Eli Wilkie, Steve Porter, Peter Ellis etc play at Vertigo where Tyler Stadius and Steve Gerrard pand others play at Rise. Rise is cool because that is the only afterhours club in Boston. the 2am law blows in Boston, as well as living 30 minutes outside of the city.

#324216Post 37 of 61

I echo what Mixwell says...

I hate Avalon lately. I went there every Friday night 2 yrs ago and had wonderful times every single time, now i go once every few months or so and bitch all night how it sucks.

I love Rise cuz it closes @ 7am usually, though i go home way earlier than that. Vertigo is awesome, just cuz its the locals and the 'usual' crowd. I used to really enjoy Orange@ The Kells but that stopped.

Boston is iffy but over all good. There is stuff out there, you just gotta look to find it :)

#324229Post 38 of 61

tis a pity...I know TO is thriving and would love to go back and party there..(only been guv and the zone)...but i guess i'm more of the type to have an intimate atmosphere rather than g-heads being retardedand that gang of asians lined up against the back wall...I live in daytona beach which has no good clubscene....i've taken the initiative to work at the campus radio station because we go lo-fi and can broadcast 5-10 mi radius, which is good because now i can have my time slot at the same time the local nightclub goes live on 103.3 which gives me the oppurtunity to compete with them by providing better aural pleasure...

as for orlando, as ska or danton, those guysknow more than i do about it...if all goes well i think there'll be a cycle of us spinning downtown....

Why don`t you head over to mercurypromote and give us some insight into how you make your music. See my sig.

Shit, I was too late reading this one!

I should now way beforehand anyway, b'cos I'm pretty busy of late, so I can make some space to freak out. Enniehoe, I'd like to go sometime, it's time to do a long night with good music again...I'm getting twitches in my left eye again...:WinkNSmi:
