James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
Wonder whether it will have a far eastern sound ... or whether it's already done, but will then be "inspired" by the far east because he plays a night over there ?
Maybe AndyH will be able to tell us !
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
James Lavelle gets a proper GU Nic Fanculli gets a spin off.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
wicked can't wait for this POS
:roflmao:
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I quite liked his mix with Psychopab - 25 Tracks From The 1990 to 1995 (I.D Edit Exhibition)- that never got released.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
lol james lavelle
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
at least its different...didn't really like any of his past GU's but at least its not Warren lol
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
fuck i was hoping he was dead
can't stand YA
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I guess I'm the only one whose happy to hear this.
I have heard some quality stuff by Mr. Lavelle. Unfortunately he's also put out some shite.. but I'm up for something fresh and exciting maybe even experimental in sound and he's always willing to push the creative boundaries...which means we could be in for a real treat (or not)
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
His first GU was decent, the 2nd one garbage. Really surprised by this though - there must be more DJ's out there that they can market?
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
Hi first GU was one of my fav GU's... his second... kinda hurt...
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I liked both his GU's His essential mix last year was shite though.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
He's talented enough to put something amazing together, we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

definitely he could.
some of his earlier Radio 1 mixes were really good... spun some really interesting stuff. he just really falls in a club atmosphere.
UNKLE is just amazing though.

Amen. Not another bland as fuck warren one.
Lavelle's barca comp was good, but romania was shit. Be interesting to hear his follow up now.
Of course it's going to have sasha's new remix of the doves on it;)
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
wonder how he's still in the music biz...
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
meh.
i never would've thought that i'd see dj shadow and james lavelle in the same group. dj shadow ftw.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I agree. The Barca GU one was excellent.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I've liked most of the stuff he's put out - including both the previous GU's he put out. He demands a bit more from his listener (including some patience), but he's got some interesting ideas.
I'll be interested in hearing what he pulls off with this.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
GU today is a lot different than it was in 2K. They are simply trying to bring more flavors to the table.
Luckily today there are lots of compilations to choose from. So if you don't like what they are doing. You don't have to buy. But I'll still check it out. I always find something about all the GU's out there that I like. I didn't think I would like the Sharam Discs but ended up playing the first disc in my car for around a month.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
well lavelle can bangkok this mix/cd whatever it is more than BANG his cock
more like this is gonna suck cock
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
really not a fan!
his unkle stuff rocks, but as a dj he's meh!
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I thought his Barca one was OK, but the other one (Romania?) was horrid.
But I'd rather have another oneof his than another Darren Emerson!

My thoughts exactly
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I'm gonna dig out both of his GU's and give it another whirl. Its been forever.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
ok, i'm sorry to say this so bluntly...but those mentioning james lavelle and nick warren in the same sentence need to get their heads checked here. seriously. warren is talent. lavelle is the antithesis of talent, behind the decks (but a great producer). he should stick to being behind a computer monitor and leave the 1's and 2's to someone else...
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok

Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
Absolute joke that he has so many of his own productions on there as usual. Not only does he get paid for the album, but royalties on top of that! Does he even bother seeking out that much new music do you think?
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
All in all that looks pretty interesting. CD1 sure has an emotional ending. I Love School Of Seven Bells.

Count Hernan's productions on his new Master Series please.
electronic sonic soundscape that is his most eclectic yet. :
you gotta be into ecletic to appreciate lavelle's work imo he's one of the best at shaking things up a bit giving the listener something unexpected which is increasingly rare and not exactly sought after much either imo.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
I wonder how much was of it was influenced by the Bangkok music seine, being as that is GU's concept now.
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
James Lavelle gets a proper GU Nic Fanculli gets a spin off.
didn't care for the Nic CD at all. He was amazing live though. As far as Lavelle, I've seem him be amazing some nights, and not even beat match others.... Lavelle has got some amazing clothes!!!!!
Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
FECK!!!!!
THE dreaded double post strikes again.

Re: James Lavelle - Global Underground 37 Bangkok
Apparently I'm the only one who likes Romania (esp disc 1) better than Barcelona and is looking forward to this release!
Yes Lavelle is inconsistent but like Sasha, when he gets it right he is awesome.
Tracklisting looks interesting... Well up for this. 8)

Totally agree mate, I'm not just dissing Lavelle here. Seems most mix comps these days have 'dj's own interpretation's' and 'unreleased mix' tracks on them. What happened to just finding 25 good tunes and whacking them together?
