Who’s addicted to golf?

Is anyone else as fired up as I am about playing golf... Wednesday they say we will be in the 60's, Saturday 68 degrees here in PA. I have a tee time 10am on Saturday...

I can't seem to get enough golf in... or ever get it off my mind.

I think I need help... I am addicted...

Just revamped my entire set over the winter. New Driver, New Irons and even a new 3 wood. I had ping i3 blades for 10 years and I just purchased a new set of ping i10's... They are so damn nice... Technology is sick in new equipment...

Anyway... Stuck at work... Thinking about golf... How much more time until Saturday???

:p

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

Just a few weeks ago the vp of our company came in town and took us out for a golf outing...my first time in 4 years. it wasn't pretty. i used to be on the golf team in high school and played through college and was pretty decent, but after college i just gave it up. i made a complete disaster of the first 4 holes, but got my game back and made bogey on the last 5. not a bad finish for a 4 year absence. i'm stoked to play again. definitely getting in some range time before going back out.

After trade in of my old stuff... iron set was $600... He gave me a Tour W Wedge ($110) and I purchased my 3 wood for $300... My new driver was a bunch of Christmas Gift Cards that added up... $12 after the use of the cards... $912 all in...

I hear you! Nothing like catching the groove again... I hate the 8's but the birdies are what keep me coming back. I took it too serious about 8 years ago and stopped having fun. Now when I play I am happy with low to mid 80's and I am happy with high 90's (90's mean I drank too much beer on the front nine )

Only four more days...

Golf rules. Just being out there is great therapy for me. I suck at it, but love being out there.

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

i used to be a club thrower in high school/college. because obviously it's the club's fault right? big dumb kid.

im a few beers and a nice round of golf guy tho these days. it's kinda nice getting older in that respect..its just golf. loved watching the masters this year. my grandma used to watch golf and she didn't have a clue how to play it, she just thought it was peaceful and the scenery was beautiful...and that's kinda where i'm at playing it these days, and it feels like i'm going to be better than ever.

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

Considering Davis Love III is my cousin, it seems I would have been a little more involved in golf. Never really tried to play though, I was too involved in other sports that broke bones and busted up my shins while growing up. Now that I'm old, fat, and like plaid pants, maybe I should give it a go :)

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

^that is pretty cool!! you really don't have a good excuse to not kick ass.

I'd like to get back into it too, I think the recessionary cycle we are in sort of highlights activities like golf :D

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

i am. been golfing my whole life. my close freinds and i have this tradition that we started back in high school where we would drink a beer a hole and just have a good ol time. it would be fun to do that with a few fellow [ms]'ers someday for sure.

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

I love playing, but I don't get out near as much as I used to. Just got a new set of sticks towards the end of last season (Callaways), though, so hoping to get out more this year. I do think it is interesting that one thing that I really didn't like about it when I was younger -- the fact that it takes a few hours to play a round -- is something that I really dig about it now. It's nice to have an extended time to relax and not have to think about anything else.

Played my first round with a caddy this past October, and just loved it. Felt very much more in touch with the course walking it like that, rather than just driving from shot to shot.

Me too... I love a good 4.5 to 5 hour round when it is busy. Most people freak out, I enjoy the time...

Caddys are great... I played Baltrusol in NJ a few times... Sick course, the best part was the Caddy. With in a few holes he was pulling out what irons I should hit before I was even asking the distance. He was right on. Nice guy too, tons of good stories about all the people he caddy for.

#1200225Post 25 of 71

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

i prefer a steady pace of play and not busy. i tend to get frustrated when i'm waiting for the people in front of me. not that i rush, but a good steady pace with four people still takes a good 3.5 hours.

my friend volunteers for the sugarloaf tournament, the fedex cup finale, here in atlanta and the course just offered him and his friends a round for $50 a piece! so i get to play on the final pga tour course of the season where someone wins $10 million!! that course looks hard as hell too. that will be a lot of fun!

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

i dont get to play as much as i used to. about 2-3 years ago i was playing at least twice a week, now i cant seem to find the time. really enjoy playing tho. most defo will be playing more this year as i no longer have the trouble and strife nipping at my heels.

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

Great thread, the weather here is perfect and with not a whole lot to do in Winter Park, Florida, I decided to pick up a new bag, set of taylor made OS II irons, ping karsten series 4i putter, taylor made rescue mid 2 hybrid and taylor made R5 driver, all graphite shafts.

got a good deal on the set had been used a few times, but literally look and feel brand new. will buy a brand new set once I get my game back.

Started with 3 pars... Birdie, Birdie, Par, Birdie, then the hot cart girl again... Damn her and her icy cold beers... Ended up hitting a 37 on the back... But It could have be under par if it wasn't for her. and yet you are still a puss to play me

With a 6 month old at home, well lets just say I havent played in 6 months.

before moving to GA from FL, I was shooting in the mid to high 70s. today, not so much. One thing is for sure though, nothing beats being out on the course drinking adult beverages while smoking a good cigar.

Re: Who’s addicted to golf?

love golf... got a set of cobra gravity back's lightly used off of craigslist for about $150.00 3 years ago.. pretty good set too. not really hardcore or good enough to spring 1000$ on a set yet. i have only been playing for about a year but hardly get out to play now that i work full time... i have to make some time.

thinking i will go out to the range this weekend to see where my game is at.
