Got tickets to a THIRD show just today!

Two are indoor arena-gigs in june, the third a festival line up.

I bet that this will be a popular topic here!

Re: Metallica

I love metallica!!!!!!!!!!! In the st.anger´s tour they where coming to play here, the show was sold out, and 20 days before the day of the show, they canceled the tour. shit!

#1166035Post 3 of 45

Re: Metallica

Yeah, they still get a lot of shit for that.

And the good thing is they're not playing anything off St Anger on this tour.

Oh yeah? I will have to find out if and when they are coming to my area...
Metallica turned shit right around the black album.
I will agree that their music went downhill over the years (although I wouldn't agree it started with the black album as it was one of my favourites), but I hear they put on a good show when they play live.

Re: Metallica

I saw them twice in the Justice For All Tour ... excellent live, plenty of energy. They play Manchester Feb 26th ... so I may grab some tickets off e-bay.

Re: Metallica

Was surprize how much old stuff they played on the European tour a year or two ago, hopefully, the band busts out some of the older material.

Re: Metallica
Metallica turned shit right around the black album.
exactly!...they have sucked since that album.

#1166187Post 14 of 45

Re: Metallica

The new album should work well for all you who miss the old stuff.

The only album I've had problems with is St Anger. I think the only time they've been off was also touring that album...

#1166209Post 15 of 45

Re: Metallica

i havent seen them since back in the early 90's so i would go to check them out again....

for some reason they only played a few dates in the US b4 heading over seas....i hope that means they are going to play more dates in the states in the future....

Re: Metallica

Saw them in 91 at Legend Valley in Ohio. Was amazing. They had Metal Church opening for them. What a great night. Was there with a bunch of people from school and we all hung out that night. One of my favorite concerts.

Lately haven't been interested in them. Even with this new album and people supposedly saying that it's like a return to the Justice days...they can't do anything anywhere near that album again. James just doesn't have a metal voice anymore.

#1166247Post 17 of 45

Re: Metallica

the new album is really good. his voice sounds compressed or something on the new album, but regardless the programming of all of the music doesn't bore you. i think they'd be great live at the moment.

Caught their show here in San Diego last December. Lots of fun.

I have seen them numerous times over the years.

Cliff was the heart and soul of that band. They have NEVER been the same after he passed away.

#1166392Post 21 of 45

Re: Metallica

he really added the "compositional" element to the band, and when he died, luckily they had a few of his songs on demo so they could do Justice. That band would be ten times better today if he had lived...AND stayed with the band.

Re: Metallica

One of the best concerts I have ever worked! I have a crew shirt from the St.Anger tour. I was on their stage before the show. I really hope they come back to Ontario.

Re: Metallica

Lars said that they're playing Madison Square Garden in November on their last gig of this part of the US/Canada-tour in Newark so that should give you some idea when they're back in the NA.

Re: Metallica

Re: Metallica

totally agree with everyone stating that it went down hill after the black album. my thought was that they tried to ride the grunge train during the concept of the st. anger album which in turn cost them a lot of fans. stick with what works and never try to change your image based off what is selling at the moment, will cost you more in the long run although they aren't hurting by any means. lars views on downloading music is still laughable to me. don't get me wrong, i'm a firm beleiver in being paid for what you do, but did he really think that he could stop people from downloading music for free?

#1188555Post 32 of 45

Re: Metallica

Been a fan since I was 11 and have seen them twice. Lost interest in their new albums during the 90s, but Death Magnetic is the best thing they have done since Justice. No, it's not as good, nothing can touch those early albums, but it's pretty damn close.

#1188560Post 33 of 45

Re: Metallica

They just played SXSW and it was mostly old material, so who knows, to me it is just like every other band I saw back in the day who decides to make a return with the exception of a few, they just fall short.

Re: Metallica

is the new AIC singer any good? heard news about AIC reforming with the new singer but haven't heard any new materials from them yet

#1189038Post 38 of 45

Re: Metallica

yeah there is a band that should have completely shut down after the death of their singer. Same as Queen. They will never be nowhere near as good.
