I had a great night!!!

The crowd was much better than the sasha night & seemed to be a lot of regular bedrock faces out which was nice to see.

Matter has a few neagatives for me in that its a bit light, even though it was darker than the sasha night. Its still no quite there for me. Also the lack of a low ceiling means that the club loses a lot of intensity among the crowd except for the really big moments like 'heaven scent'.

That said the sound, the large main room balcony work really well & it never feels cramped even when its full. So I guess you cant have it both ways!! I do like it as venue but they really do need to have more cabs available at the end of the night & also the security were a bit over the top at the way they tried to clear people out of the main room at the end.

Musically I thought it was spot on. I liked the more chilled beginning with the volume down & the way that built up the intensity. There were some great tracks played that have already been spotted but I think we had more to come before the night was cut abruptly short as Im sure John planned on playing for 10 hours!!!

I'll be going back to matter for the big nights but I still think Fabric is a better place to experience John. Roll on Dec 20th but I'll make a road trip to Krystal before then!!

A good night but there have been better digweed sets Ive heard

Oh & the Avalon NYE set - will never see the light of day as the recorder didnt work that night

On the same note, how often is it that you hear a track in a club and it makes all the difference in the world? I get it all the time! I mean you have track X, you hear it somewhere and you think "ok, so and so". And then you hear it in the John Digweed context, properly mixed and programmed and it's like a totally different experience!

yes, definitely man. that crowd we ended up leaving with...good god! they made us look like upstanding citizens! however, i can only imagine what the people on the tube thought of us. 3 bloody lines we had to take to get around all the 'engineering works' going on that morning. seemed to take an eternity.

will do my absolute best to be making an annual trip out for a bedrock event, so worth it.

We got caught out later in the day and ended up grid-locked ... took a £25 cab ride to bail us out of missed trains !
