I'd say loss of credibility is a serious concern...

I take issue with ATB more than anything else

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004

This is nothing more than a popularity contest and has very little to do with skill or talent. Of course Tiesto won it.

#288672Post 28 of 105

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004

Dont underrate Tiesto! I think he's an excellent DJ regardless of whether you're not into trance or not...give the devil his due.

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004
who is #33 ? Yoji Biomehanika ??
He's a Japanese guy who spins UK Style Hardhouse...

Here's a Bio:

Biography Yoji Biomehanika, can only be described as the Japanese Lord of NRG or Nu-NRG Master, and Japan's No 1. NRG DJ overseas. He is also without a doubt the most flamboyant showman in Nu-NRG scene. While his music style is categorized into Hard Dance, Hard Trance or Nu-NRG, his style is full of originality, while retaining pumpin' grooves and melodic sounds, which gives us something special guiding us to the future. As everyone who has ever experienced one of his DJ sets can relate to his energetic and uplifting sounds, changing any party venue into a fantastic dance atmosphere. He is a DJ who has enormous creativity as a producer always having new ideas. Undeniably a maestro in the studio.

Yoji Biomehanika carries the UDG SoftBag.

Not that I've actually heard him or anything... :KillYou:

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004

I'm not sure if it's fair to say that trance rules the day in this (albeit ridiculous) survey.

consider:

Top 20 genre scoring: Trance = 8 (Tiesto, Paul, Armin, Ferry, CL, Oakey, ATB, Marco V) Progressive = 7 (Sasha, Hernan, Diggers, Deep Dish, Sander, JZ, Howells) Hard Dance = 2 (Jules, Tall Paul) House = 2 (Roger, Benassi) Techno = 1 (Coxy)

Plus if you were to consider who grosses more $$ per year (i.e. market value) I would suspect the prog team to come out on top by far

#288727Post 34 of 105

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004

At least people have to admit that somebody out there is appreciating the trance genre. Just because most of us here are prog fans, I dont see why we have to bash the biggest (by votes) DJ of all!!! LOL

Good to see Markus Schulz in the top 50, he deserves it. His sets of late and track selection have been sensational.

#288741Post 38 of 105

Re: DJ Mag top 100 2004

the most surprising thing IMO, in a good way, about this poll is that Hernan is #6. Good for him.

and Sander was pretty high too, #11

i am surprised JZ did not make it higher, but oh well yes it is a popularity contest but it's fun , especially reading all the reactions from people

and i think there must have been a huge USA vote this year because a few USA dj's are up there pretty high, considering that they are not as well known globally as some of the other's
