2 things to consider here....
number 1 : who's going to buy it ? no offence shiva but if i want to see your face i'll come here and look @ some of ur pictures, personally i dont want to see it much, truth is i dont really want to have pictures of u hanging from my wall even if ur half naked.
number 2 : if u do sell copies of it outside the ms world then ur obviously going to sell it on the merit of " she's a bit fit " which then will lead to this place being swarmed with idiots who only really want to know on a daily basis what colour of knickers she has on...it will ruin the board.

[ms] member just might, for starters, proghouse and shiva fans outside of [ms] as well -as long as the DJ-ing aspect of the whole thing remains emphasized in one way or another. Let's face it, she's a model so her looks are the cash, this goes for the calendar as well (shit, we wouldn't even consider making a calender with a pigfaced DJ on it, would we?).
Look at it more in the sense of Shiva being the ambassador to [ms]. as long as the photo's are ( at least partly) dj-ing related, and the nature of the project is proghouse dj-ing combined with modelling, I don't see the problem. We all know all those bare-titties 'lady dj's' spinning crap, but this time it's an all honest good-looking woman whose profession is not only modelling, but also happens to have a strong connection to the progressive house scene. If anything, I'd consider this a much more integer approach to house music & female beauty than we usually encounter.
it's not going to be another edition of Hustler or something, so I'm not that afraid of this board turning into a sex-crazed madhouse.

Personally, I have no strong opinion on it either way. But if you guys do it, just be honest and admit that it really has to do with sexual appeal and catering to sexual desires, and nothing to do with music or DJing. Some people around here obviously really need to get laid. :lol:

lori i didnt mean it like that but if a guy buys a calender like that then its usually only for one reason, so he can hang it up on the garage wall in the mechanics shop so him and his workmates can discuss miss january's plump breasts, thats just the way it is, sure u'll get that extra 10 minutes of exposure u so crave.

No offense to Shiva as she is a lovely, attractive lady, but having a calendar of all her, is not something that is beneficial to the MS community....it should involve all those who have impact on the community if we really need to do a calendar...all though I think the overall idea is kinda silly

I was not going to get into this thread but just want to note a couple of things.

If you look at what Shiva wears when she dj's you can see its hardly what you would call "Portia BareBoobs" (or whatever she's called) material. Shiva's almost always dressed in very conservative attire...a long sleeve sweatshirt (usually Sudam) and long pants...now red1 would you call that using her sex appeal to attract a crowd?? Hardly so. And hell, you'll have to forgive her for wearing something a little more comfortable when she's spinning during the day on the beach...it must only be 293930 degrees out there!

What do you mean people with "looks" are pushing out people with "talent"?!?! You must be KIDDING if you really think looks would supersede a DJ's skill??? I mean half the time you can barely see into the DJ booth so what do looks matter? Even if a DJ is good looking, if they suck, they will go down. I'll just give you a small example...my ex-gf initially really got into Sasha because he was good-looking...and she liked his music. But then when he started to suck (and that happened shortly after she got into the scene), she quickly lost interest in him - guess why, not because he got any less attractive, but because his music started to suck. So IMO saying a DJ is successful soley based on looks is completely off the mark.

I don't know, I thought it was clear to most of the board by now that I NEVER use my appearance for the sake of djing, on the contrary, I try to hide as much as I can and show as little skin as I can when at the booth or when promoting my music. Maybe I should consider wearing some foulard and hide my face as well when I play... :lol:
The word "sexy" could have many degrees of interpretation, for me sexy DOES NOT equal nudity nor vulgarity. Pix can VERY sexy yet very discreet; my modeling pix are what I consider smooth, discreet and sexy at the same time.
The idea of an ms calendar I am thinking of, is not something like Playboy or Pirelli calendars, something to be destined to garages or mechanics etc... But rather something musical & djing coming from a female member of ms FOR ms.
Yes, an all Shiva calendar might seem a bit too much to some, especially for the members of the same sex, which is understandable. So thats why maybe we should be looking into an idea of a more "general" calendar.
I like this ms calendar idea, and as long as it benefits ms I am ready to do it no matter what the content/material would be decided upon: shiva or ms members, or mcast djs, or mcast shows....as long as its a constructive idea its all good for me :D
[edited] As for Kamal & Tom, yes this is their baby and I am sure they are reading this thread coz they never miss anything (or almost). But this calendar is still an idea, a debate. Lets see what we can come up with and how much we can make this idea mature, and when the idea becomes ready to be made concrete as a real project, then we will see what they think about it. For now we are only at the stage of general talk...

Shiva, I understand that you're not trying to advocate posing in some super-erotic manner for such a calendar. And you're a good dj, I don't take anything away from you in that regard. And heck, I'm not even that opposed to the calendar idea - if enough people want to go for it, then I'm not going to cause problems...it's not like the fate of [ms] hangs in the balance.
But let's be clear on things. The only way this calendar thing would be feasible, especially if you throw money into the picture, is for you to be the primary focus of it. Trust me, no one gives two shits about seeing the other MCast DJs in a calendar. You have made it known before that you want to be respected as a musician and a DJ strictly for your abilities, and not for being a sexy, young woman. But if the calendar was focused on you, then wouldn't it basically just be a proposal to use your sex appeal to sell more people on checking out your music and [ms]? Come on, you weren't born yesterday; you must have your fair share of experience with the workings of a young male mind when it comes to your looks. I have to think it's obvious to you that a major reason why many people on this predominantly male forum are fawning all over you like puppy dogs is not just because you're a good dj, but because it's well documented that you're an attractive young woman. And the true reason guys would buy this calendar is to get as good of a gander as possible at your looks and your body, regardless of what you wear. That's the really the only reason this thread even [I]exists[/I].

^ i agree with some of the things you say, not everything:
The calendar idea is in its nature a marketing tool that might serve ms and probably whoever is in it. Of course we are not thinking fo making a calendar just for the sake of it, but instead a marketing strategy that would differentiate ms from other forums, give it a plus. Of course ms can survive without this calendar, not need to be sarcastic about it. But sometimes you get the be the leader in something by introducing new ideas, new things, be the first: and that is one of the reasons why there are leaders & there followers in this world. I might be at the center of all that simply coz I might represent a "PACKAGE" (of quality) that happens to be rare to find, AND IT SELLS (if you consider shiva as a "product", you can meke sure that it SELLS. My main interest is not to be the center of all that (thank God I have experienced this priviledge many times already), but instead to market ms, mcast and all thats in it by possibly involving whoever would like to be involved: I see it as a "group" thing and not "individual" thing.
I am perfectly aware that I am in a predominantly male forum BUT the "puppy" thing you refer to bothers me a bit coz its not true:
First, MS members who appreciate me, like my looks and even comment or make jokes about it are NOT PUPPIES, they are ms members who feel like having some good time on ms.
Second, I assure you that MOST of them CLEARLY appreciate me MORE FOR MY MUSIC rather then for my looks, and I AM SO SURE of myself when I state this coz it is based on FACT: [B]NUMBERS[/B]! (Some numbers, which are hidden and stay hidden, do the talking for me...;) )
Third and last, if you consider this thread as "bullshit", then what are you doing posting in this forum?! 99% of ALL THREADS IN ALL FORUMS ARE BULLSHIT, so again it is a question of having good time.

I am sure I can speak for chanty, Didi, and some of the other girls on here, that because we are of the same gender, has nothing to do with why we don't think this is a good idea. We are aware that you are a model, and a very attractive one at that, and there is nothing wrong with that....hey, if you got it, flaunt it :)
We were more opposed, at least for myself, because a calendar of just "Shiva" doesn't represent the whole community. There are a number of very talented DJ's on this board, that would deserve just as much recognition.
