Re: Chicks Can't Mix
[quote=Shiva;629710]^ I was expecting the Nikky one... Ahhhh.
Ok then, lets turn this thread around:
There are some djanes that do it their way, and there are others that do it in another: musically!
So, here is a live mix @ Pasha Club [Romania] - Jan 2008 (the only live gig available at the moment). But before I continue let me put you in the picture of why don't consider this mix a top of my performance. The simple reason is that I am a Pioneer djane, I use only Pioneer (all series) coz its the only brand I feel as an extention of me when I play: special effects, tweaks, breaks etc etc.
And for my surprise when I got to the club in Romania I had to play on a rotative mixer that had never seen before:

So I couldnt fully feel free to perform at my best, but the gig went fine nonetheless and here is the LIVE recording of it, 3hrs+ of tracks that I don't usually share in sets and play only live... Dark & Proggy of course! ;)
This is the pic of that night:

Ok.I gotta get into this here. I understand being on a new mixer and it feeling weird. But I too have always been a pioneer dj. But I was offered a chance to spin in Pittsburgh a while back and the mixer they had for the evening was a X-92. Now I had in my mind, pined over this mixer and it's glassy faders and 4 band eq, without ever touching one.
Well that night I had what I still believe was my best live set and the best Dj gig of my career so far. That mixer is the best fecking thing out there. And as for effects... I really didn't miss them with this baby.
And on the subject of bad Dj's. We can also throw in a couple of the top techno DJ's Mr. Atkins and Mr. May. Howells has had so many mixes that i've heard him mess up on, that I can't even listen to a set from him anymore.
I tell ya, if I ever went to see a big named DJ and they started to trainwreck, I would wait until they did it again. Then I would proceed to make my way to the DJ booth and ask the DJ if they need any advice on how to DJ properly without wrecking every track.
And to Chloe...you mentioned about some of these people who are Producers and not DJ's...but they are dj'ing anyways...to me that is NOT a worthy response, it's a cop-out to justify that they have not spent any real time trying to learn their craft, just as they did with their productions.
OK. I'm done.
