Wow that must be before he started on the epic fantasy stuff.

I'm reading Charles Stross' Halting State. A near-future novel about a bank heist in a game like WOW. Difficult to read because it's written in 2nd person so it feels like you're in Penthouse Letters without the sex.
man i have that on my wishlist. isn't the premise something like institutions using gamers to do illegal activities? how's it thus far?

It's actually good once you get around the different points of views. Because it's a near-future setting, the ideas he put forth are already around now, he just took it to a silly extreme. It's basically a conspiracy novel with these hapless characters who were embroiled in some Chinese plot to hack and destroy the EU. The protagonists had been participating in an alternate reality game called Spooks 2.0 (like NIN's Year Zero or Halo's I love bees) and had unwittingly been manouvered by government agencies to do their dirty work. I actually plan on re-reading it.

Re: What book are you reading now?

The Piano Shop on the Left Bank by Thad Carhart.

Only into the first three or four chapters but it's a brilliant book about love of music and pianos, in the middle of Paris.

For all those novices (like myself) who are working as therapists, this is essential reading. I have been an avid follower of Irvin's work. He inspires me in my work like no other.

Love's Executioner..., a wonderful read. I got so much from it. You should check out "Momma and the meaning of life" for a similar read. Just as good, and also by Irvin.

For a more theoretical read, check out "Existential psychotherapy" - best book I ever read in this field - again by Irvin. It's regarded as a classic.

Do you know any link to d/l it? I can´t get it here in Argentina... I´ve read some of JBL and Yamaha handbools of acoustics and sound reinforcement, and some articles about mixing/producing; but not this book. Thank you!

Re: What book are you reading now?

hey, sorry i don't know where to d/l it. It's a textbook from a program my friend took, before he passed it on to me. I'm not even sure if they print it still- it's about 8 years old. There must be a book that covers something on the same lines in Argentina....?
