trainspotting. Its interesting, Ive never seen the movie but I think it would be better just because the words are hard to read when they are actually written out with an accent.

#275577Post 45 of 495

^^^ you HAVE to see the movie.. one of my all time faves. You'll love it!

#275580Post 46 of 495

I will watch it. Im getting really fed up with the book because I cant understand half the words. I wonder if they have an "american" copy lol.

Re: What book are you reading now?

Like some others here, I'm also reading Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower VII'. It's great because I get to see how this epic journey ends but it's also disappointing to know that this is it for the Dark Tower series. My favorite King novel to date has been 'Bag Of Bones'. It's a wicked ghost story.

'Bag Of Bones' is definately a different kind of feel for a Stephen King novel but that's what I like about it. I have read almost all of his novels and 'BOB' was a welcome change IMHO. The creep factor was also a plus.

Re: What book are you reading now?

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

It's an intelligent and lucid thriller that connects the gusto of an international murder mystery with a collection of fascinating esoterica culled from 2,000 years of Western history. i like it. :Bingo:

Re: What book are you reading now?

I've just finished The Da Vinci Code, best book i've read in ages, and started Angels and Demons, which seems to be just as good so far. (It gets me through the daily commute on the train anyway)

#281479Post 76 of 495

Re: What book are you reading now?

I read Angels and Demons too. Great! The story is much more complex than The Da Vinci Code. It's the better one of both, I think! Have fun!

Good call! Douglas Adams is hilarious. All five of those Hitchiker books are amazing. I heard they've been trying to make it into a movie with Jim Carey as Zaphod for a while now ... but with his death its been complicated. They already did a BBC TV series on it in the 80's that was absolutely horrible, but in a funny way. Has anyone else seen it? The special effects are rediculous, but good for a laugh. The Dirk Gently book series he does is good as well.

I recently read "Nine Stories" by J.D. Salinger and really enjoyed it. "Franny and Zooey" and "Raise the High roofbeam, Carpenters" by him are also really good ... but a little weird. They continue the from the short story of a prodigy family that was in "nine stories". Really interesting though.
