One of the very best of the series. After the first 3 tracks or so, this mix is PERFECT. Too bad neither of them plays like this live.

Turbo's Montreal / Stockholm / Toronto Mix Sessions. Jesper Dahlbäck, Adam Beyer, Laflèche and Kenny Glasgow. I haven't listened to them in ages, but I remember loving them.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

expeditions nick warren in brazil junior vasquez's double CD which ended in the dolly parton peace train remix. harlem nights CDs hell, i even enjoyed the first two, and only the first two, seb fontaine series. they were pretty good without being a cheese fest, then he sold out.

vol 3 is incredible. disc 1 is just a journey. the mix between 'nightstalker' and 'i wish you were here' is one of my favorite mixes of all time.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

I always found it funny how Danny Howells Nocturnal Frequencies 2 and his Global Underground Nubreed Cd where released the same year. His Nocturnal Frequencies Cd i adore. But his Nubreed does nothing for me at all. I suppose its better to do 2 Cd's completely different if you are going to release them close together. I think the Nubreed was more underground. The dark beats.

Moscow was great when it came out. but i found i got bored of it really quick. The funny thing is it says on the cover "And Never loses Its Way" I felt it did lose its way about half way through the second disc.

Toronto for some strange reason had loads of great tracks on it that didn't go together very well.

But the two After Hours disc's, absolutely brilliant. Only bested by Yoshiesque 2

You won't get any bashing from me - that CD is what clued me on to the whole concept of proper "mix" albums in the first place. Prior to that I didn't realize there was a whole world of electronica outside of stuff like Orbital, Chemical Brothers, Squarepusher, Theorem ect.. ect.. It's lightyears away from the kind of music I listen to now but that mix will always hold a special spot in my collection.

Perfectly captures the early proghouse sound, right after trance got played out and right before it all went bspf.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

one of my fav. mixed comp. that has fallen into obscurity (IMO) is the Deep Dish - Yoshiesque 1. One of the first mixed comp i ever bought. Still in my opinion, very ahead of its time and a sick mix of many different styles, which got me into the harder/deeper sounds of house.

Back in 99 he mixed Traceglobalnation 3. Really good mix that captured the good side of trance at the time. It was miles ahead of the other cds in that series.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

Trance Nation America (MOS compilation) but JVM disc 1 and Taylor disc 2. Like Tranceglobal nation 3 this never stuck out alot because at that time MOS were releasing Ferry Corsten mixes in shitloads.

The Lucien Foort Singularity 1 and 2 compilations.

Expeditions by S&D has definitely not fallen into obscurity, not on my playlist any way.

amen to that! love that Many Tentacles Pimpin' on tha Keys track.

Dave Seaman's Renaisance: America was sooooo effin' good. probably the only thing i liked from him.

Gatecrasher Black was also one of the mix cd's i always had around. such a good listen for a mainstream club compilation.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

So many comps mentioned here that have NOT fallen into obscurity.

Yoshiesque I is well recognized masterpiece so it hardly qualifies.

Man I love being a bitch and moaning.

Re: Favorite mix comps which have fallen into obscurity

A few from my vaults:

Cass: Interpretations III http://www.discogs.com/release/461129 great progressive stuff

Touche Compilation 2: http://www.discogs.com/release/102489 90s techno/deep house classics

Cajmere and DJ Sneak: The Future Sound of Chicago: http://www.discogs.com/release/9160 from 1995, and still harder than most of today's sounds

Morales disc is potentially the best U.S garage and soulful House mix i've ever heard, while the Dave Seaman and BT discs are pure proggy class.

One of my first absolute favorite mix cds, often overshadowed by Yoshiesque 1:

Deep Dish - Renaissance Ibiza

i diden't know it was recognized as a masterpiece in the online communities. out of all my friends who are well versed in house and progressive no one seems to remember that compilation, so thats why i considered it to have fallen into obscurity. thats why these forums are great, you people analyze the music as much as i do!
