Wow! "The Dragon" by Tilt was my first Essential mix experience. Fucking rad! But now my fav opener was from 24/7 night disk: Bent- Ordinary day-i can listen to that mix on repeat forever!
well, it's a live set for me, and wow, it's from digweed.
the year he won #1 dj from dj mag, and broadcast his ceremony or whatever from bedrock on his kiss show, like nov 5th or something 2001 i'm thinking. anyway, some girl introduces him as #1 , the crowd screams like mad, he drops that Peace Division cut. I wet my pants.
You should have been in the crowd mate, it was awesome.
How about Danny Howells Nocturnal Freq 3 CD2 Mario Picotto, Mix mag cover 2003 Groove Armada Vertigo
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
uh yeah! that mix of mauro picotto is one of my favorites :CoolOne:

my thoughts exactly
Sander Kleinenberg - Everybody: Its A Renaissance Renaissance: Revelation - Danny Howells' Disc
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
Hernan@Moonpark.
aKa, it?s good isn?t it. that opening track just blows me away.
i know it's a little premature but i have to say one of the most moving club experiences i had was when sasha opened his july 24 2004 @ fabric set with blueroomproject - pure.
i play back the video, i play the clip on jeff belfi's site. everytime that arrangement of music enters my brain all the hairs on the back of my neck stand upright, i feel a shiver down my spine and i'm there.
i also have to say the opening to NE1 is fantastic. ambient bliss.
anyone for the offspring - smash lp? what a way to kick that CD off.
Ah, it's time to relax, and you know what that means, a glass of wine, your favourite easy chair and of course this compact disc playing on your home stereo. So go on indulge yourself, that's right, kick off your shoes, put your feet up, lean back and and just enjoy the melodies. After all, music soothes even the savage beast....
the best is the Northern exposure expeditions....
the essential of the year like 2 yeass a go by Sander Kleinenberg had an excellent acapella....
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
i like the track sander opened with on the GU nubreed disc #2. i know its old as hell but still.....Story of the Heaviest Bassline Ever
i was thinking the same thing when i saw this thread. also sander's first essential mix from about the same time.
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
how do you feel about these intros:
Matt Damon (from "Good Will Hunting") - House Music
OR
intro accapella: Nathan Fake - Underberg | saw
check them out here: http://www.lukemorrison.com/audio.html

Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
For me the most impressive start or Intro to a CD was Satoshi Tomiie's Nubreed 6, first CD first record. Don't remember the name, but damn...that's heavy shit to start a set.
It will always have to be Raff & Freddy Deep Progress (Sasha, Ibiza) for me. Always....
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
i think sasha rules the roost on intro's. Chiva chant to Beatiful monday on the glastonbury mix is awesome, but i really like the moonpark intro, can't remeber the track, but it was an unreleased edit or mix of one of the Airdrawndager tracks, into the Quest and the the dirty fours, brilliant stuff.
Pity for sasha its usually all downhill after the intro
also an honourable mention to Zabiela for the ALive intro-the number one

Creamer & K - Numb - Saw records.. I agree this is a sick track to open set. I had to buy this record as soon as I heard the opening. :Bingo:

....and i thought you didn't like any good music Jenks.... :Naughty:
the intro was the month after from the DJ mag awards at Bedrock, the set was from the 3rd birthday the month after with Sasha, incredible night that was, Warm up from Cattaneo then 3 hours of S&D, fucking rammed in there though.
man, i would have jumped out of my skin at that kind of reception.
wish i could have been there.
it's amazing even on cd.
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
The Amalgamation Of Soundz - Fabric 12 -> Cliff Martinez - Helicopter well the whole cd is awsome
Zabiela's openers are good too with the samples & FX things The GU electric calm cds GU022 CD1 GU023 CD1 well there are too many...
So far I didn't hear better opener than the one in Parks and Wilson's emix from 2000 - they started with a some traditional japanese tune and then went straight to Tilt "The dragon" , it's massive for me
i've got this set and the intro is a peace of art
^^^ Daleks :)
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
Sander Kleinenbergs EM from 2001.
^ NICE ONE
forgot about that for some reason.
best intro ever :Bingo:
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
not saying it's the best...but I really like the beginning of Pako and Frederik's Atlantik Breakers mix
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
Sander Kleinenbergs EM from 2001.
:Bingo: Yeah that was definately a good one. Also gotta mention Moshic's EM.
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
great analogy, comparing intros of a set to the anticipation/climax towards nookie :) gotta go icehouse - dont believe anymore [gough + snape remix] too. love the song. anything with originality is great. throw some film excerpts, along with ambient pieces, not so much big tunes i.e. invisible inc - stars, but obscure downtempo tunes/records. i think gerrard did something of the likes in his kiss set early this year?
Flame me,but the opening of Paul Oakenfold Another World CD2 is brillaint - Jamez presents tatoine-Music
Flame me,but the opening of Paul Oakenfold Another World CD2 is brillaint - Jamez presents tatoine-Music
:Yahoo: :Yahoo: :KillYou: :Boom: how is that?? :P
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
for me it has to be....
planet funk-inside all the people. (harvey ibiza sleepy mix)
sasha played it around 99.
real cool tune to set the mood.
or break in the clouds, fluffapella.
Flame me,but the opening of Paul Oakenfold Another World CD2 is brillaint - Jamez presents tatoine-Music
actually, that's not a bad intro. and not a bad cd to be honest. But that was then and this is now, and Oakey is shite. Got way too big for his own good, and the good of the music.
the intro cd1 of zabiela's alive has to be my choice - love the crazy dalek sounds!
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
this isn't for a set or cd, but for a single track...2 Full Moons and a Trout by Union Jack..the Casper Pound remix...dark pianos and ambient soundscapes....claaasss!!!
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
i been trying to use Eric Prydz Feat Adeva - In & out, its really great!, but still looking for a good track for playing after that :x any suggestions?
oooh! and another GREAT opening Oneiro - Shhh! (circles of sorrow remix)

Would it be this mix, cause that is one of my favorite intros to a set:
Sasha and Sander Kleinenberg - Kiss100 FM (NYE 2002) mix
it slowly set the mood with very good pace and then they just started to let it rip (unfortunately with a bit too much commercial stuff mixed in), but a great start nonetheless
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
Orbital Halcyon would be an amazing way to start a set/cd
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
From Peter Gabriel - Passion - It Is Accomplished
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
I think Digweed live at Heaven 4th b-day party.
Lexicon Avenue's - only when I lose myself really sets the tone for the night.
Re: Best Intro/Start to a set or cd.
indeed it is good old rubyraks.
love that intro. :Bingo:

wow, Diggers opened with that? I'd like to hear that set.
I played a New Years party and played it at around 5am.. That song is very versatile I guess, lol
