Re: would you girls do this ?

I think some of the comments made in this thread are completely inappropriate...calling her trailer trash? What grounds are you making this call on?

She is not the first woman that has done this...I remember a few years back there was something similar in the news after 9/11. I don't see anything wrong with it. She is has the child of the person she loved, and how is that wrong?

I am guessing if she has his sperm in the first place they had to have agreed to it at some point....I am guessing they did it when they found out she had fertility issues (which they mention about her in the article).

Re: would you girls do this ?

Oh and to answer the initial question...I don't know if I would do it or not...at this point in my life I wouldn't as I don't really want kids, nor can I afford to support a child right now....down the road though, who knows

Re: would you girls do this ?
^ are you implying that you toss salad? :Naughty: :LoveYou:
eeek. that's a phrase I refuse to use!

But in terms of content, sld tossing is certainly in my repetoire. ;) There aren't many activities that aren't. In fact I can't think of any that aren't.

But like all barriers, you don't know you have them until you cross them. .......

And just for clarification purposes, I don't have a right or wrong stance on this. She's a grown woman & she should do as she pleases, and if her dead squadie pemits the use of his spurems when he dies, then that's between them both. I just think it's rediculous she feels it necessary when there's a whole other avenue of things she could explore and develop.

Re: would you girls do this ?

I come to this from a slightly different angle. This thing that I find wrong is actually planning to have a child with only one parent. This thing about women having the right to have children regardless gets up my nose. What about the childrens rights.?? I can speak with authority, I'm a single parent, allthough I didn't plan it!! Bringing up a child on your own is very, very hard, regardless of friends and relatives support ultimately you are the only one totally responsible for that child 24/7 !! So look at this situation, 42 year old woman hanging on to her dead husbands memory. You have to question her motives for having this child. I don't believe a child should be seen as a part of anyone else.!! She's going to be 63 at his 21st!!

Every child should have a right to the best possible start in life and that means at least starting with two loving parents. Actually planning for less than that is totally unfair to the child!!

Obviously there are lots of single parent families out there doing a great job bringing up wonderful children .But it is not what we should be aiming for. So, no. I definitely would not do it!!

btw I don't find it particulary creepy.
It's really not your place, or mine, or anyone else's on here to judge that woman so harshly for choices she made that are so deeply personal to her and are intertwined with her relationship she had with her late husband.
That's not true. She needs a male in her life to make the right decisions for her. She's not capable.

Re: would you girls do this ?

personally i dont see any problem in this, the sperm was voluntarily donated with the intension that it would be used to father a child anyway so even now he's dead that was still the intension for it anyway

edit : either that or she's been fucking around
I would never do something like that. It would make it next to impossible to move on from the lost love, and the child would be a constant reminder of him. Also, I'd never want to have a kid without someone that could help me raise it.
Spot on!

And if she did meet someone later on, she'd had to explain it to futher relationships.

Tryst
not really :!: it all depends on how you see things... just maybe what if this reminder of him was a positive feeling and just maybe if her husband had died after she got pregnant who could then help her raise a child and just maybe if she had to explain herself couldnt it be possible it would be to someone who has no problem with it

I can only say this: I wouldnt give any thought to what others would think is cool or not and I'd dot it but as I said I have no idea on what I'd do in a real situation :|
