I got to a pretty big university myself (27,000 students). Shudder to think the system around here let somebody as crazy as that gunman slip through the cracks...apparently the guy should have been in a mental ward for years or at least on some sort of meds.

here's a question: why haven't we heard much about this dude's parents? I just saw in a story, for the first time, that his parents work at a dry cleaner in the DC suburbs. I had heard so little about them, I had assumed that they had passed away or something.

I guess in fairness to them, I wouldn't be eager to speak to the public if I were in their shoes, and there is enough hostility about what happened, they might rightfully fear for their safety if they were to come out. On the other hand, when your son does something like that, I don't know if you can just pretend it never happened.

guy was a paranoid delusional, he invisioned himself as a martyr. he though others were responsible for what he did, not his own dimented psyche. he literally thought he was crucified and abused by everyone around him.
