Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

mine used to freeze up too, then i read that if u have a Hyper-Threaded CPU you can set the process to only run on 1 cpu

to do this you open task manager, right click slsk.exe->set affinity and untick one of the cpu's

this seems to work for me

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

:Bingo:

I was getting ready to post that too. I looked at it, but that's about it. I tried doing the config thing with Nictotine and I felt like I was trying to bring Apollo 13 back to earth. What a pain in the ass!

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

I think that slsk continues being good because is there in where the greater amount of songs can be found, but never we must forget, that before all community in where archives share, the artist is due to support

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

Actually i was reading lately there were 7,5 million downloads of winmx recently and when i was there it seemed alot more busy - just my observation.

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

Use eMule it's a bit difficult to configure but you can find whatever you want!

I've found some sets that I can't find with SoulSeek :Smiling:

If some one is interested I can give you some advice to configure eMule :Rolling:

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

SLSK works for me...

But you can also try peer to peer things like direct connect

#268142Post 48 of 88

Soulseek is still great. Although it has it's regular fuck up - please install me again - thing...

Recently started using Winmx and haven't found too much yet on it. eMule and eDonkey are not really transparent for me, but to be honest I haven't given it a fair chance. Mainly because slsk does do the trick for me...

#268147Post 49 of 88

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

u should give direct connect a try but soulseek imo is just what u need..

#268155Post 50 of 88

hear hear...;-)

Where do you get direct connect anyway?

#271065Post 56 of 88

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

SoulSeek has been acting especially weird for me lately, as well. It doesn't connect when I want it to, and it's always losing my preferences and settings. It's getting to be very annoying at this point. Gah. Anyone else have this problem???

#271292Post 57 of 88

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

You're right it's a bug, you have to copy your .cfg files from SoulSeek folder to another one, if you don't get a backup of these files you can lose your userlist, files that you're downloading . . .

Just backup your .cfg files

#271299Post 58 of 88

I use at times: DC hubs, Winmx, Soulseek, and Ares. I still prefer SS though :) Maybe its me, but I find most dj sets on ss.

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

I still use my 8 tracks...they are just wonderful.

#271518Post 60 of 88

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

i'm too impatient to use slsk. those queues are crazy. dc is still my p2p of choice.

#271743Post 61 of 88

I used to have winmx... until i found slsk. it works better 4 moi. :Bingo:

Never heard of DC hubs n' Ares before... gonna try them

#271949Post 62 of 88

I tried and could not connect to it, so i thought there might be others.

Sorry, but i only saw one post that listed a hub. I skimmed, nut that was all i saw.

Sorry.

#271960Post 65 of 88

I just read the thread again and I still only see one HUB listed. Are there more? I don't think i should have been jumped all over if there is only one hub posed in the thread.

I read the thread before i posted.

As a newbie, i feel welcome.

Re: Soulseek alternatives..........

If you missed some dj sets on ms, you can find them on soulseek for freeeeeeee

#272933Post 73 of 88

Back up the cfg files is always a good idea when using slsk. For all the rest: be patient and you'll find a lot of stuff.

Search function could have been better in slsk.
