Re: addicitons
find something usefull to do with your free time
hang out with different people
Re: addicitons
ya Ive done that. But now I dont mind just kicking it by myself when I get loaded
Re: addicitons
Damn dude that sucks. I hope you can find a way to break the habit.
Re: addicitons
Find a long term project, set goals and focus. Or get yourself an environment with enough social control? I dunno, just hang in there!
Re: addicitons
Yea, hang in there. Stay on MS 24/7.
Re: addicitons
Hang out with different people or find something else to occupy your time. Take a night course at your local college, start going to the gym...anything to occupy your mind.

Good for you bro.
Re: addicitons
there must be something causing you to feel the need to get fucked up. most drugs are out of your system quick enough that it is not a physical addiction more so a mental one. there are internal and external forces that would cause you to react in the way you do to what life throws at you. whether its external stress's from work or social surroundings. you have taken away the part of your life that made you do drugs before, and you find yourself still doing them. the best way i feel to stop doing drugs would be to deal with these things that make you do drugs. do you feel down, do you feel like you cant deal with pressures of work, or bills? if i were you i would think of seeing a therapist. of course this comes from the son of a psychologist... but you need to get control of your life and often they can help. they can help you get control and feeling like you can tackle the issues of what may stress you out. because you obviously want to stop, and it cant be just about feeling fucked up which you love... their must be an external force. things that can help... is defo exercise... my dad says to all his patients and firmly believes that this is far and away the best medicine (which he feels meds should be a last case scenario... only to fix imbalances). exercise can relieve stress, make you feel healthier and better about yourself. and like others said, you have to remove yourself from temptations... hobbies, anything constructive that can keep your mind off drugs will be crucial. i have helped a few people with drug problems and some kicked it better than others. i wish you the best :)

I completely understand that...I just started exercising, you know, going to the gym, lifting weights and stuff, not because I had any kind of aesthetic worry, but because I felt a need to find a way to direct my natural aggressiveness at something.
I have a bad temper, short fuse, whatever you call it, and lots of times I regret some of my reactions because they are too hot headed, so this is helping me out.
Anyway, this probably doesn?t do the original poster any good, but I still say, dude, some physical exercise will help you a A LOT.
Re: addicitons
side note on addictions... in studies of the brain, addictions are merely a sequence of senses that go off at once that develop into a sort of web that people feel comfortable or attached to... and feel uncomfortable without. examples would be of people who get very worked up when they dont get to go to that bar they always go to or have their cup of coffee in the morning. and they way to break those "webs" is to simply not do it (easier said then done). obviously drugs are harder than other habits, but everyone has them ... by nature humans are creatures of habit. the problem with drugs, is that the effect of drugs is the way you feel coming down puts you in a downward spiral... no one is without addiction its some got caught up in stuff others didnt. dont feel as if anything is wrong with you, you just gotta make it right... and know you will!
Re: addicitons
stop crushing so much.
Re: addicitons
you can do any one of six hundred million things. until your mind is ready to give it up, you'll continue to struggle. thats just a fact. it's ok to get jacked how ever often you want, but when you start "needing" to get ripped is the real problem. hopefully you can find something to occupy your time thats equally pleasing and satisfactory. start with music and go from there. good luck.
Re: addicitons
thnx for the input. this seriously sucks. I am doing everything I know that will keep my mind busy. work, school just isnt enough. I have done it before so I know I can do it again. Hard thing is you give up one thing to start another, seems to never end
Re: addicitons
I think we all have a void that we try to fill with all of the above when really only one thing can fill it, a higher power, than ourselves. I won't go on much further because I think its pretty much common sense to all humans, some agree some would rather not, but the feeling of "needing" is universal for a reason.

all these posts are you straight?! sheesh :)
Re: addicitons
hey man, one of the best things you can do is find friends that keep themsleves busy doing other things and don't resort to partying all of the time. If they're true friends they'll keep you on the right track. exercising is definitely a plus, it gives you a sense of well being and once you have that you just want to improve on that aspect. It's all about staying focused on something positive and don't leave yourself time to want to get f'd up. It's definitely not easy but once you get over the first hill you'll be alright. Once again, keep good friends around you and stay busy.
Re: addicitons
again thanks for the input. I agree that keeping busy is the best way to keep clean because when we (addicts) have too much time we begin to think about it. Spirituality has helped alot too. I am a practicing member of a religion and I am trying to use that for strength as well. I know that there are so many people right now that are having issues with addicitons. We all know or have friends that have even died from them. The most difficult thing for me right now is not playing in clubs. This is what I love to do, but if I am serious about living then I know its something that I can give up. Maybe start doing weddings or something. I just hope that as I recognize my need to come clean someone else can take help from others that are here to help.

But then you'll get hooked on drunk brides maids. Trust me, I've seen it happen. :D But seriously, to quit, you need to cut its influences, like friends and venues out of your life. It might make life seem a bit boring for a little while....but then other positive and enjoyable things will fill the void that club life and old friends left behind.
Re: addicitons
Its tough really and you are the only one that knows what todo. Sure i have gone down the drug road before but u gotta know where the cutoff point is. I have an addictive personailty myself but luckily my friends bar one or two were never really into drugs, that plus its hard to get drugs in the social circles i hang out in. I mean you could say drink is the worst drug which is a major part of our culture so its tough to keep that at a resonable level too. As much as the goverment/policticians go on i dont blame people for drinking/taking drugs cause theres really shitall else todo after a shitty weeks work. Thats modern life for me anyway.
Re: addicitons
In addition to the great advice already posted, I'd say that whenever you find yourself alone, mulling over your problems, get up and do something right away. Not that some "me-time" is a bad thing, but you're more apt to be sucked into negative thinking if you're just sitting by yourself stewing over your problems - even the best intentions can be easily ruined with only a few minutes of depressed thinking.
If you find yourself getting drawn into those kinds of thoughts, do whatever you can to change your mood. Go for a jog, take a walk down to the coffee shop, read, write, watch Thundercats reruns - anything. I'm sure we've all found ourselves sinking into a series of negative thoughts from time to time, best thing to do is change the atmosphere before it really pulls you down.
Best of luck pilot - getting through something like this ain't an easy task, but it is well within your ability if you stay determined.
Re: addicitons
It is hard. The road to sobriety sucks. But its the price I pay for making stupid decisions. Everything that is being posted is true, except for maybe the drunk brides maids which are fun by the way, and thats usually the hardest part of an addiction, admitting that we have a problem. This morning I have been reading online about addictions and rehab. This is a quote I found: If you place a thing in the center of your life that lacks the power to nourish It will eventually poison everything you are and destroy you. -"Liontamer" by Faithless
Re: addicitons
Well you are heading in the right direction by talking about it then for sure. Try and look at the times when u do slip up (such as in clubs) and try and avoid those triggers. Tbh, if u have been in rehab before then u must know all the stuff that has been said on here already, but if talking about it helps then keep doing it. Just take it one day, hour, or even minute at a time if need be... Try having a look around here

I bought them both.. go for it.

Re: addicitons
This kind of applies, if not, well here it is anyway...
If you plant honesty, you will reap trust. If you plant goodness, you will reap friends. If you plant humility, you will reap greatness. If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory. If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony. If you plant hard work, you will reap success. If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation. If you plant openness, you will reap intimacy. If you plant patience, you will reap improvements. If you plant faith, you will reap miracles. But: If you plant dishonesty, you will reap distrust. If you plant selfishness, you will reap loneliness. If you plant pride, you will reap destruction. If you plant envy, you will reap trouble. If you plant laziness, you will reap stagnation. If you plant bitterness, you will reap isolation. If you plant greed, you will reap loss. If you plant gossip, you will reap enemies. If you plant worries, you will reap wrinkles. If you plant sin, you will reap guilt.
Re: addicitons
I reccomend working it all out wheather it be physically (excercise) or creatively.. write it out. Try to change peope/ places/ things. Take it one day at a time. Don't get cought up in what you're not doing, try to think about what you are doing.. taking care of yourself and just being that much smarter. You can try to go to NA or something like that. It really helps to realize that there's probably twenty more of you out there working towards the same things. Addiction is all about muting out self awareness but at the same time being only centered around the self. Try to realize that there's a whole world happening out there.. and you're totally cheating yourself out of it. It's important to realize that there's so many better things out there than what chemicals have to offer. You can do it, I know you can.. because I did.. and if I could, I think that just about covers the rest of the population of the world in possibility.
Re: addicitons
My head is starting to feel "normal" again. Seriously, I didnt post this looking for sympathy. I read what people have to say and try to apply what I read. Im taking it day by day.
Re: addicitons
Ok, so I want to make an update cause Im actually pretty excited. I have now been clean for more than three weeks. This weekend I was in LA to see Wisternoff and Schulz and I knew that it was going to be hard. I was there with a good friend of mine that is also a recovering addict. We made it the whole night, it was so cool. Its weird to say cause I had never been able to imagine being at a party and being sober, and I mean completly sober, no drugs, alcohol nothing. It was hard at first but then during the night I didnt think about it much. The show was dope and I had a great time being sober. Who would have thought? Thanks again for all the input, it actually helped and Im doing great.
