Personally, living in an area surrounded by shanty towns, I´ve actually learned to do the opposite. They´d always cross the road if they noticed me avoiding them...so as I grew, I learned to walk straight ahead, keep my head up, and show no fear.

It´s been years since I´ve had any problems.

have you ever considered the possibility that IF something bad has to happen to you, it will happen to you regardless of the fact that you're walking down the street or sitting in your lazyboy at home?

what has to happen will happen and altering your lifestyle by avoiding a bunch of guys who look like thugs approaching you from the opposite direction is no solution to a false sense of safety more so than being potrayed as discriminatory behavoiur and only add to the miserable racial problems that have crept into the world today.

thank you... half you guys would never make it where i live... drug dealers kill drug dealers or fuckwits that rip them off... they could give a flying fuck about you. seriously, in my hood (and it IS the hood, probably 80% black) the worse thing you can do is steal... you won't last long... Literally. Both my Audi and Explorer have never been broken into, I've never been threatened or felt threatened and people look out for one another. Sure I have to deal with twats who buy drugs all day and night but the dealers know not to stand in front of the properties we or our friends own... In turn I don't give a shit what they do anywhere else and they look out for our us and our friends stuff... kinda of a repectful truce. Unless you've lived in the inner city it's hard to explain. Actually, I'd rather live in a black neighborhood over a poor white trash inner city neighborhood any fucking day of the week... Why? because those are the fuckwits who steal anything and everything and then come to my section to buy the drugs...

lets not turn this into my citys hood is more hood than your citys hood, we all know NY has some of the hardest hoods in the country, but i've been through the hoods in the bronx, brooklyn, queensbridge projects, and i gotta say,every big city has its hoods, thats standard, but no one hood is more gangsta than the next, how is the bronx more gangsta than some hoods in south philly, baltimore, atlanta???, theres no way of measuring that sort of thing, so you just go along with the notion that the hood is the hood (not a good place to live no matter what your location).
