Just how good is this? I listened again yesterday, what an amazing mix.

Just think, this is a live recording from a club, yet the mixing is absolutely flawless. Check out the mix from ABAStructure into Xpander - un-fucking-real. Why isn't he this good now?

Re: John Digweeds 1999 EM from Twilo

i was at that show. wild night.

he is still good, probably better, most people dont ever get to hear what digweed is like in new york at 5 am.... he rarely gets to play for 9 hours.

the difference isnt him, its the producers. we no longer have guys who can make music like they did back then. we will never have another breeder. and the old adage of sasha and digweed have the same recrods, but play them differently is off nowadays, sasha and tiesto have more records in common.

I heard this was a studio mix based to reflect a night at Twilo, which he then ultimately made the Bedrock mix off of.

Still one of the greatest essential mixes ever. I still listen to it from time to time. Always enjoy listening to it b/c it brings back so many great memories.

I got that one too. I actually was able to find more than half of what he played. The Aba Structure one was available at Massive Records a while ago, but I think they went down.

yeah, it does suck. But they were a bit expensive compared to other online shops. Not sure if that was one of the reasons.

I did find some gems at that place. I purchased that rare Desyfer - 831 promo from them back in 2000 I think.

shame, just like Groovetech's onlinse shop. That one was ace too.

I never thought I would say this about Mr. Digweed but, I agree. I came back expecting some good dirty prog and all i got was sounds that Nintendo would be proud of. This new revolution of EDM stinks.

#702068Post 33 of 62

Re: John Digweeds 1999 EM from Twilo

Can't agree with you guys...80% of his shows in the last 2 months were top notch in my book and he came back a bit to playing tracks I like better..they must not be 100% progressive but at least have a melody or something and a stucture and building I can recognize. Sadly, he picked a lot of bad clickity click tracks in previous shows and also when I saw him live last year but every live set I heard from him lately was ACE and every report I heard from people who saw him was very postive as well.

But he is still not "back" for me. He only is in a phase obviously right now I can connect myself more with again because he plays tracks I like to listen to. If he chooses to play Big Band sound next year, I wish him all the best and listen to something else and keep the good side of him in mind. I don't get this complaining fetish anyway. I moan about bad sets as well but there was never a time I did not know enough DJs which sound I liked better so I just move on.

Re: John Digweeds 1999 EM from Twilo

i can only hope that when I see him next week in Austin that he has a 99-2000 flashback moment and makes me eat my words

I never had a chance to see him while he was kicking out tunes that were so dirty you had to shower after you listened

Re: John Digweeds 1999 EM from Twilo

Could someone post this set? Went to Twilo back in 2000 before it closed. That was a fun club!

#705176Post 37 of 62

Re: John Digweeds 1999 EM from Twilo

Tom - Kind of agree with you, and I certainly have loads of dj's that I prefer/listen to over Digweed, namely Jondi & Spesh, Luke Morrison and Shiloh.

I have downloaded one Kiss set in the past 2 months, and there were about 2 decent tracks in there. But he started with 2 Rekleiner tracks that, IMO, were just plain garbage - a repetitive noise for 10+ minutes. I just can't comprehend how some people dig this sound?
