Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
well at least we know by the guy that actually does the mixing for these cd's that the mixing quality will be good. Better than Sharam can do himself.

Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
that tracklist is hurting.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
Well good luck guys, listening to your minimal crap that will be forgotten within the week, or probably hour.
This will be a decent release IMO
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
I really wish GU would revive the Nubreed and/or 24:7 series. There are loads of more deserving DJs out there...perhaps most of the deserving DJs just laugh when asked if they'd like to do a GU compilation...who knows...
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
unfortunately the 24-7 was not really all that groundbreaking, they already had two dj's that had put out nubreed cd's on that roster. Maybe they thought that people would be more into the regular GU stuff...and they were right.
I know I don't feel like spending $20.00 for two cd's...one of which i'll most likely never listen to. Now I know that doesn't hold everyone's view...just mine.
There are definitely more deserving dj/producers out there that would be much better. But Andy has his head up his ass since James left.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
these cd's are terrible.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
yeah I think so also
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
Horrible CD's period. And what was he thinking on CD 2 at the end??? The last song just kills the terribly made CD. And no flow whatsoever. Goes from one track to another with absolutely no flow. Cedric Gervais is so cheesie and his track killed this CD as well.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i didn't even get through all of both cd's. 40 minutes in to cd1 i was asking myself what the fuck i was still listening for. so i threw on cd2 hoping it would be a little 'dubbier' and what i got was a double serving of Feta. it stunk and didn't go down well at all.
one question to Sharam..... What The Fuck?!?!
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
So far I'm thinking it's ok, couple of great tunes on there, namely:
Lunascape-Mindstalking Jiva-Timelapse Cedric Gervais - Spirit in my Life Miss Nine - Everlasting
Havent heard all of CD2 yet though. I DO agree that there isn't as much of a flow as there could be really, feels like he didn't put 100% into the mix. But I got it for £7.99 from blahdvd.com so I'm not unhappy in the slightest
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
didn't even notice the jiva track. will go back and check that out. just really not happy with these, i was blinded by hate. say not to hate mmmkay
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
After reading all these comments, I'm gonna check this out for kicks...
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i thought it was pretty good to be fair some good tracks on there, dd remix of pvd just doesnt fit in well
dyad 10 - sugar crime mob - stilelettos miss nine - everlasting simon + shaker - zero casa grande - el ayoun manitoe + feedback
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
Suite 117-Smaller (Dave Aude Mix) is also very good
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
However the Spider & Legaz mix of 'Connected is terrible IMO, puts me off the whole of disc 2. They have ruined a classic!
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
these cd's are terrible.
Well that?s a surprise.
I just hope this progressive separation we see between Sharam and Ali means Ali is finally coming to a point where he realizes he needs to leave this douchebag Sharam behind.
these cd's are terrible.
Damn, I couldn't agree more... I'm gonna give it another listen in a couple days just to be fair.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
haven't even gotten my copy in yet, but this is kinda scary...i mean the way you guys are talkin. one question, is it full of electro-shite?

I?m guessin? it?s just full of shite, period.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
whatever you call it, i hated it. from the first track(s) on.....
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
No electro on it, mixture of vocal house and then a sprinkling of chunky house. I give it 6.5 out of 10
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i just got this in, UPS delivered it a little while ago. i like it so far, on the third track, lots of vocal, but thats ok.
but....i read in the booklet that he mixed this with ableton, what is he Sasha now. I'll bet Hernan didn't use ableton to mix Sequential. Doesn't really matter, but WTF. I still like decks(vinyl or cd), so i am biased maybe. I mean i expect it from Sasha but nobody else.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
now i do have a little problem with the ableton issue, he says in the thank you section. quote "ableton live(the only way for traveling djs to make a compilation these days)" What is that supposed to mean. what he can't use decks anymore. i guess the pic of him on the CDJs is just for show.....
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
heard some of the 2nd cd and it sounds like it doesn't flow at all. This could officially be the WORST GU EVER!!!
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i thought all the GU cd's were mixed doing protools mixing.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i mean i like the mix so far( i am at track 7 on cd1), but i am pissed at that little comment. basically saying i don't want to put my time and effort into it, cause i travel. Mix the damn thing properly, i mean how long has he played on decks? I don't know if the GUs were mixed with protools or not. I know Nick Warren mixed most of his on decks cause it says so. i know this was done on a computer for the same reason. i mean i know GU22 and GU24 were "produced", as it says in the credits( i think that means "computer helped"), but those were made to be like an original production album(reediting and remixing and layering of tracks, thats cool). this is more like a club mix that he was too lazy to mix on decks. i should stop bitching, because i actually kinda like the set, i am just disspointed by the comment Sahram made about the only way for a dj to do comps. This is BS, it sounds like laziness to me. whatever though.....opinions please.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
all the gu's were done on protools up to gu20 i know of...probably up to the last NW GU
no wait i think the first ones weren't. And from what i hear the two oaken mixes were actual dj mixes...back when he knew how to do that.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
yeah, those were live mixes i believe, I have GU03, and it was recorded live at the club in Prague. still, just wondering how you know the others were protooled.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
haven't listened and not going to
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i like the first disc, the second is ok. i don't really like the second cd until about half way through. the first disc is pretty decent. not a great or timeless mix, but i will listen to it a few more times. not as bad as the toronto mix, although the afterclub mixes were pretty good.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
i thought the afterclub mixes were pretty decent, there are some good tunes on each of those discs
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
I've been listening to Sharam's Dubai for about a week now and I have to say I'm really surprised as I've long given up on Deep Dish since they stopped spinning at Twilo. Disk 1 is definitely better than Disk 2 but both of them are actually decent to the ear.
In addition, check out this YouTube video. Who wants to bet it's on the next GU DVD? :)

you can also download the video here...
and the way to mix a cd in protools...is very carefully and with a lot of fade in and outs. Basically just like real mixing with the eq's and all that other stuff...it just takes a week to mix a cd that would take a regular dj an hour and 15 minutes to finish.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
actually i am kinda liking disc 1, disc 2 has some good tracks, but i don't like some and the flow is not that great. If this was only one cd(CD 1) i would think it is pretty damn good. I think cd 1 was worth the price though and will listen to this quite often. as far as people talking about too many vocals, they are right, but this is Sharam's style(always was). his afterclub was full of vocal too.
on the protools/ableton end, why take a week instead of the hour and a half it would take. if you got the skills it should not be a problem. if you fuck up, redo it. i don't care that much, because i know they can mix it live, but i don't understand why you would want to do it with a computer only. if you mix it on decks, then do editing, mastering, ect. with the computer I understand that. my 2 cents. i make my mixes live on decks, personally.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
Deep Dish has lost its cool
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
deep dish (the pizza) = its cool deep dish (the group) = their cool

I gave both discs a listen this afternoon for the first time. . . . . and the last.
I know everyone has their own tastes, but this really did bore me from painful beginning to eagerly anticipated end.
Thats 2 hours and 35 minutes I will forget quickly.
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
sorry you put yourself through that. now you must innandate yourself with your favorite tracks for the next four hours...to get yourself back 2 normal.

I am glad that I am not the only one that thinks this way. Sharam has always been a terrible DJ, a close second to Sandra Collins for me and this CD proves it again. at least he didn?t put PATT on it
Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17
gu need to get with the program...this shit is so uninspiring
