SHARAM OF DEEP DISH TO RELEASE FIRST-EVER SOLO MIX ALBUM

‘SHARAM GU29 – DUBAI’

VIA GLOBAL UNDERGROUND ON OCTOBER 17

NORTH AMERICAN SUPPORT DATES CONFIRMED FOR EARLY OCTOBER

SHARAM (Sharam Tayebi)--one half of electronic music duo Deep Dish, one-time Grammy Award winners and four-time nominees--has joined forces again with Global Underground for the release of his own mix album SHARAM GU29 – DUBAI. Due out October 17, the double-disc mix set features songs and remixes by Creamer & K featuring Nadia Ali, Crime Mobb, Paul Van Dyk, Felix Da Housecat, Armin Van Burren, Dave Aude, Sultan, Planet Funk and many more.

After the release last year of Deep Dish’s album George Is On which generated three worldwide hit singles (“Flashdance,” “Say Hello,” “Dreams”), SHARAM with partner Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia--one of the most successful U.S. dance duos in history—are now taking a break from all things ‘Dish’ to continue their solo duties as DJs and producers. SHARAM is first up with Dubai as well as a new single “PATT (Party All The Time),” the essential buzz record of 2006’s Winter Music Conference and must-have record of this summer.

Despite his Middle-Eastern heritage (he was born in Iran and lived there until he was 14), there’s nothing traditional about the songs SHARAM has chosen for his GU set. Right from the start, CD1 sets the mood with upbeat, sensual vocals on Dyad 10’s opener “Sugar (Sweet Thing)” before segueing into Felix’s remix of Syntax’s “Bliss” and “Majorca Roots” from Spider & Legaz. Then it weaves into Deep Dish’s own remix of “The Other Side” by Paul Van Dyk and Dave Aude’s remix of Lunascape’s “Minds Talking” closing with Pig & Dan’s trippy “Eiffel Nights.” The desert storm continues on CD2 with the Joey Negro classic remix of “Direct Me” from the Reese Project, Cedric Gervais’ “Spirit Of My Life,” Sultan & Ned’s “Connected” and Armin Van Burren ft. Nadia Ali’s “Who’s Watching,” closing with the melancholic stormer “Everyday” from Planet Funk.

SHARAM’s Dubai mix is inspired by his April 6, 2006 visit to Trilogy, one of the many super-clubs springing up in this United Arab Emirates’ burgeoning metropolis. In the past 20 years, Dubai has transformed itself from a small old-world trading port into a gateway to the Middle East. The budding Persian Gulf province is now a major business and tourist mecca, creating a playground with year-round sunshine for globetrotters everywhere. With some of the world’s largest skyscrapers (under construction is Burj Dubai, whose height is being kept a secret due to competition, but estimates go as high as 2650 feet) and unique landmarks (largest indoor ski resort Ski Dubai plus the Palm Islands--the three largest artificial islands in the world), shopping malls and leading hotels (Burj El Arab, the only existing seven-star hotel) to its credit, it is no wonder Global Underground chose this ultramodern city for SHARAM’s offering.

Leading up to Dubai’s street date, SHARAM will complete a North American DJ tour in support of his new album. He will pass through select markets including New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Denver and San Francisco beginning on September 29.

I've got four words for you...

party. all. the. time.

i'm sorry, but if this motherfucker thinks i'm ever going to listen to another thing he does after that utterly ridiculous, fucking joke piece of production/remix crap.... (not that he cares and i'm starting to hyperventilate...). anyway, i'll pass thank you very much.

Despite the slagging they get I enjoy their mix cd's. Toronto is a quality release, all 4 discs are chock ful of tunes.

Any album with Sultan tracks on it gets my vote, I'll be buying this

Grossssssss.

So much for variety is the spice of life?

GU dragged the beaten dead horse of Nick Warren on long enough, they are doing the same with Deep Dish. Dissappointing. There are far more deserving DJs out there to do a GU.

One word : pathetic.

All of it...Sharam, GU, and that tracklist.

I´m mildly interested in seeing what Ali comes up with, though.

Yeah. That one, the Felix da Housecat remix, and the Casa Grande track, because Casa Grande is actually DJ Vibe, so even though I don?t think it?ll be that good, I still have a patriotic interest in seeing what Vibe comes up with.

Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17

despite your right to have an opinion, they are very succesfull..both with their djing careers and with the songs that you love to slag them for. What have you done??

Noone is saying you arn't entitled to an opinion but jesus why is it that there is so much judgement and chin scratching when it comes to artists like Deep Dish? Bottom line (for me) if the majority felt the way y'all do they wouldn't be getting booked all over the world, be doing production that gets nominated for awards or get to do GU albums.

So in your mind, despite our right to have an opinion, the fact that some of us are in the minority means we shouldn?t express it publicly?

Who the hell was disputing that they had a very successful career? And why do I have to do anything? I?m not a DJ, I don?t get paid to play music, I don?t produce, but I?m a music lover, so I?ll voice my opinion, good or bad.

You hit the nail on the head. I think the boxed boys have fallen way off track from what GU started up as. I think the nubreed series had the right idea of trying to promote fresh up an coming dj's, but what happened to that series? I just feel like the last half of the series 15-29 just doesnt have the impact that the first half of the series had. Maybe is just me bitching, but Ive had my fill of the deep dish, nick warren, james lavelle releases.

Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17

I've enjoyed previous two DD releases on GU - Moscow has a very special place in my heart. That said, enough is enough with these boys.

Whilst I'm sure the recent resurgance of Renaissance must have an impact on who GU can approach, there are many other DJ's out there who are more than able to step up to the plate and take on the GU mantle.

In october my hard earned cash wont be going on this, instead I will use my money wisely and purchase Balance 10 with JVM :p :p :p

Re: Sharam GU 29 ? Dubai Via Global Underground On October 17

There may be more 'deserving' dj's out there but will they sell enough units to warrant a GU release? I don't think so somehow.........

I agree. No matter how much bashing these guys get, I will always be a fan. What can I say. There a major reason why I love this thing called house. :)

Wow...thats a really harsh comparison. I wouldn't go that far. Yes, they do tend to play some cheese and there still milking GIO is much as they can, but they still can bang it out. The Tiesto of house music is David Guetta IMO. ;)
