i own a Canon Powershot A75 and it is nice. Can't beat the price, quality and image. i love its compact size too.

I almost bought an SD10 because of the form factor, but no optical viewfinder + no zoom + very basic features just didn't do it for me.

digital rebel 18/55 is a quality camera... any of those mid-range canons are nice. shit even the lowest quality is great.

Those fujifilm cameras are great for only $100 at radio shack. But Canon, yep definately the best. :P

arielus: I know the digital rebel has interchangeable lenses. I was referring to the G5. You told me that the lenses were what made the difference. And the G5/G6 hasn't got interchangeable lenses. Thus, I guess it is not as good as the digital rebel, right?

you are right...

i thought you were talking about the rebel, since a friend told me the same thing about the lenses some time ago, and i wasn't completely sure :P

that's the best camera if you don't want to buy a reflex :S

even better than some reflex now.. the one limitation are the lenses, but 35-140 equivalent lens is a standard now :)

SLR are super nice, but not worth the money, unless of course you have it. The technology is not there yet, so if you have the bucks go ahead and drop it. Well, it's the closest effect you will get to a film type camera. It still needs years to evolve and become a standard. Some cameras in todays market use it (Sigma). I Highly recomend you this Sony Cybershot. Very compact, great LCD display, 5.1 Mpx. This is a great choice. It cost USD 399 @ best buy or circuit city

To be frank, I am not sure. I went to play with one yesterday, and yet they did not have one in stock. It's a beautiful camera, all Canons are. :Rolling:

I might get a G5 just because they will be dirt cheap. It's only 5 megapixel, but like I said I am going to wait for the x3 technology to come out and drop a bundle of money.

the problem is that cams with less MPs generally have less zoom...or dont they?

3x (optical) is pretty standard. do not look at digital zoom. that's a no no. it's software that "blows" up the image. You can do the same effect in Photoshop.
