Oh Cusick, keep munching on those little green Motorolas and making our ears happy...
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
Definitely NOT one of my favorites. Im not syaing its a bad mix just not my taste. Parts of the mix I like and there are parts I dont like.
Im not into that slow mellow tech sound like right around the 3-4 min mark. That shit just puts me to sleep. Lately its seems like Diggy Sasha and others like Q are going over that way more and more which kind of sucks IMO.
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
Honestly guys, I have massive respect for your tastes and your opinions, and the fact that I?ve always loved the type of music that you still love is what brought me to MS, but...
...really, the fact that some you can?t appreciate how good this mix is completely beyond me...I still love the old dark melodic prog sound, but where do you peeps go for variety :what ? What kind of stuff beyond that do you listen to and enjoy?
Either I?m getting old or I?ve become really detached from some ot MS peeps? tastes...
That's why they make different music. I can't stand 90% of the music you guys rave about on here, but it's not "completely beyond me." Different strokes for different folks.
The DJs who can twist it up behind a good, solid house beat will always be way ahead of the garbage people like James Holden try to pass off as music.
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
Cusick always began his Kiss guest mixes with "mellow sounds," what are you guys bitching about. One of his older guest mixes began with the Wax Poetic remix of Norah Jones for christ's sake. He seldom bangs it out but chugs along and fucks around with your head. It's great that people like Cusick, Fortier and Lisle are putting their on spin on the music being produced these days, as opposed to going all out on that electroshite bangwagon.
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
I thought Q6's mix was highly entertaining and "different". I am sure Sean put some work into this one.

I don?t think I made myself very clear.
I totally agree with the different strokes for different folks notion, but the thing is, I can appreciate the same music as guys like GregWhelan or chuckc, but I?ve gotten to a point where it would make me sick to just listen to that "good ole prog" stuff, you know? It?s just a personal thing, I?m constantly on the look out for new stuff, I?ve been like this ever since I can remember, but that?s me, I have to respect the fact that people are satisfied with just listening to the same stuff as they did 10 years ago.

Couldn't have said it better. One more I'd add to that list is Fanciulli, if he refines his style a little better he could be the next big thing. There's a hell of a lot of creativity behind the tracks in this mix by Q6. And to the people saying this is too electro... WTF?!
And I can hardly see how this is warmup music. Just because it's not banging? There's a lot happening in this set which could seriously mess with your mind in the middle of the night.
Well done Mr Cusick. One day I would seriously love to catch you live.
PS: Jenks one day you'll wake up and realise James Holden is the one without the clue :p

Deep Mariano :RightOn:
I wouldn't go as far as the top five guest mix, but it's easily one of the best this year

I am not saying that...I am trying to make a point to all those who posted that the q6 mix was one of the "best mixes ever"
i was saying try listening to these sets and still tell me that q6 is one of the "best mixes ever"
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
But those two sets are completely different sounds from Cusick's set, even though they rock too.

Exactly. That´s all I´ve breen trying to say.
Chuck, I clearly said "sick of JUST the same ole prog stuff". With this I mean that I listen to a lot of different types of electronic/dance music, I love Deep Mariano, I recently bought one of his tracks on Beatport and hey, look at the tracklisting for a mix I did last May :
Starecase - Vapour Trails (Original Mix) [Hope Recordings] Izak, Phunindustries - Retake (Original Mix) [Amniotik Recordings] Snake Sedrick - Only One Way (Sertac Kaya Remix) [Tilth Music] Flash Brothers - Past Will Be Future (D-Nox & Beckers Remix) [Flow Vinyl] Espen & Elusive - Poetic Penetration (Furry Nipples Mix) [Lost Langage] Snake Sedrick - Effulgence [Tilth Music] Snake Sedrick - Balanced [Tilth Music] Benz & MD - Under Oath (Perry O´Neill Remix) [Baroque Records] 2 Faced - Rock Music (Damien J Carter Remix) [Little Mountain] Sinesweeper - Highest Of The High (Original Mix) [Hamachi Records] Federico Epis - Natalia (Original Mix) [Acute Recordings] Facundo Mohrr - To Catch Me (Original Mix) [Acute Recordings]
What type of music do you call those tracks? I can get you a copy of the mix, if you want.
The thing is that, for quite some time now (a year and half now), I´ve been leaning towards a more tech house sound, and I enjoy it more now, so yes, this Q6 mix is, to me, one of the 5 best ever guest mixes. I just feel that maybe if you gave that sound a bit more of a real chance, you might enjoy it a bit more.

I suppose q6 new sound is just not my cup of tea

Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
cant get my q6 mix yet, did it go down again???
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
For the record, I dig all types of music. I'm predominantly into vocal prog house but can listen to most stuff, aprt from electro nonsense. Cusick always interests me, he plays some quality tracks that no one else plays. As for Holden, I think he just plays noise........
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
Holden, he just plays noise........
I?ve always been a Sonic Youth fan and to me Holden is to prog house what Sonic Youth was to rock music in the late 80?s.
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
does anyone know what that last track is on the mix just after digweed talks 57 min and 19 seconds. sounds fooken cool  it actually sounds like a remix of the track Rodamaal - Insomnia . i could be wrong though. i don't know the last 2 tracks well so i could be totally wrong.
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
there is no point to compare Q6 to anyone else, there is no point to expect the same stuff he usually playin, there is one thing u should expect - its gonna be mindblowing. the effort Q6 have put in this mix definitely shines through in the end, the mixing is tight, and as such the flow is very good and it doesnt matter he changed his sound - he`s still on the top of the wave 8)
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
^^ 'cos he used Live to sequence it, but still great nevertheless!

Hmm that's strange. My Sony Walkman mp3 player went bezerk the other day and barely works at all now, I'm about to reformat the hard disc on it. The only thing I've put on it during the last week has been the Cusick mix :O
The file might be cursed.

How do you know it was done in Live?
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
Finally listened to the mix in full. Didn't like it. This goes nowhere, just the same song going on for an hour. Hardly any vocals or variation in the beat.
My least favourite Cusick Mix
Re: Sean Q6 Guest Mix
How do you know it was done in Live?
it was done in live. sean told me. :)
its a cool mix. druggy. the basslines. and trippy psychadelic layers. its all in there just a wee bit hidden this time.
