i love sasha & john digweed because they are the best dj's for me. at the winter music conference in miami in 2006 i had the pleasure of watching them work not only alone, but side by side on seperate nights. they each brought forth a wonderful assortment of music and vibe.

john, in particular, has brought so many hours of bliss and so many late nights of unrelenting musical poetry. a true artist.

havent seen sasha so many times alone, but when i have, he has delivered the good filth.

touchy subject for me as i consider myself an old school raver ( or asshole if u look @ it this way ), the thing about sasha and digweed is that when there hight was full they brought something unique to the dance scene and even today they can do the same if they put a little effort into it, i place them high up there in the origonality list as at there time they like other brought something unique to a otherwise relentless and repetative scene. i have many other dj's which i rate in the same fashion but each dj has there own scene ;)

Let's see, Sasha has been putting incredible beats in my ears for about 12 years now, Diggers about eight. They put countless producers on the map and given dozens of DJs a starting point with the sound that they made famous. Any new DJ I've discovered more recently surly owes a lot to these legends.

They have been two of the most influential and important figures in dance music, Sasha especially who has pretty much pioneered the "sound" and given careers to countless producers, remixers and DJ's (Digweed included) because of the influence he is. I've been into Sasha since i caught him at the Eclipse in 1991 and since then i've seen him slated, immitated, and pretty much shape the way we listen to this kind of music today, I've been into Digweed since 1999 when i first saw him play at Bedrock, he was good, but he aint Sasha. As for what Digweed's playing now i really don't understand it, i've heard more inspiring music in elevators. Nowadays it seems that Sasha is trying to milk everything he can now he is in the twilight of his career, since he started playing in the US so much he has lost that "magic". dunno what it is, just the whole commercial attitude over there maybe. Shame he had to sell out.

So before you jump on me for slating them in this "love thread" i can't tell the story of how i used to love them without mentioning how poor they have become ;)

Digweed is the one for me. No one else can make me dance like he can and when he is on form it literally gets to the stage where I dont know what to do with myself (no jokes please ;) ). Classic example is the last Bedrock, especially the time between 1-4 which everyone was calling the 'vortex'. It was like I got sucked into it and spat out the other end with no concept of how long had elapsed, or thoughts of what anyone else I was with was doing. Love it! I like the way that he has such a clearly defined sound, except maybe some of the 'electro' (u know what I mean) rubbish he has played at times in the last year or so. A 'digweed tune' is instantly recognisable whatever genre it would be defined as belonging to. I may be on my own on this one but I also love how moody he is behind the decks. It compliments his dark and moody sound and I always think he looks like an eccentric scientist or something, completely immersed in his work with no thought for the 1000s of people in front of him going crazy. Makes me laugh everytime!! Fav CD: GU 014 Hong Kong, especially CD1. Digweeds prime imho!!

I do like alot of Sasha's stuff and have had some great nights, but his sound is very different and just not as much to my particular taste. I also object to all this Ableton business. Call me a traditionalist or an old git but I wish it could go back to 2 decks, a mixer and some records. Not going to happen though is it... :(

Ugh, Chem gave his side, let's not get into the "+1's." If you have some sort of personal meaningful story why they once did it for you but no longer, go ahead and share, otherwise this is the APPRECIATION thread. Desyn got 46 of 'em on here at last count, can't these guys get a single one without you guys getting negative?

Personally I'm glad they moved on. There are pleanty of younger cats keeping that old prog sound alive, while S&D have continued to push new boundries. Sasha in particular is changing the game, and he's not done. Diggers I feel hasn't quite found his next thing, but he did start later than Sasha so it is only a matter of time.

I still love that old sound, that's why I have several new favorite DJs, meanwhile I am truly a fan so I will continue with S&D on their journey through music and making the most of the trip, even when it takes a bad turn or two.

i tend to agree...there no were near as good as they used to be...

2003 was about the last year of being huge fans of theres....just not into there new direction....

but its a good thing because now i am into so many other djs that i may have not discovered

out of the 50+ times i have seen these guys and about 20 of them being at twilo those were the most amazing nights. i know its done and over with and i should stop chasing the twilo dream but those nights were fucking brilliant in every way. the end of the night when the placed cleared out and it was just the die hards and sasha and digweed was the best time. walking out of there onto the streets of nyc at 10am on a saturday. im still chasing those nights.

I unfortunately was never able to catch those two at Twilo...I have always heard & read wonderful things about those nights. I only wish I could have been a part of that...

I've had some very memorable/special moments with Digweed solo on the decks...one being New Years Day on the backstretch of a 10+ hour set at 10:30AM...:shock: Only a handful of people on the dancefloor all with serious looks of confusion and/or total happiness across their faces...:D :twisted:

I went to a couple of the Delta Heavy stops as well but those sets were way too short imo...:what

Maybe something magical will happen this coming NYE with JVM opening for the two...If there's one man who can set the mood just right, it's JVM. :)
