Hummer H3
Re: Hummer H3
ghey imo
Re: Hummer H3
Thats the latest one right? It's the smallest so far?
I think they're cool in that they're functional..
Re: Hummer H3
ghey imo
that was actually my knee-jerk reaction when I first saw them. I had occasion to look into them in a bit more detail, though, and I'm kinda changing my mind. I don't want to drive around in a vehicle, though, if everyone is going to look at me and shake their heads. It's not important to me that I have the greatest car in the world, but I don't want to take affirmative steps to look like a douchebag.

Re: Hummer H3
at 20 mpg highway, its going to stay out of my attempts to test drive until gas comes down more or their mpg goes up

20mpg doesn't seem all that bad for how big they are..... It's relative though, because thats not great mpg..
Re: Hummer H3
20 mpg is terrible, relative or not, and that too 20 is what they're flaunting in their ads. Though thats my only gripe, I personally think it's nice looking and in a size thats actually useable.
Re: Hummer H3
i'd love to be getting 20mpg right now.
Hummer has a lot of PR work to do to shed that douchebag H1 H2 image, and i don't think a 20mpg SUV is going to do it. A lot of people are just going to see "HUMMER" written on it and that's that.
Re: Hummer H3
re the 20 mpg, I currently drive a Wrangler, which gets even worse mileage than that, so pretty much anything is a step up for me.
Re: Hummer H3
^^
Then the H3 is defo for you. It's very new so there aren't too many details about nags/complaints out (yet) but so far, it seems to be the Baby Hummer that everyone's being eyeing considering the low(er) price range
Re: Hummer H3
I think there are better choices in terms of either an everyday SUV or an offroader. The only reason to buy the H3 is on image, and being at the bottom of the Hummer food chain, the value of that image is questionable.
Have you looked at the new Toyota FJ Cruiser? Very cool, imo.
Re: Hummer H3
lame all round. people who drive those things are just screaming for attention.

PM me. I work for Hummer and they are crap.

I have. Not a fan at all. I like Toyotas, but I really don't dig this. Great bang for the buck, but the appearance is too gimmicky. Of course, lots of people would probably say that about the H3.
Re: Hummer H3
I work for Hummer and they are crap.
General Motors - says it all really.

I LOVE the FJ Cruiser, I think its really brings out a youthfulness in your persona. But like the Hummer, the FJ sucks in terms of Gas Mileage. Between the Hummer and the FJ, the Hummer offers more options than the FJ (spelled Navigation) but the Hummer loaded is 37,000 MSRP and you could get a loaded FJ for about 7 Grand cheaper and STILL pick up an after market Nav.
In the long run, the FJ will come on top simply because it's a Toyota. I would have LOVED to get one for myself unfortunately my next car purchase is for the Mrs. and she doesnt want a monstrosity.

:D I get 20mpg, but then again I do go 100mph at least 5 times a week...
Re: Hummer H3
those of us who get 20 are the ones stuck with previously purchased vehicles (mine is 6 years old). In this day age with the way gas prices are sky rocketing, I wouldn't purchase an automobile KNOWING its 20mpg
Re: Hummer H3
Yeah, the reliability factor steers me away from GM vehicles to some extent -- I drove a Pontiac Fiero years ago, and wow what a piece of shit that thing was. On the other hand, if I'm being realistic, I tend to get a new vehicle every 2 or 3 years anyway (at the end of the warranty -- I like knowing that reapirs aren't my problem), and most any car operates pretty much worry free in the first few years. It ends up not really being that big of an issue for me...
Dunno...

Agreed!! The people that drive any Hummers are giant douche's. These things are shite all the way around. I do alot of driving and see these things broke down everywhere! A freind of mine has a picture of one being jumped off by an old ford probe.

Hummer will never shed their douchebag image because it's what they are. I fucking hate everything about Hummer.
Re: Hummer H3

Pretty much and that is coming from somebody whos family has owned a GM dealership for 30 years. Not the best product on the road but I will still take it over a Ford imo.

mmmm, not me. got a 2005, and with a tailwind, going downhill, i get 18mph.

but you gotta hate these things!!!!!!
Re: Hummer H3
15MPG here and its a 2005 but its paid for so I don't mind the 70.00 a week.
Re: Hummer H3
Another good choice is the Xterra, very ballsy truck. What are your needs? Offroad? Towing? If you don't need these you should be looking more at a CRV or RAV4. One of the best car-like SUVs is the last Nissan Pathfinder. (The current one is real nice, but expensive)
Re: Hummer H3
dang.... 2005 model paid for... I wish I was rich :(
Re: Hummer H3
im far from it

I have a CRV.... I like it... could have more horsepower but it's ok on gas mileage..
My choice now would be a AWD nissan murano..
Re: Hummer H3
the new Mazda CX7 has really caught my eye.... fully loaded with Nav and AWD right around 31,000.
Great value for money
Re: Hummer H3
That is cool looking.... looks similar to a murano..
Re: Hummer H3
yea but I'll still give a few points to the Murano for the CVT. I'm really waiting for all cars to catch on with that. So tired of head jerks when the RPM redlines in any gear
Re: Hummer H3
i've never driven a CVT car.
seems like a great improvement and would be smooth.
Re: Hummer H3
the '07 Maxima's are coming with CVTs now.... I think Murano's were the first to get it....

I live and work in the city and don't really do a lot of off-road driving, but I love it (and my Wrangler loves it) when I get the opportunity. I don't really need anything all that rugged, but I also don't want an "SUV" that is really just a tall station wagon, which is kinda how I view the CR-V and RAV4 (no offence intended to anyone that has one). The flip side, however, is that my garage is pretty tight, so I can't really do anything that's exceptionally large. H3 is probably about as big as I could go.
I'm torn. I want something that is "nice" and that has the creature comforts I'm looking for, but I still want to be able to drive wherever the hell I want when the opportunity presents itself. There's nothing more pitiful, I think than when you see folks stranded in the median with their "SUV" that only has 4 inches of ground clearance.

hahaha... thats totally what it is...
but the real time AWD has never let me down in the snow and it's super reliable.
Re: Hummer H3
4 Runner Toasty?
Two of my friends have them (you know them both), one has the limited, one has the SR5...new body style..i dig em. Not setting the world on fire for gas mileage, 18ish, but is gas that big of an issue for you considering you live in the city, your office isn't that far from your house, and your wife has a company car? Trying to squeez another 4-5 miles per gallon puts you into the tall station wagon category unfortunately, and then trying to go off road when you'd like to, just isn't going to happen.
