Yes please.

Also, lets not forget the mystery factor involved 5 years ago or more, where you didn't know at least half of the tracks being dropped and couldnt just get ahold of them the next day... let alone find anyone who could ID them... Your memories of those nights are a lot more tainted (positively) by your emotional memories of those nights and the satisfaction you had when leaving the party... this seriously impacts how you remember a night as is the case in all of life and the way that human beings create memories.
best explanation to sasha's loss of """OH MY GOD HE IS AMAZING"""" fanbase.

Re: Sasha booed in Lisbon

no, but look at the change he made. it wasnt for the worse, just a change. at least in NYC, he tends on playing harder and higher BPM, and he leaves out the long, paced out mixes and heavy emotional music he used to play... i still like him, but i personally loved him a lot more when he was dropping shit like twilo thunder and change me. those points where the beat would drop off, a moment of silence and then a massive, musical buildup that drove people to tears and the crowd into a frenzy when he let it loose.

If you're getting tears from music then you need to rethink your sexuality, dude. Seriously, stop hanging out with your mom. That whore.

Portugal is not a scene reliable enough to judge a performance like that. Sasha is a great artist, maybe the people from Lisboa should listen to FADO(Portuguese Music) and forget about Electronica. C'mon people! Booing Sasha is fucking ridiculous! The guy is playing live, and not spinning Vinyls or Cds only like any 12 year old can do it. Producing and playing live with equipments is very different. It's very easy to play what others are playing, not easy to make your own projects. Fuck Lisboa! Portuguese sounds?!!LOL Who da fuck is a well known producer from Portugal? I guess nobody People from UK, Germany, US, Holland, Argentina, let us know your opinion. These are a few places where this music is in the culture for real. Portugal scene is all about the fucking mainstream

I hope you´re from around here, to know the country so well. And if you´re not from here, you´re being a bit offensive too.

If you do know it, you´ll know that we have a small but healthy "electro-tech" (commas deliberate) scene, just look at Lux´s schedule (today, for example, we have Ame there, and next thursday Tiefschwarz, last week even at Coconuts there was a Der Dritte Raum and Martinez performance).

The only thing I agree is that this Love 2 Dance event is very mainstream and Sasha´s current form cannot be judged by this show. But just so you know how our mainstream is different, even Tiesto (can´t get more mainstream than that) was not very well received there last year. The thing is that our mainstream is still fixated in the tribal sound and is not open minded at all.

I apologize if you considered offensive. Don't get me wrong, I've been several times to Portugal, Lisboa, Cascais, Estoril, beautiful country. However, if you compare the scene there with other places like the UK, Germany, etc. You know that the knowledge of the culture and the music is much deeper in those countries. The scene in Portugal is relatively young. According to your satement of electro-tech, maybe Danny Howels is the guy to play there. Sasha in other places will be more valuable.

Re: Sasha booed in Lisbon

Kinetic - that sure explains why he was booed.

I have always wondered what happens to big name dj's when they get booked at a club and their style doesn't fit? For instance if any decent dj (the kind that this community listens to) played in my town (Luton, UK) they would bomb. Although oakenfold played here in a shitty club in 1996, i was only 16 so didn't go. And fanciulli played last year but don't think anyone went

Yup, but he?s been living in London for years, that should tell you something

Mastik Soul is another great portuguese DJ/producer (even had a special d/l here)...he lives in London too...

Only DJ Vibe still stays here.

Rui Da Silva is a Producer who made a few cheesy songs. I meant WELL-KNOWN PRODUCERS.

DJ Vibe, c'mon dude! We are talking about Sasha being booed, and at the same time mentioning second level Producers?!!

Also, just like you said: They live in LONDON where people understand about the music.

Whatever mate. I saw Sasha several times in different parts of the planet Miami, UK, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Ibiza, and for sure I'll always appreciate his performances. You guys should remember that he was one of the guys who developed the music until the point where other people are using and creating based on his sounds. Anyone who understands about the music will appreciate the guy.

Re: Sasha booed in Lisbon

Maybe next Digweed, Deep Dish, or Cattaneo will be booed too.

Look matey, this is the last time I will address you.

You don´t know shit about us, son.

Deep Dish is huge here. Deep Dish is MAINSTREAM here. But personally, I wouldn´t say loving Deep Dish is actually proof of being at any kind of musical forefront or a sign of great musical culture. Digweed and Cattaneo play here regularly, always well-received.

My sole intention when I started this thread was to report what happened and maybe discuss the old DJ dillema : adapt to the crowd or make them adapt to you. Just because you think whoever dislikes Sasha is ignorant third world trash, it doesn´t mean those people don´t exist and sometimes DJ´s have to play for them.

But instead you´ve made only 4 posts here, all offending my country. Great contribution...mate  It´s a bit different when I say something´s wrong here because I know the country, you obviously don´t. And you don´t seem to know much about dance music right now either : have you listened to what Rui Da Silva is doing lately? Have you seen what his label 64 Records is putting out? You can call it anything but cheesy.

Eu nasci em Portugal. Cresci em diferentes paises. Nunca foi a intencao como eu falei previamente to offend. Also, I never said anything about third world. Argentina is in Latin America and has an amazing scene, maybe one of the best. Colombia has a great scene. Brazil is OK. This has nothing to do with developed or third world countries. Em algums lugares essas coisas acontecem eu nao sei porque. Talvez simplesmente era o publico naquela noite em particular. I also just wanted to discuss. I'll be in your region this summer, for sure I'll check it out the scene with better eyes and look for what you said. In regards to the dj adapting or the public adapting, I believe is a little bit of both, but you should not get away from your base style just to please the public.

Best regards. Tudo de bom.

talking about "third countries" what do you think you are... is your country something like the los paradise or what??... and what do you mean with rui da silve being not a well know producer... you must be like 15 or 13 perhaps you didnt get his tracks or something.

hansh20, actually I'm 29 and not 20 like you. I've been in this business for 15 years. Do you understand Portuguese? Because if you do, you'll notice that I wrote that I didn't say absolutely anything about third world. The contrary. One thing I agree with Kinetic, it seems that here there are only a few people who really knows about the shit.

About Rui da Silva just one question: Do you place him at the same level of guys like sasha, digweed, deep dish? Rui da Silva can be a producer. But not this level of producer.

Well, this weekend I'll be on the hififestival, Sasha will be there, then I'll be in Spain, Dance Valley, Ibiza, lets' see how will be the reception for him on these places. Keep watching videos, downloading sets and wondering from far away.

WHAT? Oh I get it... you are retarded....

Because neither Sasha, Digweed, or Deep Dish are very well know for being producers, rather DJ's. It's ASTOUNDING that after 15 years in this business you don't know the difference...
