Re:: Smoking cigarettes

ive tried lots of times , no sucess.

A friend of mine, tried this and it worked. prett nasty though.

you grab 3 cigarretes and put them in a glass of water, you put them outside and let them sit one whole night there next morning, you drink the water...

you will be puking :Barf: and the taste is awfull but you will never again want to smoke.

he quit 3 years ago.

i just havent been able to try his method.

but it does work.

Re:: Smoking cigarettes

That is quite the unique way of quitting. Not something I would like to do by any means

i have tried to quit just a couple of times before, out of necessity, but have since started back up again. I think about whether or not I should be buying a pack every few packs or so, but almost always end up caving in. I'll quit when I'm ready.. I just hope that's sooner than later, otherwise it'll just be too damned hard.

congrats to everyone who is stronger willed than me :)

#238557Post 46 of 80

i tried it too several times, but never got through it. smoking is so useless, but when i'm drinking or especally when i play in a club or make music at home, i can't do without.

#238560Post 47 of 80

i've never smoked one cigarette in my life. Yay Me!

#238587Post 48 of 80

2 years in a trot now i have given up smoking on 1st Jan. Have never had any problem until June, when it starts to get warmer outside, and I start again.

#238604Post 49 of 80

Been off them since the Janruary before last, I'd reccomned Alan Carrs books. They do work and make you relasie that the only thing you are goiving me is an addicition

#238677Post 53 of 80

I've tried at least three or four times quitting cold turkey. I stopped for only one month, and that was January of 2003 and 2004. After 1 month of not smoking I felt much better and had more of an appetite, but it was way too hard to keep going without cigarettes. I tell myself I'll quit every other day, but it never works.. Peer pressure has a lot to do with smoking!! :?

#238690Post 54 of 80

So hard for me to quit. Good luck on this.

Om

My friend quit smoking by replacing cig's with j's. He's totally tobacco free.

#241932Post 57 of 80
i've stopped smoking since yesterday. i've been talking about it for a long time now i'm gonna do it. i smoked for 7years now. until this day. i'm stopping cold turkey but with some help:

"ZYBAN is the first non-nicotine, oral medication (a pill) that is FDA-approved as an aid to smoking cessation. While it is unclear exactly how ZYBAN works, it is thought to act on the part of your brain that is addicted to the ingredients in cigarettes. ZYBAN helps decrease your cravings and withdrawal symptoms and your desire to smoke."
a little update, i haven't smoked yet, i've never been able to stop this long  i didn't realy use the zyban pills actually, only for 3 days or so and then forget to take them. i've been going out alot this month and got really drunk and i hardly ever thought about sigarettes, i big suprise actually. i did have toothpicks with me to keep my hands and mouth busy. the first night out, i kept holding a sigarette just to feel it, but i didn't light it. and that would be my biggest reccomondation to people that are trying to quit. make sure you have something to keep you're hands busy. i don't go out for the moment, i have to study for my examns. normally i would smoke one sigarette after the other but i'm hanging in there for the moment. i am holding a fake sigaret as we speak. it's a cigarette tube filled with toiletpaper, looks exactly like a normal sigaret, without it i would've smoked already.

#241938Post 58 of 80

ow yeah and my girlfriend still smokes and man sigarettes smell terrible! i really had no idea it was that bad. i even get annoyed when someone walks by me smoking. it doesn't bother me tho that she is smoking next to me. it's actually really helping me. -running back indoors up the stairs to search sigarettes or else she can't leave (even tho we were only going to be away for 20 minutes) -a sigarette before putting on here helmet -going outside to smoke even when it's cold or raining -going to 5 stores to find one that's open so she can get a pack of smokes -... i'm glad that's over. I started running too. i love how my lungs are returning to normal. i have never been able to run this much before. everytime the urge for sigarettes return i think about how healthy i've become in a short periode. and i wouldn't want to ruin that again. i actually did light a sigarette a few days ago, i inhaled 2 times and it tasted like shit. and i trew it away. now my last memory from a sigarette is a bad one. that's a good thing 8)

Re: Smoking cigarettes

Pickle, where did you find this thread? Looks like its been dead for almost a year. Smoking cigarettes is not for me, up to $5 a pack here in NY. I like a clove every once in awhile, but those are $7.50 a pack here.

nothing better than a $7.00 pack of GPC's or Sundance...maybe hacking up a lung for $7.00 / day or $2500 / year.

#447929Post 66 of 80

^ Damn, I though 4 something in Ohio was expensive. IF cigs get up to 7 bucks a pack I am defineltu quitting. But it is not like I smoke a lot anyway. Usually when I go out and plan on drinking.

#447930Post 67 of 80

Re: Smoking cigarettes

well truth be told, I don't really feel the expense of 7 bucks a pack...I have people buy me duty-free cigs anytime they come here (or I buy em when I travel) and I like european cigs better anyways

#447933Post 68 of 80

Re: Smoking cigarettes

Yeah, thats what my girlfriend does. She has friends send them from Kansas where they are still $3.50 a pack and you get a break on cartons, around $28 / carton. Its rediculous up here.

Re: Smoking cigarettes

pickles you're a diamond for digging this up.

I didn't post, but I quit smoking 4 months ago today :D

seeing what I posted on page one makes me laugh. I went from 10/day to zero. I now cycle to work and am trying to restore my lungs.

#452101Post 73 of 80

Re: Smoking cigarettes

I heard all damage can be undone. it takes the same amount you put in ... that is latest health report i read. the only thing is the exposure to all the carcinogens ... that risk and all the chances of picking up caner (etc) do not go away.

/smokes a fag.

Good for you HOS!!!!!!

My wife quit last October after having smoked for about 8 years I think. Her last 2 packs were @ Space during the 18 hours we were at the closing party. I hope she lasts... 10 months and counting.

Good call Adam, quite a coincidence to see this today, since I actually stopped yesterday.

I?m trying to go cold turkey, from 20 a day to 0. It?s way too early to say if it?s working or not, only a day and a half gone by yet, but I do feel a bit more active, my brain feels like a train at full throttle, and people say I?m speaking really fast, so it?s having positive effects already.

Of course, that might have something to do with my gargantuan coffe intake too...

Anyway, it?s easy sailing until now, and I?ve convinced a workmate to do the same.
