You might want to do some research on that asdf... They do make an IPA it is just not labled that way on the bottle. Oh and by the way it is a great IPA!

that is there Celebration ale. not there IPA, they have never had one. it is based of an IPA. There is no way in hell that is an IPA. I am a hardcore Sierra Nevada fan + IPA's is one of my top fav beers and that still at this moment that is no IPA.
You have to classify beers, and the Celebration ale has characteristics of a traditional IPA, yet it has other ingredients added. That is why Sierra Nevada does not call it IPA, but rather Celebration Ale.
hesh.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
I bought a 6-pk of IPA in Nashua, NH while I was there on business last week. The name was Smutnose :) It was super hoppy, more so than most IPAs. For normal IPAs, I usually drink Red Hook (mild, but strong) and Bridgeport (very hoppy). IPA is definitely my favorite style of beer.

Juan and John like the same beer the best, that's freakin rad! I just happened to try it at a restaurant in Orlando about 3 weeks ago. Juan when did you first try Leffe?
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Well my fellow beer gnerdz, I believe when asdf made that comment in '06 Torpedo wasn't being produced. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is an APA, not an IPA. The Torpedo came out in '09 and is an actual IPA.
Put that in yer pipe and smoke it. :mullered:
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Leffe is good. I like it.
I just started finally liking IPA's last year when I lived in Seattle. They seem to be all over the place out there and I finally took a fancy to them. Used to hate all the hoppyness but it's not so bad now. Still not my fav style for sure, but I am starting to appreciate them more. A couple of current fav's:

Six Point Resin, such an aptly named beer- a rich piney resinous IPA, so good.
Some bottles i've opened in the past week or two:
Three Floyds Apocalypse Cow - Double IPA with Milk Sugar added, as rich and awesome as it sounds.
Cantillon Classic Gueze - Finally landed some of this from belgiuminabox. Shipping was almost as much as the half case of beers, but so worth it, and looking forward to cellaring the rest and enjoying over the next few years as it continues to ferment in the bottle.
Backwoods Bastard - Founders bourbon barrel scotch ale. This was a 2011, much of the alcohol sweetness you get from a fresh one has almost completely gone away exposing a nice malt backbone, but I missed the bourbon heat. I prefer this fresh. Noted for future cellaring.
Boulevard Love Child 3 - lactobacillus, champagne yeast, bourbon barrels - fucking sign me up!! Easily the best beer Boulevard makes, and one of my favorite seasonals. Lactic sourness, with a richer finish. Such a quality sour ale. Bought several of these, looking forward to seeing what time does to this.
Three Floyds Arctic Panzer Wolf - It's getting hard to distinguish three floyds IIPAs apart from each other, this could have easily been Dreadnaught and I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart, or maybe I just don't drink enough Three Floyds as it's not readily available in my area, have to pick it up on work travel.
Locally, Perennial Artisan Ales keeps cranking out the awesome. Beers with blueberries, raspberries, barrel aged, saisons, tripels with honey, such ingenuity pouring out of that brewery on a weekly basis- highly recommend if you see anything on the shelf in your area from Perennial.

Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Part of me is almost thankful I no longer live in San Diego, they have 65 microbreweries alone in that county and the amount of options at local restaurants there is staggering and nearly impossible NOT to partake regularly. Orlando is slowly getting its act together with craft micro brews, but nowhere near the scale in SD...

^Hey Rezz, you live in Indiana right? Who knew Indiana was so strict on all alcohol sales! Seattle must have been a nice change eh?

Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Yes. It is totally stupid. But there are goods/bads it seems in every place I've lived.
Seattle:
Cold beer in the grocery. No liquor available anywhere except for a few state run liquor stores (this just changed after years of battling right before I moved). Bars only open until 2am. Can buy booze on Sundays.
Indiana:
Warm beer and liquor in the grocery. Liquor stores have beer/hard liquor in the same place. Bars open until 3am every day. (Used to close at midnight on Sundays, but this got changed just before the Super Bowl was here). No booze sales on Sundays, but the bars are open like normal and you can drink as much as you want (wtf), and can get growlers as carry out from craft brewers.

That's f*cking interesting, are you serious? Liquor wasn't allowed in seattle? What's a state run liquor store? I don't drink liquor, but wow.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
this stuff is Really Good, but I have only been able to find it ONE time and I live in the same area where its brewed!!

This is an American White Oak-aged version of Jai Alai India Pale Ale. The white oak adds smoothing notes of vanilla and slight hints of dill to the aroma and flavor profile. The finish is elegantly dry due to the light tannin notes from oak aging and though still loaded with hop flavor, hop bitterness is more restrained

Regarding the Indian Pale Ale, try calling Total Wine in Clearwater, says limited inventory can to call first. I'm going to look for it here at the Orlando location.
