Who likes the hoppy hop of the IPA??
Which ones have you tried and can recommend?
Just got home and am drinking a Thunderhead, which is decent, but i'm looking for one that knocks your socks off.

Re: i p a - a BEER thread!!
Jesus, i added "BEER" to the thread title hoping it would get a response. What do i have to do, add "SASHA" to the title as well??
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!!

Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)

And yes adding Beer and Sasha helped

my friend worked for the pyramid brewery and i like there ipa a lot, if your ever in berekely they have a draught ipa that is so fucking good
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Lrn, there is a brewery in CA called ALPINE, which doesn't ship or serve anywhere else except CA to my knowledge, but their APA ranks high on beeradvocate.com, and i've heard others rave about their beers. Ever had anything from them?
And yes, Thunderhead is my favorite IPA at the moment. But i change "favorite beer" like i change my underware, every few weeks.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
IPA is my least favorite type of beer... just about any other kind i could recommend a bunch of
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
not familiar with IPA beer. Becks is my budweiser, and i drink an assortment of wheat beers, stouts, and ales. i love those heavy belgian ales.
is IPA a brand? or a flavor? never had one.

IPA is NOT to be mistaken for pale ale... its much much hoppier jibs, BEWARE!
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't IPA invented by accident? In the early days trying to get beer to india and keeping it fresh required tons of hops, and thus, the IPA was born?
Or did that guy lie to me at the brewery in CO? I bought it hook line and sinker.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
India Pale Ale (IPA, also known as Imperial Pale Ale), is a distinct style of beer and is characterized as a sparkling pale ale with a high level of alcohol (5.5% to 6.3% by volume) and hops, thus having an increased bitterness (typically 35-48 on the IBU scale). The creation of India Pale Ale (IPA) during the early 1700's was the result of tremendous efforts by British brewers to overcome a difficult problem: during the 1700's beer did not keep well on long ocean voyages, especially into hot climates. These hot environments resulted in the arrival of flat, sour beer.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
never heard of ipa, where can you get it? as a beer conaseur (not sure of the correct spelling) theres never just 1, so heres a top 5 in no specific order:

yes, it's certainly not for a part time beer drinker. Lrn is right tho, they smell, look, and taste delicious!!
I've not had that Dogfish 60minute or 90minute IPA either, and both rank very highly as well.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)

Most decent liquor stores. Most people have Sierra Nevada or Red Hook IPA, both of which are okay, but the smaller breweries are really kicking some ass with IPA. Every city i go to i try and check out the local breweries and get local with the beer. You'll get some fantastic beers you'll never see anywhere else.
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
Red Hook ESB is the shizzy.
i think i'm just incredibly spoiled because i live in the northwest (the land of microbreweries...)

Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
that rogue beer is for hard core stomachs only.
anyone ever had Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout? MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmMmmmmmmmmm
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
rogue is awesome dude. they give you a yard of ale and a t-shirt for free on your birthday. i have 3 :D
Re: i p a - a BEER thread!! (aka sasha's favorite beer)
There is a local brewery here, besides Budweiser, that makes an oat stout that isn't bad. I'm not a very good judge of oat beers, because i'm not a big fan.
What i do like from local breweries tho, is Whiskey Stouts and Scotch ales. Beer and scotch...whoever thought of that needs a medal. Schlafly makes one that's pretty good. Also had one at the Eagle brewery in Ft. Collins CO that was good.

Well if you like Pyramid you should definitly give it a shot for a change. Hefe are not my favorite either.
One of my favorite beers is Kalik from the bahamas. It is probably crap but I had so much fun when I was 17 in Nassau that everytime I can get my hands on it, I do!
I guess if I was to put up a top 5 it would include:
1.) Amstel Light ( when looking for something easy to drink and better then domestics) 2.) McCaffrey's Ale 3.) Sam Adams Winter Lager 4.) Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout 5.) Sam Adams October fest
